Training (Puppet)

[DeShay]

DeShay walked around the badlands, with his new trainee hopefully following behind him. He had taken on a trainee, whom of which he had battled the day before, but he had seen how the cat was in danger do to lack of fighting skills, so he has somewhat adopted her. He looked behind him. "Are you ready, Puppet?" He called behind him.


Marionette

[Marionette]

Marionette yawned with a silent purr as she looked ahead of her at her new 'mentor' DeShay. Despite being a lot younger, she was about the same height due to her unusually long legs. "What will we be doing today?"

[DeShay]

DeShay gave a smile. "Well, since this is your first day, I can train you in a few things. You can be a ranger, where you will track things and only attack when necessary, or you can be a brute and become a blackguard. It's your choice." He swirled his tail in the air, and felt somewhat excitement to be training a trainee.

[Marionette]

Marionette tilted her head, a seemingly permanent open mouth smile on her unusually coloured and patterned face, "What do you think I'd be good at?"

[DeShay]

"In my opinion, you would make a good ranger. You're great at sneaking- you'll be able to easily track an enemy." He said, an encouraging grin on his face.

[Marionette]

"Ok I'll be a ranger then!" ShE purred, padding quickly after DeShay, "Wait up!"

[DeShay]

DeShay nodded at her choice. He flicked a tail at her, acknowledging that in his opinion she had made the right opinion. He stopped in a clearing, and when there was no prey in sight, he sat down. "You are going to try to track down prey. Here are a few tips: Look to the wind, it will usually carry the scents to you; and try to be as quiet as possible when tracking an enemy. As a ranger you will have to spy and track down clanners."

[Marionette]

Marionette's black eyes blindly looked at DeShay as he spoke. The odd feline stood up again, spinning around until she was facing the opposite direction to where the wind as heading. Her small ears were pricked as she continued to listen to the blue-eyed tabby. She couldn't smell any scents yet.

[DeShay]

"If you can, look around for anything that can indicate that a creature has been there recently. In the case of prey droppings, you have to sniff it to see if it's fresh, and then you can get on it's trail." He said, nodding in the direction of the prairie dog droppings on the ground.

[Marionette]

Marionette nodded, cringing a little, "Sniff droppings?" She felt disgusted by that. How could you sniff what had come out of another's rear?
She started to sniff, scenting something on the floor. She bent down. Poop! Her nose twitched as she sniffed.

[DeShay]

DeShay nodded. "Yes, I know it's disgusting, but it helps you find your prey. Now, can you pick up any scents from the droppings?"

[Marionette]

"Just smells like poop to me... What should I be able to smell?" Marionette asked curiously. She was never used to hunting... She just stole slop from kittypets' bowls when they're owners were out.

[DeShay]

"You're supposed to smell the scent of the animal, and you should be able to follow the scent trail to the prey." He said.

[Marionette]

Marionette sniffed it again. She would've made a joke but didn't know DeShay's backstory so didn't want to risk offending him as she was slightly frightened of him. "It kinda smells like a... Prairie Dog? I think they're called."

[DeShay]

DeShay took a sniff of the droppings. He nodded. "Yes, that's prairie dog. Now try to follow the scent trail."
