A lump of black fur dragged herself back into the camp of the Iceclan in the middle of the night after sitting at the same spot Cloudspirit left for Fireclan sense morning light. She didn't want to be in the warriors den so instead she crawled over to a rock she use to sleep on and then she sighed laying down on her side as her dark blue eyes stared up at the sky. She didn't sleep, but just lay there staring at the sky.
"He's really gone.." she whined and sighed.

i've never known a man who loved me | Berrypaw couldn't sleep either. As much as she didn't want to admit it, nightmares plagued her dreams whilst she slept that night. So instead, she quietly slipped out of the den as to not wake her siblings, and trotted restlessly into the moonlight. It wasn't hard to spot her mother, perched a top a rock, looking quite sad as she gazed at the sky.
The apprentice tilted her head, and, shivering like the sickly apprentice she was, made her way up. She coughed, not to alert Ashmist, but merely as she had to, just like every other second of her life. "Who's gone?" She inquired, oblivious to the fact that her father left them. "Why are you so sad, Mommy?" |

"A-AH! Berrypaw, why are you awake!?!" she asked and looked at her as she sat up as she pulled Berrypaw over to her with her paw. She wrapped around the young apprentice and sighed. "I don't want to tell you sweet-heart.. its not a good story to hear.." she mewled and sighed "Just know that mommy is very upset and will be for quiet some time" she said.

| i've never known a man who loved me | Berrypaw hesitated, then shrugged. "Couldn't sleep," she stated. The small apprentice cuddled against her mother, grateful for the warmth. She looked up with wide, curious eyes. "You can tell me," she murmured. "I'm tough enough to handle it." She meowed.
After a moment, she said, "The real reason I'm out here is because I was having nightmares. I'm sure it couldn't be worse than those." she mewled. "How about you tell me whats bothering you, and I can tell you about why they're bothering me? If you want to know, obviously." |

The warrior sighed and looked down her kit. "Berrypaw this will be hard for you to hear.. but your father.. h-he left Iceclan to go.." she remembered what she told him but she couldn't lie to her kits. "He went to go live in Fireclan with that queen he had kits with before you guys were born.. daddy's gone.. and so I'm not strong anymore.. you got to realize I won't be the best cat, not that I was before but.." she sighed and shook her head.
"Why you having nightmares doll?"

| i've never known a man who loved me | Berrypaw listened, her features becoming cold and hard. "That scum!" She muttered under her breath, shaking her head. She coughed, and sneezed, before looking up to Ashmist. "Mommy, he doesn't deserve you. He's a cheat, a liar. You know that, right? You deserve someone better, okay?" She murmured encouragingly in between coughs. "If he wants to go stay with some FireClan mouse-dung, that's good for him. We don't need him in our family, he was a terrible father anyways. And from what I hear, a terrible mate," she meowed. "He never even visited me once. The best cat? What do you mean? You'll always be the best cat to us, I promise."
She shrugged. "I don't know..." she frowned. "Maybe it was because I was afraid something like this could happen. Maybe it was because I was worried for Dustypaw and Snowpaw. Maybe I was worried for you, spending so much time with Clouspirit." After a moment, she tilted her head. "How many mates has he had?" |

[ this will be lazy so watch out! ] "I walked him to the border I could of stopped him and I didn't." she mewled and shook her head sadly as she lay her head down and sighed "You really need meds from Flamingthorn." she said and shook her head as she sighed "He did what made him happiest and I'm ok with that" that was a major lie, but she couldn't let her kits see her depressed. She then smiled weakly "Thanks sweet-heart.." She whispered and looked at her. "Ah prediction nightmares," she said nodding.
"I.. he's had less then me, he had like four I think." she mewled. "Ive had more, I don't have luck with love.. least to say with daddy gone, and mommy having bad luck with love you won't have another daddy." she mewled.

I almost feel bad for that FireClan queen," she looked up at her mother. "Please don't be sad. You'll be better off without him, I promise. Besides, we need you around, not moping, okay? Just because we're almost warriors doesn't mean we don't need you any less."
She paused, frowning. "That's a lot. And I bet you, all the break ups were his fault, not his mate's. All of your mates have been idiots, I'm sure. Just like him." She frowned. "How about if you fall in love, let me meet him first, okay?" |

"Ya tell that to your sister Whitepaw, she disagrees majorly now that shes not a kit she wants nothing to do with me." she mewled and looked down "Her and Dustypaw, I think you and Badgerkit are the only one that care for me." she mewled again and then shook her head sighing "Berrypaw? Remember Uncle Thornfrost? He was a former mate of mine, so was Uncle Badgerclaw whom you haven't met best mates ill ever have but I lost them." she mewled and then sighed.
"I don't know what to think Berrypaw.. I just I wanted everything to be perfect for you and its not going that way."

we all hide behind masks  Badgerkit wandered into the conversation, a while after she heard her name. She was curious to hear about the words her mum had to say about her father. She bounded over to her mother and looked up at her. Were they talking about Cloudspirit leaving?
Mom, our lying, cheating, mouse-brained father said he was leaving for Fireclan! You can't let him do that! We might know his secret about his other kits but he can't leave you. It's not right! She cried, looking up at her mother.

We're better off without that liar," she meowed truthfully, turning her head as her sister approached. She had never really gotten the chance to bond with Badgerkit. The shivering female coughed, as was expected.
"Oh, hi Badgerkit!" She yawned. "We can let him. And we have to. He deserves to be hated, anyways. First he has kits with a FireClan queen, even though Mommy still loves him, then he has kits with her, and then finally, he leaves her and us. I'm sure he said he loved you, Mom, when he left. But don't believe him. He was probably using you." |

Glowkit was oblivious to almost everything. She didn't mean to be, it was just her. Sighing, she realized that she had walked into the middle of a conversation. She looked at the three cats gathered, and realized it wasn't a happy one either. "S-sorry....", she murmured to the older cats. "I was...just wandering...." her voice faded.

The mother sighed and she pulled her kit over as she wrapped her body around Badgerkit. "Its to late honey.." she mewled and she looked at her with tears in her eyes "I didn't want him to leave.. I.. I still love him, I want him to be mine, but he doesn't want to be here, he wants to be with his other kin.. sense their all young and all but you are grown up.." she mewled and lay her head down. It took everything in her power not to cry.
The pain hit her and love all in one. "But remember what I told all of you right off the bat? I can't answer all the questions that you have only some questions a father has." she said and then she bit her lower lip. "I-.. T-That's probably true..."
She then looked at the other kits "Errr.. i-its ok Glowkit, you just don't want to be here for this conversation honestly"

Glowkit observed the look of sadness in the biggest cat's eyes. She looked so sad! Glowkit's instincts to help almost took over her for a second, before she realized there was probably nothing she could do to help them. She hated feeling like this! Then, fighting her instincts, she nodded, and asked one last question. I'll go away after this one. she promised herself.
So, the little compassionate creature looked the warrior right in the eyes and said, "Is there anything you need? Anything I can do to help?"
