According to a judge, who personally, sorry, gotta flame here, is an idiot - "Competitive cheer may, some time in the future, qualify as a sport under Title IX," Judge Underhill wrote. "Today, however, the activity is still too underdeveloped and disorganized to be treated as offering genuine varsity athletic participation opportunities for students."
I'm, sorry what? It's pretty developed and pretty dang organized.
"We had mandatory conditioning, we had to go to the gym and team practices," she said. "It's a huge commitment. We'd go to camp, like football players. We'd go away for a week at a time, learn skills from other cheerleaders. We'd compete for best jumps, best dance."
"You try out, you practice all year round." <-- Agreed.
I'm No Cheerleader, mind you. But this is simply irritating and under the definition of a sport, Cheerleading is a sport, whether it is recognized or otherwise.

Cheerleading IS a sport, like any other, only if you compete against other cheerleading squads. I've done it before, and just to point out cheerleading isn't girly in anyway once so ever. Girly prisses don't have the stamina nor the talent, or effort to surpass cheerleading, with the flips, turns and jumps. But, alas the movies of this generation has given cheerleading a bad name. But, all in all, Cheerleading is considered a sport.
