Fernpelt was sniffing through the stores of herbs. She had known that Leaf-Fall was at its close, and the fire that wasn't more than perhaps 5 moons past had devastated the herb supply. At the very least, Fernpelt could go out and collect oak leafs and maybe raid a few Twoleg gardens for catmint. If the clan was going to stay healthy over Leaf-Bare, she knew that the foraging trip was necessary.
She stopped nosing about in the stores and sat by the entrance to her cave, sniffing the cool, fresh air. Leaf-Fall was one of her favorite times of the year, but then again, she loved almost all weather in the proper environments. She loved Leaf-Bare when she was cozy in her nest, warm and drowsy with the sounds of life stirring. She loved New-Leaf when she could be out walking in the forest, or with a breeze ruffling her fur. She loved Green-Leaf when she could be by a clear pool or stream in the shade. She loved Leaf-Fall as well, with the cool, brisk air that demanded her to get out and move.
She admitted to herself after these thoughts that the herb-foraging trip wasn't entirely for herbs. It was also for herself, who simply wanted to enjoy the air and the scenery. If one could do so while serving the clan as well, then why not! Fernpelt watched as a leaf fell to the ground, swaying back and forth as the air resisted it. She would tally up exactly what herbs she needed, perhaps employ someone to go along and help carry herbs, and then set off. She was feeling very excited.
