Palekit stumbled into the nursery. She was finally getting the hang of walking. She glanced around the den, hoping to find someone to play with. Wanting to put the spotlight on herself, she padded to the middle of the den and stood on her toes. "Hello?" She asked aloud, perking her ears for any sign of someone replying. I'm so bored!

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,,
Lionkit cocked his head and opened his eyes, disturbed by a sudden voice. he hadn't been sleeping, but simply resting with his eyes closed, and the calling voice had seemed more interesting. Raising his head the golden tom stared at a puffy looking she-cat and immediately smiled. Her fur looked like a cloud and it made his kit mind very cheerful. "Who are you talking to?" He asked curiously, standing up in his nest.

Palekit purred as she got a response and padded closer to Lionkit. "I wasn't talking to anyone in particular, but now that you heard me, I'm taking to you!" She exclaimed, nearly bouncing towards the tom's nest. "What are you doing?" She asked, eyes bright. I like the look of this kit. He looks like a friend. She thought, waiting for him to respond. I hope he wants to play a game like I do!

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, Lionkit sat up straighter, attempting to look composed and friendly as the she-cat approached him. He smiled, fiery eyes lighting up at her words. Speaking to him now? He was definitely happy with that. "And now I'm speaking to you," he laughed, finding it incredibly funny, in a cheerful way. "My name is Lionkit, what about you?" The tom asked, tilting his head curiously. He was always going to be hopeful at the prospect of finding a new friends, since he really had none, apart from his sister. "I'm not doing anything, I'm just very bored. You were too, right?"

Palekit giggled as the tom copied her reply back. She sat down, noticing that Lionkit was too. "Nice to meet you Lionkit! That's a nice name. My name's Palekit." She nodded, then gave her chest fur a lick to look more proper in front of her acquaintance. She was excited to have a new possible friend as well; this was the first time she'd formally met a kit like herself. "Yes, I'm bored. Do you have anything you'd like to do? Games? Chat?" She brought up possible suggestions, wondering what Lionkit had in mind.

"Palekit?" He purred, tipping his head with curiosity. "I like it, it's really pretty," the young tom informed her truthfully. It matched her fluffy appearance too, and he still couldn't get the idea of a cloud out of his head. A cloud for a friend, it sounded too good to be true. Lionkit huffed and flexed his paws anxiously. "We can do anything! I'm just glad to have a friend now. Have you got anything you'd like to do?"

"Aw, thank you. Your name really matches you; to me you look like a mini lion! Or, what a lion in my head looks like at least." She meowed, having only heard stories of the huge cats. As he meowed again, Palekit beamed. He considered her a friend already? This was sweet! She shook her head at his question. "No, I don't know what to do either. Let's just sit here and talk, maybe then we'll have an idea of what to do." She meowed. It was a lame idea, but what else could they do? She got into a comfy position, fur squishing everywhere and she looked even more like a cloud.

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, A lion? Lionkit puffed his chest out at that comment proudly, hoping his raised fur might even resemble a mane. He'd never seen a lion either of course, but the stories he'd heard were more than enough to make him happy. "You think? Well you remind me of a fluffy cloud, and I love that," he replied amiably. The suggestion may have been strange, but Lionkit was always content to settle down and relax when given the opportunity. Following Palekit's lead the ginger tucked his paws in and ruffled up his fur for comfort. "What would you like to talk about? Biggest fear? Dreams for the future? I don't know, special things like that."

Palekit giggled, noticing how Lionkit puffed out his chest. He does look like a lion! Maybe he is one. I can't believe IceClan has their very own lion! she thought, widening her eyes at the cloud remark. Is that a fat joke? Palekit laughed it off and fluffed her gray and white fur out more, "I could see it. I even feel like a cloud." She paused, watching as Lionkit settled down. She half-shrugged at his questions. "Whatever you want to talk about! My biggest fear is probably the dark. It's so scary at night! As for dreams for the future, I just want to be a great and strong warrior!" The she-kit exclaimed. "What about you?"

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, Lionkit giggled, ducking his head into his furry chest. "I can see it. I'm jealous," he sputtered, slitting his eyes with humor. "My fur is all ragged and thick, but it's not soft or flowing like yours." Of course similar to Palekit, it was his fur that defined him, so he couldn't really complain. His eyes clouded over briefly while thinking, taking his time as Palekit continued to talk. She was afraid of the dark? He looked at her curiously. "Really? How do you sleep at night? Is it hard?" He questioned curiously, having not known a fear like that himself. "I'm afraid of being left behind," the tom admitted with a faint shrug. "And I want to be a hero!"

"Well, maybe great big lions have ragged fur like you. It'd keep them warm." She said, fixing her eyes on the tom's golden pelt. "My fur may be huge and soft, but I shed everywhere! You should see my nest. It's a furry mess." Palekit complained. But I bet just about every cat has a problem with their fur. She thought, and put it to the back of her mind as Lionkit began speaking. "Yes, it's kind of hard. I try to fall asleep as fast as I can!" The she-kit exclaimed, glad Lionkit didn't make fun of her fear.
When it was his turn, the patched kitten listened closely. "Hm. Well, I'll never leave you behind if it makes you feel any better."

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, Lionkit purred and nodded, wanting it to be true. He couldn't imaging shedding fur in her nest would be awful either. Surely it would just make her nest even softer with more or her fur in it. It wasn't something he really knew much about, since he didn't shed a large amount. "I bet your nest is really comfortable though," he injected with a crooked smile, partially teasing. Curiously he tilted his head. "Does sleeping with your mother help? What about when we're apprentices, wont it be harder sleeping alone?" The tom questioned, not purposefully trying to create bad possibilities, but intrigued despite himself. He smiled and purred, warmed by her unnecessary kindness. "Thank you. I wont leave you behind in the dark either."

Palekit shrugged. My nest feels more hot and cluttered than comfortable. She snorted, taking a look back at it. I could probably clean it soon... How come the apprentices don't clean the nursery that often? Maybe they're always busy with training. She turned her head to Lionkit again as he spoke. "Sleeping with my mother does help, but I've looked in the apprentice den before; it's not very big! The nests are sort of packed together in clumps. I think I'll be okay." Palekit purred. She was happy that Lionkit seemed to care. He's a sweet cat. The fluffy kitten laughed. "Aw, good. Friends forever then."

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, The fact that Palekit had seen the apprentice den was exciting. It was another thing they had in common, and any link he could draw with becoming apprentices was amazing for him. "Doesn't it look great in there?" He enthused, waving his tail with the words. "Don't worry, maybe when we're apprentices we can put our nests together. Do you think that'd help too?" The scruffy tom asked, wanting to be helpful, but reluctant to force his friendship onto the she-cat.

"It really does look amazing! I can't wait until it's our turn to be in there." Palekit meowed, already fantasizing how it would feel to be an apprentice. It seemed so far off. At the tom's meow she laughed. "I'd love that! You're a very sweet and helpful cat. Did anyone ever tell you that?" She asked, really meaning it. She wondered if Lionkit had any friends besides herself. I want to meet them if he does.
