(Someone who knows me.....)
So there she sat. Lost and maybe a bit confused. The girl had recieved aa mentor to train her and a name to replace her old one, but what now? A pile of damp moss sat beside her, a brown tipped tail lightly curled around the small pile. She looked down upon it with round blue eyes that hadn't lost that kit-like look to them just yet. It was sundown and she had yet to set her nest up, she looked around hoping against hope someone she knew might come to rescue her in her blank mind. Dustypaw snatched up her moss and ducked inti her new den. The scent or cat hit her like a mountain against a storm. So many cats had lived here, to tell one scent from another seemed nearly impossible! The brown spotted kit stepped into the back of the den, afraid that if she set a wrong paw, she'd be scolded. Her easr were pinned to the back of her skull as she stood puzzled as to where to go. Then being the big pawed clutz she was, she tripped over a root, tumbling over nest until she hit the wall. Black spotted her vision and at first, everything looked blurry. The shape of the cat standing before her was hard to make out. Were they here to scold her and tell her she wasn't welcome? "I-I'm sorry!" She looked down, partially ashamed.

It was a bit cloudy outside, and Dustypaw looked scared. She thinks I'm another cat! He though to himself. The darkness consealed him a bit making his fur seem darker and his eyes have a bright lightning blue glow to them. In a deep vioce he growled, "What do you think you're doing!" as he tried to hold back a laugh, he couldn't wait to see her expression.

Dusty narrowed her eyes, her ears still flat against her skull. It was a tom obviously, deep voiced and....familiar? She slowly rose back to her full height, which was about the same as this apprentice so they couldn't have came in at different times... "Cedar?" She tilted her head, looking at the pair of blue eyes that stared back at her. Dustypaw frowned, cuffing the silly calico on the head. "Well I'm not sorry anymore!" She huffed, forcing her fur to lay flat. Sheathing her claws, she gathered up her pile of moss once more, sitting beside it like she once had and looked back a her best friend.

"Were's mine?" he mewed, becconing to the the moss, "What if I need some too?" Smiling charmingly as his fur had become thick and fluffy for the incomming winter. His eyes had become more blue, not having as much sun as usaul. Feeling hunger ebbing at his stomach he purred, "Want to go get something to eat then collect some more moss for me this time?" his eyes were shining once more with amusment.

She huffed again in a defiant way, glaring at Cedar. "You can get some yourself, I got my own." She retorted. She hadn't meant to snap and felt bad immediately. "I'm sorry Cedarpaw." She pressed her forehead to his shoulder. Frowning, she looked up at him. "I'm not hungry, but you can bring t back and tell mme aabout training. Besides, I still need to set up here." She said smiling gently. Dusty sat down with a sigh, being an apprentice was harder than it looked. The pressure of it all was weighing her down like just before a storm or a war. Then another thought shook her, what if it came to that? She slapped herself mentally, Beechstar wouldn't let it happen. Not yet.. Dustypaw looked back, her kitten fur was replaced by sleek briwn and white fur, her eeyes still round, but held a sharper glare. They were all growing up weren't they?

"Uh, um, ok." he mewed, a bit crest fallen, letting his tail droop and his ears fall back as he looked at the ground and padded swiftly out of the den, he hadn't noticed her sorry and had barely felt her touch on the should, saddness had pushed him into a viod of blackness. Did she really feel as he did for her? A shiver past through his body as he reached the edge of the camp and exited as he looked for a mossy rock or tree. Looking back once more at the den he stalked silently like a shadow into the darkness of the woods, his heart pounding against his chest in pain and thought.

Dustypaw expected hard shove and a laugh that shhe was forgiven, but neither came. But Cedarpaw had left. "Cedar?" She got to her paws, moss and nests forgotten, and ran out after him. What was up? Had he not heard her? She called after him, blue eyes wide as she looked for him in the camp. She found not hide nor hair of the calico tom. "Cedarpaw!" She called, her voice cracking. The sh-cat ran out of the camp, hesitant since she was without a warrior. She'd have to be swift. Her head whipped to the left, the light crunch of her paws on leaves signaling her approach. "Cedar i'm sorry alright. I-I've been just anxious is all. I care for you and don't want you to be rash because of me." She looked for her best friend, hoping she'd catch his spotted coat.

Cedarpaw kept on, keeping his ears back and listening for any approach of another cat. The leaves rustled behind him as he hid behind a skunk cabbage bush, concealing his scent, but also making him gag. Dusty ran through the forest and stopped a bit before the cabbage, she was franticly yowling for him, but he stayed where he was a slowly tried to back away, hoping she wouldnt hear his clumsy footsteps.

Her ears flicked, her head swiveling to a bunch of stinking cabbage. Her sharp eyes picked up immediately on the calico tom. "Cedar, what's wrong? You know I never meant to hurt you." She meowed, following closer. Dustypaw's dark blue eyes were dull, tired, she just wanted to be a good apprentice who would eventually be a warrior. With what was going on it was obviously going to take awhile. "Why do you walk away?" She asked quietly, stopping, looking away.

"Uh," he paused," Just, um, a bit crestfallen you know..." He clawed the ground nervously, then went back to looking for moss, his tail still a bit fluffed up and his eyes dull, holding back a shower of wet tears. Tail still drooping he began to slice off moss that had been growing against a nearby tree, the new camp had fresh moss, untouched by the fire from long ago.

Dustypaw sighed, just happy she found him, "Come on now, we gotta go back. I'll help you with the moss." She smiled brightly licking his ear for reassurance. "Best friends forever." She meowed aloud, walking over to the moss that was draped across the trees and among the roots. "Come on Cedar!" She purred, lashing her fluffy tail. She blinked at him, hoping to shove away any 'crestfallen' emotions. She tugged at some of the moss, raking her claws through it to comb out the thorns and leaves.

"Best friends forever, just that," he muttered to himself, too low for Dusty to hear. Gathering the moss under his chin and securing it he started his way back to camp at press paw speed, looking back to see if Dusty was following, his blue eyes flashing in the sunlight.

Dustypaw giggled, grabbing up the moss and following after Cedarpaw. She wasn't sure what her feelings were lately. Half of her wanted to drop the whole subject and get on with her life. Another wanted to get with it and let out her thoughts. Dustypaw's emotions towards anyone were shaky at best. Unstable and uncertain. Nonetheless she caught up to the tom, purring, "You aren't upset with me?" She asked, her own crystal eyes wide. She hoped not.

Cedarpaw looked over at her, hoping his eyes wouldnt show his emotions he looked forward, "N-no." he studdered then corrected himself, "You just startled me a bit when you snapped at me." They arrived in the camp and Cedarpaw went to his nest setting down his collection of moss and noticed his hawk feather he had gotten when he was a kit, now it was covered with dirt and leaves, brushing it off he stuck it in his nest and padded it down to form his shape.

She nodded runing into the den as well. She smiled as she saw his hawk feather. She looked to her left to ssee the neat llittle bluejay feather neatly tucked into a corner along with the rrest of her collection. Dustypaw began weaving her nest into the correct display, the way she had her first days in ththe nursery. One feather at aa time, she weaved them in too. Her eye grew glittery and nostalgic as she remembered it was her first adventure with Cedar. The tree incident and the scrabble they had. Dustypaw nudged the calico with her nose, "You remember those days too?" She asked with a soft purr.
