At last.
Koisplash's muscles were sore and nearly sprained from the long day. She thought it would never end. With patrols, hunting, snapping at freshkill-pile-hoggers, yelling herself hoarse at lovesick morons who were fighting over mates, and all sorts of crazy business in TreeClan; it nearly drove her crazy.
Well; maybe even crazier than she probably already was; if that was even possible.
The sun was setting against a pink and orange and yellow sky; the hues blending together against the deep orange sphere that looked like a peach. The air was still warm with the sense of late newleaf, and blizzards of petals were being carried away by the wind from their trees. A breeze ran gently through her splotched fur; tousling it, and making her let out a soft sigh of relief.
The queens were herding their kits into the nursery, apprentices were gossiping as they headed back into their den, warriors were either grabbing a last-moment piece of prey from the fresh-kill pile or going into the den. Another typical ending to a typical day. All she wanted was to get to sleep.
Koisplash flopped onto her soft mossy nest and closed her eyes; blocking out the sound of gossiping and chattering and arguing warriors. Her sore muscles loosened and relaxed, and she felt a sense of warmth and comfortable sleepiness come over her; knowing what waited for her. It was nice, and she sank into it, giving way to an exhausted sleep.
"Koisplash," a familiar voice purred silkily; echoing through the empty hollow.
Warmth swelled in her chest. "Yes?" she murmured, her throat suddenly closing up and seeming like an impossibly small passageway for all the love and joy that burned inside her.
Out of the shimmering mist that swirled through the trees came a figure, starlight dancing in its' patched fur, the full moon reflecting in its' forest-green eyes. It seemed to glide across the ground, its paws barely skimming the grass.
"How I've missed you." The brush of his nose against Koisplash's was as faint and gentle as the caress of a warm night breeze. "Where have you been?" he chided softly.
"I'm sorry," she meowed, closing her eyes and letting his ever-so-familiar scent flow over her. "Sometimes it's hard to go to sleep; with all the insanity that runs in TreeClan now. With she-cats wanting mates and all; you know."
A quiet mrrow of laughter escaped his jaws. "No, I'm afraid I wouldn't know."
She joined him, letting out a soft chuckle. "How could I ever have left you behind? You're the only one who really understands me."
"You don't know what you have until you've lost it," he agreed.
For what seemed like an eternity, the two stood like that, tails entwined, whiskers brushing, splotched fur mingling with splotched fur until the pale light of dawn cascaded upon the warriors' den of the real world.
"It's time for me to go," sighed the ethereal tom at last, grudgingly pulling himself from the she-cat's embrace.
Koisplash gave a nod, her throat closing up as he turned to disappear once more into the mist.
"Wait," she called suddenly after him just as his pelt began to blur into the fog.
He cast a luminous green glance over his shoulder. "Yes?"
"Is what we're doing..." She shifted uncomfortably, unable to meet his piercing gaze and now looking down at her paws. "Is it...right?"
When her question was met by the sound of his laughter, Koisplash nearly jumped in surprise. His bright green eyes were narrowed fondly when she glanced up again.
"Well," he purred, a mischievous lilt to his voice, "it's not as though you're being unfaithful to your Clan by spending time with a non-TreeClan cat, is it?"
And with that, he disappeared into the forests of CloudClan.
She stared after him for a long time, feeling her doubts melt away, one by one. With him at her side, there was no obstacle she could not overcome, no more hurt that she could not get past.
At last, when she couldn't ignore the distant prodding of her side anymore, Koisplash let herself fade away, back into the light and back up where the warmth faded. She would have to shove this to the back of her mind, pretend that that there were no remnants of her dreams lingering at the edge of her consciousness.
But not before tasting his name on her tongue at least once tonight.
"Goodbye... Koisplash."
I REGRET NOTHING.
I made this to answer my inner curiosities about what would happen if Koisplash met the opposite gender of herself; or something like that. They would either kill each other or fall in lurve because Koi acts like a grumpy puss most of the time and thinks no one understands her. xD
Please keep in mind this "secret" of hers is not real in roleplay. Her real secret is that...um...actually; I have no idea. Ahaha, sorry.
And no, I will not pay the hospital bills for the brain damage this short story may cause; nor buy the brain bleach you may need.
