I have an Idea:
Why don't we stop looking at the bad stuff, which I am sure you all did when you were writing, and start looking at the GOOD?
Yes? Ok then!
I think it was VERY good. When describing something, you use the present tense, as you so mentioned, and I think it sounded the way it should. Today at school I spoke to my LA teacher about this, and yes gave Marbledkit ALL credit for the phrase, and since she is the highest ranking LA/SS/R teacher in our school, she said that it made complete sense.
Overall, I think you did the best you could, It sounded great, and with a few (And I mean like 1-2)grammatical changes, it would be a publishable story, Marbledkit!
GREAT JOB!

Sometimes, but I think when criticism is the ONLY thing someone is getting, especially with writting, it just make the person NOT want to write.. I have learned that first hand. Or is it right?

Constructive criticism is what makes people improve Amen to this! Sadly, only complimenting people on their art or writing will not help them get better. That doesn't mean that you can't compliment them- complimenting is great- but it's also good to throw in some suggestions for improvement. Then, next time they write or create something, they can take your suggestions into account and make something even better than the last piece. As long as you put your criticism nicely, it's a great thing to do for an artist or writer. c:

Sometimes, but I think when criticism is the ONLY thing someone is getting, especially with writting, it just make the person NOT want to write.. When you post a work here, you're meant to receive constructive criticism - which is precisely what was provided. Coddling alone does nothing to help you work on making your writing better. In fact, it can have the opposite effect. When you make constructive criticism, you mention things that were done well. You also talk about what could be improved and how. That's what everyone has been doing in this thread.

Yes, that is what I meant, but I think we (not me) were mostly giving Marbled critisism without listening to his reasoning.

Alright, that's quite enough. This is moving too far off the subject of Marbled's story. If you wish to continue to debate about how good criticism is, either take it to PM, or post a thread about it in the Debate Club.
