Spokenpaw lay under a tiny maple while the afternoon sun warmed her tan fur. It felt nice, but she had done this alot lately. It was becoming very boring. She just wanted to have some fun around here! She had not seen any of her friends today and they were probably training. Unlike her. Spokenpaw was just getting older and older and wasn't having any fun. 'This is most definitely not good,' she thought. As she got her lazy self up, she looked around the see if any apprentices could play with her or something. Spokenpaw felt the urge to shout out who wanted to play, but she bitterly remembered how she couldn't speak. Reviving herself from that gloomy state, Spokenpaw continued to search.

Kestrelpaw poked her head into the apprentice's den. She had just returned from her self-training. Her mentor was rather busy and had not had time to train her just yet, so she had decided she wasn't going to be a pain in the tail. She'd train herself. But now...she was just looking for someone to talk to. Spokenpaw was always a good choice. Despite being deaf, as funny as it sounded, she was a great listener and tons of fun.
"Spokenpaw?" She walked over to the apprentice, who was sitting alone, looking bored and upset. "What's wrong?"

Spokenpaw saw Kestrelpaw come up, but didn't see what she had said. (that sounded strange, didn't it?) "I'm sorry, what? I didn't see your mouth when you spoke," she mouthed politely. Spoken thought it was nice to see her new friend Kestrelpaw.

(Hehe, I've seen stranger)
"I said, is something wrong? You look upset, Spokenpaw." Kestrelkit sat down next to the other apprentice.

"Oh. I'm just sooooo bored. I've been here at least a moon and haven't had ANY training! I keep getting older and most of my old friends have already become warriors and are training their own apprentices now. I just wanna have some fun right now," she mouthed slowly, looking at her friend.

"I know what you mean," Kestrelpaw agreed. "My mentor hasn't had time to train me either. They're too busy, I suppose. But you said you want to have fun? Let's have fun!" She sprang up and said, "Why don't we train together?"

"Are you serious?!" Spokenpaw mouthed excitedly and she hopped up beside Kestrelpaw. "Um...how do you train exactly?"

"Play fight, normally. I'll go easy on you if you want, but you'll be able to hear the vibrations from my movement either way." Kestrelpaw knew it would be significantly harder for Spokenpaw than any other apprentice, but then, when they were warriors, nobody would be taking it easy on her. She hoped Spokenpaw would agree.

"Uh...ok...." Spokenpaw mouthed nervously. She had never fought before and wasn't sure what to do. "Can you make the first move?" Spoken asked hesitantly.

"Sure," Kestrelpaw smiled reassuringly at the other apprentice, careful not to bare her teeth. After all, they were starting a fight and she wouldn't want to seem too threatening. She rammed her head into Spokenpaw's side, slightly more gently than she normally would. Her first fight shouldn't be too challenging.

A little stunned at Kestrelpaw's ramming, Spokenpaw fell to the ground even though it was a light hit. She just didn't know what to expect. Quickly getting up, Spokenpaw ran up to Kestrelpaw and swiped at her hind leg with her claws retracted, hoping to fumble her. 'This is kinda fun,' she thought excitedly.

Kestrelpaw stumbled, trying to dodge Spokenpaw's paws, but kept her footing. "Alright, let's try this out for real." She jumped up and came back down, trying to knock her over again and hold her in a lock.

Pinepaw kept an eye on Spokenpaw from his nest warily, tail twitching back and forth. His eyes were narrowed in concern as he watched the two she-cats spar. He had no wish for one of his best friends to get hurt from something like this. The idea wasn't appealing to him in the least. Sighing, he stood up and shook out his fur. What right did he have to be doing this anyway? He hadn't seen Spokenpaw since she was a kit anyway, he was out of line in his protectiveness. Still....
"Spo...." he began before remembering she wouldn't know he had said anything unless she had seen him. At the moment it seemed she was too caught up in her fight. Sighing, the tom sat back down with a slight frown over his features as he continued his vigilance.

She heard a noise coming from behind her and jumped off Spokenpaw immediately. If it was an intruder, both cats would need to be able to defend themselves. She turned slowly and saw Pinepaw, who she hadn't seen since she was a kit.
"Pinepaw," she sighed in relief. "I thought you were an intruder. And now I feel stupid, because I'm staring at the inside of the den." Then, she was curious. "What are you doing here?"

Raising an eyebrow at the demand, he chuckled. "Well, I am an apprentice too, you know." He supplied, thinking it was rather obvious anyway. Though he didn't say it, the tom was secretly relieved the play fight had stopped for now. He was way too protective he knew, but Spokenpaw was precious to him, and she was delicate. Or so he convinced himself to believe anyway. "So what are you two up to?" He murmured, rather waiting for Spokenpaw to notice and greet him, rather than charge on up to her himself.
