LilypawShiverpaw left the apprentice's den and poked his head into the nursery. It had been moons since he'd been there, and now he was almost a warrior. He wanted to see what had changed. As he looked in, he noticed that there were an awful lot of kits. The poor queens! he thought. He carefully entered, hoping he could enter without getting in trouble.

Lilykit hopped out of her nest when she heard someone padding into the den. "Who's there?" She asked. She strained her eyes in the dark and she made out an image of an older cat. "Hi." Lilykit mewed. "Surely you can't be a kit?"

Shiverpaw smiled as he heard the voice of a she-kit, one of the things he hadn't heard in moons. "Yeah, I'm a apprentice. Almost a w-w-warrior. Hi, I'm Shiverpaw." He sat down next to the kit. "Sorry, you're so tiny. I haven't seen kits forever."

"I am not tiny!" Lilykit objected as he sat down by her. "You're not even that old!" She purred and laughed. "Before long I'll be as big as you, and we can see who's all talk." She mewed with a challenging smile.

He smirked. "I'll be a warrior soon, and you're still a k-k-ki-" he paused. He took a deep breath and continued. "a kit. So I'm a lot bigger than you. But you'll be a feisty one, I-I-I can tell."

"I'll be an apprentice soon." Lilykit insisted. "And you're still an apprentice, so you're really not too much older." Lilykit gave him a challenging smirk. "Good luck dealing with me when I'm as big as you, I'm sure you'll really enjoy that." She purred.

"Mothbriar.. I don't k-k-k.." he tried again. "know my f-father." Shiverpaw shifted awkwardly from one paw to the other. He had a stutter.

"Well, that's okay." She mewed. "Most cats don't know who their father is. But I know that my father is Cloudspirit." Lilykit mewed with pride and puffed out her chest. "And my mother is Rainlight, I was told... You probably don't know her."
