Koisplash gave a small hum. "Yes, I guess I did," she replied jokingly. She wasn't sure whether to laugh or to roll her eyes. "Oh, warriors these days. They try so hard."
The tip of her tail twitched as she wrapped it around her paws. "They're not the same as her generation, though," she pointed out, lightly nudging him. "If they were, we'd probably actually have a sensible Clan with more hunting and less drama."

Beechstar yawned and actually laid down next to her, but kept his head up. "Our generation is growing thin. It's a shame..." He just looked down for a moment. "I'm glad I have you, Koisplash." You're one of the only reasons why I came back after I disappeared..

"Well...that's their problem, then," Koisplash commented. But she also thought of the newer warriors she's seen and her last apprentice, Moonclaw. "Not too thin, though..."
She tried and failed to stifle a small yawn herself. Normally, she wouldn't stay up this late, but she had no deputy duties to attend to in the morning now. Yet, even when she felt as if she were teetering on the verge of nodding off, something about Beechstar's last statement shot prickles up her pelt that jolted her abruptly awake again. The sensation surprisingly wasn't unpleasant.
"...You'll always have me," she finally said, at a bit of a loss of what else to say. Her voice was soft. "And I'm glad I have you, too. I might not be your second anymore...but you're first to me."

"You can lay back down, Koisplash. Don't let me keep you awake." Beechstar sighed and nudged her on the side with his paw. His face felt really hot when she said that. If cats could blush, the leader would be blushing. "Thanks.." Was the only thing he could think of saying. He hadn't spoken to someone like this for seasons. "I uh.." Beechstar was really struggling on what to say to her. "I remember that day. When I was really sick... I remember what you said."

"No, no, it's fi...fine," Koisplash answered in an attempt at reassurance, being interrupted by her own yawn in the middle—rendering her point somewhat moot. She managed a little smile. "I don't think I'll really need the sleep anyway."
What came next, however, was more than a little off-putting. For one awkward moment, she only blinked a few times. At first, she was completely lost. Wait, what day? Which day when you were sick? There were a lot of...
Then it hit her, and the ground seemed to have dropped out from under her completely.
Oh. Oh.
Koisplash made a sound, almost a cough, as she tried and failed to ignore the heat in her fur. "Really?" she asked, her voice a little too strangled to be normal. "...You were delirious. What do you remember me saying?"
