The red female stepped forward to stop him from eating all of the seeds - but of course he did not. He had a mind of his own, an independent mind, and one that he was losing. Her mouth formed a small 'o' as he collapsed to the ground. He would be a sleep for quite a while, she wouldn't be able to give him any herbs to chew, and even potentially, though she feared the idea, dead.
Makoce headed into the forest to get the first things she needed - cobweb and feverfew, to stop the bleeding and fever. Goldenrod would grow near the edge of the trees, while horsetail would grow nearer to the marsh. I have a long ways to walk, don't I? The lavender wouldn't be hard to find, at least. Neither would the oak leaves or stinging nettle plant. Marigold would be nearest to the feverfew at the edge of a stream she knew well.
Once these things were collected, she headed back towards their temporary den, where Rueff was still in his deep sleep. She sad beside him, chewing the goldenrod and stinging nettle leaves into a poultice to apply to his wound - these would help heal the wound. Next, horsetail, marigold, and oak leaves were applied for the infection that was clear in his thigh. She wrapped the cobwebs tightly and firmly around his leg, in order to stop the bleeding and hold the poultices in place.
She he would give him the feverfew to eat once he woke. It would be hard for him to walk with the cobwebs bound onto his leg, but she wouldn't let him walk anyways. She placed the lavender underneath his nose, so when he breathed in, he'd inhale the scent - this would help with any fever that infections had brought on. She rested her own head on her paws, and waited.

THE FIRST THING I LEARNED IS TO NOT CRY WITHOUT YOU. SECOND, TO NOT WALK ALONE. THIRD, EVEN IF IT HURTS, TO NOT CALL YOUR NAME AND LOOK FOR YOUR WARM HANDS.
