[ this is a goodbye thread to Ashmists children Lynxtuft, Badgerpaw, Sorrelpaw, Shiro, Snowfall, Thornfrost] The she-cat sighed, she couldn't take it. Her kits were grown up and no longer needed her. The she-cat thought it was time to say good-bye, she was going to chase after Cloudspirit and hopefully be welcomed into Fireclan. She knew this was not what she was ever wanting to do, due to she hated the whole idea of betraying her clan. But it was needed. The she-cat sighed and then lowered her head. " Children? Thornfrost?" |

i've never known a man who loved me | Berrypaw looked up as her mother called her and her siblings from the apprentice den. She frowned. Huh? It's way too early, she thought in annoyance. She would have thought differently if she had known what this little family gathering would lead to.
She padded out into the crisp, morning air. "Mama!" She grinned, rubbing her head against her mother's jaw. She stepped back, examining Ashmist's face. She had almost the same expression when she had ran into her whilst she was thinking of Cloudspirit. "Is something wrong? Please don't tell me your sad about Cooudspirit again." |

we all hide behind masks  Badgerkit came running into the camp looking at her sister Berrypaw and her mother. Was something wrong?
Is something wrong Mum?
Her eyes teared up as she looked at her mother and observed her mothers face.

Thornfrost padded towards Ashmist and her small gathering, summoned by his own name. He was automatically concerned at the sight of her, something which had become habit. Not only that, the black she-cat seemed distressed, or distracted over something. "Ashmist," he purred tentatively, greeting the she-cat with a lick on the ear. "What is troubling you?" Casting around he looked at Badgerkit and Berrypaw, who had also gathered and seemed just as confused as he was. That wasn't a good sign.

trouble.  Whitepaw heard her siblings being called together. Great. Another lecture. Will this not ever end? The black and white she-cat walked out, narrowing her eyes against the, for once, sunny sky. "What is it?" she meowed. |

"She sighed as they all gathered slowly, she was only missing Snowpaw and Dustypaw and she was sure their siblings would tell him. She lowered her head and sighed "Children, you all have grown up and no longer need me as a mother it seems. I want to wish you all luck on your journey to the warrior life, and even after that.." she mewled and looked down.
"I have decided to go to Fireclan with your father.. I need him more then you need me I will see all you at gatherings I hope." she mewled. "I have called Thornfrost here to watch over you .. he will be your guardian if you need anything" she said with a sigh.

trouble. The news hit her hard. Her claws unsheathed, burying deep into the ground. She was done with the idiotic ways of her parents. "You coward!" she spat, fur sticking straight in the air. "You are blind by false love. He doesn't love you. He doesn't care about you! He wants that queen, not you! You are so blind. I wish I had never been born to you two! I hate you!" she screamed, lashing her tail. She whirled around, stalking away. |

"Im only a kit! I still need you!" She cried out looking at her.
Badgerkits eyes teared up and she went to sob but Whitepaw cried out before her in hateful words. She looked over her siblings and nearly sobbed again. Raging angry thoughts were on her tongue but she curbed it. It wouldn't help anyone at this point, she'd made up her mind and that was that. Tears ran down the small kits face. Her own mother wouldnt even see her become an apprentice? Her siblings were nearly warriors now and she hadnt even become an apprentice. How saddening. Her pale green eyes looked over her mother and went to speak.
"If this is how you feel.. Mum, Cloudspirit doesn't love you. He loves Rainlight. He told me that our litter was never meant to happen. We're the mistakes, but we need you love like a kit needs his mothers side. He has more kits in Fireclan mum. He has a whole nother litter after Buckkit, Bramblekit, and Lilypaw. He's moved on." She meowed, standing next to Thornfrost.
The black she kit looked up at him and smiled, tears staining her face and her pale green eyes sad. She couldn't believe her own mum was leaving her.
"You'll never watch us grow up. A.and that's too bad. Badgerclaw would be disappointed in you Mum. He'd never leave over some stupid she cat. And you can't outrun your problems." She growled softly, pressing her soft body to Thornfrost.
He was her guardian now. He'd protect her in ways that her parents couldn't anymore. He'd see her grow up and be a great warrior like a parent should. Even if he wasn't her father, she'd treat him with the love and affection she possibly could.

"You're a bloody coward. Good riddance to ya. The fact that you'll follow a man so blindly when he left to go be with some other woman. Begone with you already. I don't need someone with the absence of a backbone in my life." He lashed his tail. "Go be with the other coward, he's as much of a loser for leaving us. Get outta here, I don't wanna see your face anymore after hearing this." He hissed.
He couldn't take the idiocy in all this. Betraying your Clan for someone who did the same for such an irrational decision? "Who needs parents anyway." He scoffed. "Oh how lovely! She thinks hooking us up with a babysitter is going to fix everything, or justify it!" He narrowed his eyes.
"Well I don't need either of you." He pushed past them and began walking away. "Oh yeah, guess I better get myself another mentor." He shot Ashmist a cold glare and left.

The small sickly apprentice had thought she had helped. I've thought wrong. I shouldn't have talked to her in the first place. It was a waste of time and breath.
She narrowed her blue eyes, shaking her head once she finished coughing. "Your an idiot, a coward. How dare you?" She hissed at her mother, backing up. "Chasing, love struck, after some guy that doesn't love you? He never loved you! He never loved anyone! He's a joke. Your a joke. Your both a bloody joke," she kept her cussing to a minimum.
"Don't ever show your face to us again, you hear? You won't see us again, I can tell you that. You won't watch us grow up. Thornfrost is more of a parent then either of you ever were," she spat, her usually calm blue eyes turned into a roaring, choppy gray sea. She stood protectively in front of her family. "Don't ever come near us again, any of us you love-struck idiot! If I see you around any of my real family again, I will personally dismember your body," she growled, whirling around to stalk away. "C'mon guys. She's useless. She's nothing to us. Let's go." Who leaves a child to be an orphan? |

Thornfrost stared at Ashmist in muted disbelief. He wasn't sure which was harder to believe, the fact she was running to the fermented dung-heap that was Cloudspirit, or the fact that she'd made him the guardian of her children. He had plenty to say to the scarred she-cat, but it seemed the others beat him to it, if a little less tactfully than he would have done himself. Though, he supposed everything he did came out that way. Perhaps a little judgement, a little force, was necessary here. "Ashmist, you deserve to search for more than a traitorous warrior that doesn't love you. I know that, even if you don't believe it." His heart would break with the disappointment of her decision if she left, and the empathetic tom would surely take on the regret that he believed Ashmist should feel. "I won't stop you; you know that of me by now, but I cannot accept this decision when it is so clearly wrong. I will watch over your children as you should have, but I will in no way encourage them to hold any affection for you after you betrayed them. They were more of a family than Cloudspirit could ever be."
Glancing down at the weight by his side, Thornfrost smiled at the presence of Badgerkit. The youngest of the litter, he supposed she would require the most attention, and he wouldn't mind giving it. A reminder of Badgerclaw, and already sounding so like him. It was painful and beautiful at the same time. With a sigh Thornfrost watched as each of Ashmist's children turned to walk away. There was no point holding them with their mother, he'd simply need to speak to all of them later. "Dustypaw I can be your mento-..." Thornfrost turned to say, but it appeared he had already left, and he turned to stare back at Ashmist in disapproval.
