He had always been cautious to make the first move. Though he was instructed to keep the battle on his own terms, the tom was partial to reacting rather than taking action. Cinderpaw knew he was being baited, but made the decision to take the bait. He slammed the ground as he broke his rearing stance and charged head on at Nightstalker, planning to leap at the last moment to land lightly behind her with a nip to her tail.

Nightstalker braced herself, trying to plan out what her next move would be for anything he could do. She watched his paw steps hoping to catch what he was going to do. Sadly she couldn't tell so she sprinted away about 5 or so fox lengths and twisted to face him, "My turn?"

He cut his sprint short as the she-cat raced away. When she spoke, Cinderpaw dropped into a prepared position, his head slightly lower than the rest of his body, ready to dodge or parry an attack. "Be my guest," he meowed, grinning. His old mentor had a new apprentice in his absence, so this mock battle was a welcome chance at something similar to training.

Nightstalker raced forward eyes blazing and intent on her target. As she approached she zig zagged back and fourth them jumped to the side and leaped over Cinderpaw and rolled into a stance. Then emidiatley sprung at him again, barely stopping for a breath.

It was impossible to keep an eye on the she-cat! She zigged and zagged.. how was she even still moving? Cinderpaw would have made himself dizzy with all those maneuvers. Heck, just watching made him a little woozy. He was unprepared for the warrior when she jumped, and found himself helpless to the assault.

She felt her paw grasp his shoulder as she leaped over him and tumbled on the ground in a heap. Hopefully she managed to knock him over that would give her enough time to regain her balance. Huffing with effort she lifted herself to her paws realizing how tired she was getting. Now that new leaf was here she was getting lazy.

After he was once again knocked over by the warrior, the tom decided the pain in his shoulder was telling him it was time to call it quits. "Alright, alright, you win. Damn my leg," he hissed the last part to himself. Cinderpaw picked himself up and shook out his body, letting the dust of the earth fall out of his gray fur.

Night smiled at her win. "Shoulder bothering you?" She asked, eyes full of concern. She definitely didn't want to injure him, he was one of her best friends. "Think you need some more training?"

"I think I need a break until later," He smiled through his pain. It wasn't unbearable, just a little.. overowked. He'd be feeling that for the next few days, it had been awhile since he got a good work out. The tom was pretty out of shape for a warrior in training.

Shrugging she purred, "Well you"ll have to join me in the warrior den sometime." Night looked him over, his shoulder didn't look that wretched, but it seemed to be bothering him a lot. "Cinder, what will your warrior name be?"

"I don't know. That's for our leader to decide. I want something strong, though. Something really cool," The tom puffed out his chest in a fake display of pride. "Something like Cinderfeather isn't a very masculine or strong name, y'know? I'd like something like.. Cinderclaw or Cinderfang or maybe Cinderstrike!"

"You sound very enthusiastic!" Night laughed, all those names were cool but she had always wanted Nightbriar. Sadly she didn't get that name, but hers was cool as it was. "How about Cinderhawk, or Cinderswoop?"
She tried the more tribal names. She had heard of the tribes in old elder stories, but she barely knew anything about them.

"They sound a bit theatrical, don't they? I want something that sounds.. real," The tom's ear flicked a little as his tail tip curled up slightly. A silly little twitch. "I like your name, it's pretty and fierce and fits you well," Cinderpaw grinned again.

Night smiled back at him, a bit tainted with embarrassment, she felt her fur getting hot and sticky. "Awe thanks Cinder," she mewed. "I can't think of many good names that aren't taken."
And she couldn't, she was having a brain fart of some sort. Well at least that's what she thought, for all she knew she could just be stupid.

"It's a good thing we don't have to, that's for Beechstar to decide anyways," The tom laughed in his good natured way. "But, y'know, I still hope for the best and all," The gray cat's whiskers twitched in a cat form of shrug.
