Ok what I want to know is: Is pink really a manly color?
I mean I see these gay guys wearing pink shirts [they are actually gay, I got a mental pic from them that I could have lived without seeing.] and they told this girl Pink is a manly color. But why? I would have asked them why they believe,so but considering they were covered in tattoos and were HUGE I decided not to bug them.
My Side: Ever since the medieval times women wore pink elegantly. Whether it was a morning gown, or a riding gown they wore it with pride. Today many small girls wear pink and pretend to be princesses with their plastic tiaras. But then when you get the guys they just wear it. Why? Many girls criticize them. I don't. But I am honestly curious. Why is it that suddently pink is the new big thing? I mean this 10th grader and I have been fighting over who owns the most pink for what 2 months now. he wears pink shoe laces, pink watched, pink shirts, pink skinny leg jeans. I have a pink pen, pink paper, pink tank top, pink capris, pink skirts, pink gum, pink eraser, pink highlights, pink shoes. And he gets pis- well offended. So here is the debate;
Should Pink be A Manly Color? And what begun this obsession for pink?

Gosh I like the color pink. Well at least the really hot pink. I can't stand soft pink, but the close to red pink is cool. And I have pink highlights! Gosh I feel hurt no I'm joking, I'm not hurt. But seriously some people like the color pink.

I have no side to go with on this debate, but I figured I'd do some ''research''--I don't know another word for it?--on the subject. xD Google, yay? Why Most Guys Don't Like Pink desktoppub.about.com/od/choosingcolors/f/mencolors.htm"Most people still think of pink as a feminine, delicate color, the color for little girls. Even though it is acceptable as a clothing color for men, the color pink has such strong negative associations for men that some uses of the color may be considered insulting to men. One prominent example of the furor over pink is the locker rooms at the University of Iowa. Up for debate is whether or not the color pink was chosen for the opposing teams locker room because it was a "calming, soothing color" or because of the cultural association of pink with the weaker sex and gay men - a sissy color. " Pink and Men's Clothing www.buzzle.com/articles/something-about-pink-and-mens-clothing.html"Pink is a color that is usually used for and by the female gender. Like if the upcoming baby is a girl, the baby items and the nursery will be incorporated with different shades of pink. However, pink is not a color that is only meant for women and girls. Men's clothing can too be pink and it they use the color to their advantage. When we see the color pink, it gives us quite a calming effect. There is something appealing about a man who wears pink. Men who do wear pink can appear to be bold and confident yet they also exude the air of sensitivity. Some men are however afraid and uncertain about wearing pink. They think that wearing pink would only make them look ridiculous or lessen their masculinity. T-shirts in pink color are also a hit among men especially those who want to show off their muscles. Pinks t-shirts are great to use as expression shirts. Choose a strong or comic message such as "Real Men can wear Pink" and have in printed on the pink tee. There are pink fashion accessories like wristbands or scarves can be a good way to accent a man’s attire." Also, something to think about is BREAST CANCER AWARENESS. It's in caps so you will definitely read it. The reason some men wear pink is for Breast Cancer Awareness. Maybe they have a relative or a girlfriend who has breast cancer, or who knows someone with breast cancer? Sorry, didn't really go with "obsession for pink". But this is some things to think about when it comes to pink as a manly color, I guess.

Um... good point. But today my friend who is gay was wearing all pink and I asked him why. And these were his words
"I was not aware certain colors cannot be worn by guys, anyways this color is warm, and gets my boyfriends attention." with was some unwanted info. But I still don't get it. And with your research Mintleaf I thought of a new question
"How did we categorize colors, by 2 choices girl colors and boy colors. It could have been so easily swapped blue for baby girls pink for baby boys."

Pink...Pink isn't a feminine or manly color. I myself am a tomboy, so I hate it beyond anything. I prefer black. Pink is just a normal color desired by some people. Some guys like it. Some girls like it. But guess what-who cares?

I may not be a Tomboy but Im not a preppy girly girl and I wear pink. Pink is the known as the Gay colour now. If your a guy and you own something pink well Abra Cadabra you are now gay. I personaly think its stupid its just a colour I have a favurite pink shirt that doesn't mean Im soft and feminine, Pink is mostly thought as a colour that girls wear or Gay Guys wear
Its just a colour

My friend (Yes, who is a guy), loves pink. It is his favorite color. I find it kinda weird. I have always considered it a 'girly' color. I do sort of like a very light pink. No dark pinks or nutral pinks, only light.

I think people say it because it shows that they're not afraid to wear something that's considered girly by most standards.
