Leafpaw emerged into the apprentice's den; sunlight dappling onto her ginger-and-white pelt and her heart in her throat Would he be here? The question prickled at her conscious. Her amber gaze adjusted to the dim light of the den and it swept across the mass of mossy nests and sleepy apprentices. She suddenly felt very shy and self-conscious and she gingerly looked down at her fluffy ginger-and-white chest, checking that there weren't any burrs or thorns caught in it. She swallowed, composing herself. It was okay, they were just friends. She had missed his apprentice ceremony and she hadn't seen him at hers. Maybe he'd forgotten about her? She surveyed the den again, calling out softly, "Wolfpaw?" her gaze was alert for his familiar smoky grey fur and warm amber eyes. Maybe he was out training? Stop making excuses! a little voice said inside of her, He'll be in here somewhere, you just need to look for him. She swallowed, her heart fluttering slightly. Why did she feel this way about him? He was just a friend after all.
