(Crow, you do realize that Artemis just attacked Crow, right? She clawed at her face. You didn't respond to it at all in your post, and it'd be godmodding if Crow managed to dodge or avoid it.)
To say Artemis was unimpressed was akin to saying water was wet. It seemed she was wrong about Crow possibly ending up like Strike. At least Strike had intelligence.
"I sincerely doubt you'll be saying that when you are severely injured in the future for your incredible rudeness and arrogance," she said curtly. "But I know a lost cause when I see one. I wish you much needed luck in your endeavors."
She turned away, good ear swiveling. It had gotten late, to the point where she'd be in her den now at other times. "Now, if you'll excuse me," she said much more neutrally, addressing both Vex and Crow, "I must be on my way. Good night to you both."
With that, the white-and-gray cat headed off. |

As the warmth on Crow's cheek dulled to more of an achy throb, her teal eyes watched the she-cat dart off, elegant in her opinion. She felt a lot more respect towards Artemis, much more than any cat she had yet to meet, aside from Drought, but then again not many really dared talk to her. Or they couldn't be bothered. Probably more they didn't even care she existed, in her own words.
When Artemis's tail disappeared, Crow turned back to Vex and flicked her tail slightly. "I suppose you think you win. I'll let you." With just a smirk and a genuine, respectful flick of her long tail, Crow turned and bounded off in the direction of the Deathclan camp.

Vex watched as Artemis erupted - she hadn't expected such anger from the royal. It shocked her into silence for a few moments. And with the way Crow was talking back arrogantly she couldn't say she wasn't expecting it when the youngling received a quick, brutal swipe to the jaw. The bobtailed feline flattened her ears at the coppery scent of blood, which would surely waft out of the alley soon. That could bring unwanted attention from other creatures of the night.
It seemed like the older female was done, though, and Vex would've followed if Artemis' tone hadn't been so dismissive. Better not to tag along unless I'm wanted. Besides, Crow was speaking again - somehow the injury hadn't been enough to shut her up - and Vex shot her a scornful glare.
"You have a lot to learn," murmured the grey cat. But Crow was already leaving. Brow furrowing in irritation, Vex seized one last scrap of food before prowling out of the alley and heading off on her own.
With younglings like that around, I don't know what DeathClan's coming to. |
