Mintpaw was skinnier than she should be. The rest of her clan mates still had meat on their bones unlike her. Her small frame resembled a kit. She was alone again. The only thing that made her seem like an apprentice would be her spiky fur which made her seem a bit taller. Her black pelt had gray patches, her claws were black like the sky. The night was cold but it didn't bother Mintpaw. She had to many other things on her mind. Her charcoal claws sunk deep into the solid ground as if the small cat was trying to steady herself as the wind crashed against her body. She was sitting outside the apprentice den. All the other cats were asleep, not like it would matter. If they woke they would just taunt Mintpaw. The petite she-cat's icy eyes burned with anger, regret, and hate. She lost her only friend who just happened to be her crush. A tear rolled down her sharp cheek bones. Her mentor was gone. She was alone once again, like when she was a young kit. Just for flirting with a tom because she was bored and didn't even think Breezekit would become Breezepaw. She thought he had left, then all the sudden he entered her life at every corner. He spoke now, their seemed to be no connection anymore. And maybe that was a good thing. Maybe nobody should be around the thin she-cat, ever.

I watched Mintpaw from the ceiling of the apprentice den, my eyes full of pity and empathy. Finally I slid out of the thick clumps of bracken and branches. My paws were nearly silent, and I curled my body around Mintpaws. My tail swished around her, and I was soon a comforting furry border between her and the world. "If you want to let it out, you should now. No one will hurt you now." My voice was a soft murmur and I gazed at her with sea blue eyes, warm and concerned.

Coralpaw saw some cats and padded over. SHe noticed a thin she-cat and thanked ClouClan that she wasn't the only cat who was a bit smaller than she should be.
