Dogkit padded into the Medicine den, some blood trickling from her ear. She had jumped over a hole and carelessly ripped through a thorn bush while doing so, which had torn her skin behind her ear. She scanned the den for the Medicine cats, her nose engulfed with so many herb scents that she sneezed.
Dogkit had developed a terrible habit of scratching her tear, and she hoped Forestbreak or Clovepetal could get her minor injury fixed up.

Forestbreak took one look at the kit and immediately noticed the scratch. She furrwed her eyebrows and leaned a litte closer, noticing that it was not bleeding, but looked a bit infected. "Have you been scratching this?" was all she said, and hurriedly snatched some marigold from her herb store. "Don't scratch it anymore. It can make your cut infected and open it up."
The medicine cat sighed, beginning to chew up the marigold. Once that was done, she began applying the poultice to the kit's skin.

Soon the Medic appeared and instantly noticed her small injury. Dogkit's ears flattened when Forestbreak asked if she had scratched it, and nodded.
She waited when the tabby applied the poultice to her cut, then asked "What's it like being a medicine cat?"

"Well, don't scratch it anymore," she mewed gently. "That can make is even worse. And you don't want that, do you?" Forestbreak purred.
"Being a medicine cat? It's just like being a normal cat, except you sleep in a different den, and instead of hunting and fighting, you heal others." It was the best explanation she could come up with. "It can be dreary sometimes, and hard or sad sometimes, but all in all, it's a very rewarding pursuit."
