He felt her red eyes seem to sear into his pelt as she looked him up and down. It didn't take a genius to figure that she too was sizing him up. For once he felt intimidated by this she-cat who let her neutral emotions towards him known. In fact it was this that began to freak him out more then anything. That unnatural icy calmness.
As she replied he found himself unsure what to respond. It was as if they had said all that needed to be said. She hadn't asked a question back like most did to continue a conversation which threw him off. Still he tried to regain his composure best he could and decided to perhaps put a little more effort into making this situation less awkward.
" So Streampaw I take it that your new around here. Well I mean in the Apprentices den of course. " It was a stupid comment of course she was new it was written all over her face and just the way she had slunk into the den and ignored everyone. " So who's your mentor? " He finished giving his chest fur a few licks so as to hide his nervousness.

She continued to study the cat, she wasn't sure what mused her to do so. Eventually she gave a hasty look the the other cats in the den, they probably were unaware. Again, though, musing her to do something there was nothing. No sudden urge to lie down, or to sleep.
Just then she realized the awkwardness of the situation. Well, maybe to him, but not to her. She was completely relaxed and if anything she felt fine. Or did she? Sometimes, dear Streampaw just couldn't tell. It came with the practice of covering up her emotion to seem calm and collected. Ha.
She could see how awkward Whippaw was, he was slightly tensed. She let a crooked cat-like smile come to her face, but her stance didn't change. There was no happiness or light in her eyes, merely just one cat standing in an Apprentice Den. But this was good. She could see how Whippaw reacted in different situations, so she can continue to study him in her stalkerish ways.
' Indeed I am, new to the den. ' She said. Her voice was somewhat blank. It was her voice, just lacking in the emotion. She flipped her eyes up to stare at Whippaw. Instead, this time, she was staring at his eyes.
' Fallenpetal, ' She said, and slowly assessed the room again. ' I haven't seen her around, though. I am doubtful I will get much training. ' Her voice was quiet, but fully heard. Like a whisper, but there was a power of speech that went along with it. ' And who will do deed to mentor you, Whippaw? ' She said, for the first time engaging in the conversation to a full extent.

For awhile it appeared that she wasn't going to answer him, and instead just stare at him or glance around the den. He was about to give up on it all together and just talk to another cat. Then she finally spoke though it was in a flat, disinterested tone. But perhaps that was her way, maybe she couldn't help being that way.
A slow grin spread across his muzzle at the mention of mentor's. He had purposely brought up the subject so he could boast about his particular mentor. For it wasn't often that he had a change to boost his ego, but now that the opportunity had arose he felt almost giddy.
Slowly he released the tension in his muscles allowing them to finally relax as if he had come to the conclusion that Streampaw wasn't any sort of threat. In fact he really shouldn't have been daunted by her in the first place. For one she was smaller, and younger with less experience then him. But in the end he had managed to work around his nervousness and that was all that mattered.
" My mentor.. " He said trying to sound casual then paused for dramatic effect " ... is Beechstar. " Now that was something to be proud of it wasn't everyday that you got the leader as a mentor. " You know, perhaps you could join in on my next training session. He even offered for me to bring some friends along. " He added hastily.

Streampaw immediately noticed the change in air. Whippaw went from nervous to cocky and proud. Not that it was any of her business, but this slightly frustrated her. Just. Slightly.
' Beechstar. ' She repeated, almost pensively. She didn't try to make it sound at all like a big deal, she already had a hatred for cats with egotistical minds. Everyone had their moments, she knew. And those moments annoyed her more then anything else in the world.
' Well, I suppose you're going to be expecting me to congratulate you. I've never been one to follow society, but anyway, congrats. ' Now that she was at ease, and not shocked or devastated by some action, her eyes weren't as intent. And didn't have that powerful heir about them, not anymore.
' Well, I'd love to train with you. ' She said, and slightly tipped her tail from left to right. She'd already learned how to fight, but not the way it is generally taught.
And that. Was because she learned it without using her front paws.
