Graystripe vs. Brambleclaw

I hated Brambleclaw when he just had to become leader and he just had to rip away Ashfur's life.

I love love love both characters- both having their good and bad points as good character's should. And both are great warriors and I just love them both (maybe Greystripe more). But I think Brambleclaw was the better deputy.

As Moonpool pointed out, Brambleclaw complimented Firestar's character better as a deputy rather than Greystripe. Grey and Fire were the childhood friends- the warriors racing into battle. Brambleclaw I feel was more suited to be Firestar's deputy because they didn't have the personal friendship to get in the way of things gettting done the way things needed to be done. Brambleclaw thought logically and shared that with Firestar to help shape those needed decisions.

I'll have to go with Brambleclaw, he had a rough childhood, seeing many cats looked at him as mini Tigerstar, he didn't have much trust lent to him, but he stayed loyal unlike Graystripe, who mated with a she-cat from a different Clan. Brambleclaw was a bit more ambitious, but nothing like Tigerstar, Graystripe if you ask me was just there because he was Firestar's friend.

Personally when Graystripe "left" I was almost relieved, I always felt that Brambleclaw would make a better deputy. Brambleclaw went through more than Graystripe did, he lost his sister, his father was the biggest jerk, he had love that was ripped away from him, he thought he had kits but didn't and well Graystripe lost his forbidden mate and his half-Clan kit.

So in my opinion Brambleclaw would win

I would not use pasts in this argument because I find them equally taunting
Both technically had kit issues, Greystripe's first kits left the clan and one died and then his newer litter turned out fine till one became cripple
Brambleclaw kit wise still loves those three and only lost one, though they dislike him they do not blame him
Remember they technically both had half clan kits

Both were also rejected, Brambleclaw when he was a kit and Greystripe when he joined Riverclan and also when he came back to Thunderclan

Greystripe was taken away from him clan and he possibly believed he would never see his old life again...he also came back to the old forest and saw it changed a lot which had to be just awful
Brambleclaw had Squirrelflight issues but she never really betrayed him in my eyes since she was protecting her sister while Greystripe's first mate died in front of his eyes

Greystripe also had to struggle with mixed clan kit as did Brambleclaw(he thinks of them as his kits still)

Brambleclaw is a better match for Firestar but I would say they both equally make good deputies though Greystripe as a loyal warrior is more in my favor than loyal deputy.

1.He's just more loyal. To add to what sun said, about how Graystripr had kits with a RiverClan she-cat, that's bieng unloyal. And Brambleclaw killed his brother to save his leader. Imagine that. Which would you choose?

Brambleclaw also meet with Hawkfrost out of the Dark Forest many times but he did kill him so that is kinda justified..And also went to dark forest, I know not completly willingly but he still did and that would be an 'unloyal' act but Dark Forest is a load of boloney soooooo, no one cares

Killing your insane HALF brother that really meant nothing to Brambleclaw on a brotherly level isn't too hard

Greystripe also struggled with the accidental killing of Whitethroat(ithinkthatshisname) and Tigerclaw's constant hatred for him though on Brambleclaw's end it was much worse with him

I always found kits with another cat from another clan to be a really cheap way of saying he was unloyal, like if Brambleclaw meet Tawnypelt after they split up I would not consider it unloyal same with Bluestar and her kits or Fireheart/Cloudtail and Princess
Love is love and they were not putting their clan in harms way by any means

Brambleclaw did consider killing Firestar, not a lot, but he still did
(I am on Brambleclaw's side as a better deputy for sure but not when it comes to 'having a worse life' and 'loyalty'...Brambleclaw was rocking on the loyalty when he was an apprentice)

But Brambleclaw did bring sexy back so you got me there ..... darn
