(Magnoliafrost)
Spiderstar smiled as he looked into his new den. He had always dreamed of being a leader as a kit. The name Spiderstar sounded so cool, so powerful. As an apprentice, and a warrior, that dream had died out a little. But now, well, now he was the Clan's leader after all. The day he had become leader was still a little hazy to him. Not a week earlier he had been made the new deputy, after Whitehawk stepped down. Then, before he even had a chance to get used to his duties, he was a leader. Beechstar had vanished, and then he was named leader. Right before going to get his nine lives, he had named Magnoliafrost his deputy. He hadn't exactly been her closest friend, and she was young, but he knew she was capable of the job.
Now he was finally home, and the den was his to sleep in. But it felt weird, knowing that Beechstar no longer lived within it. This den had always seemed to powerful and scary as a younger tom, and it was the one place he had never dared to sneak into. Now he would live in it for the rest of his life. He was about to go in when he heard paw steps behind him, and turned to see his new deputy standing there. "Oh, hello." He said quietly, both from tiredness and surprise. "Is something wrong?" It wasn't dawn yet, and so far he had been under the assumption that he was the only cat awake.

WORDS: 189 | "Oh, no, I just.. wanted to see if you were settling in well," Magnoliafrost felt immediately embarrassed, but attempted to distract herself from any concerns and smiled softly. "It's quite different, isn't it? It's almost as though we're the mentors of all these cats now. Well, you moreso than I."
Sitting down and turning to gaze upon the rest of camp, the white she-cat's tail twitched with excitement.
"I often remind myself to ignore any harsh words I might hear from the senior warriors. It feels like just yesterday Beechstar had given me a name, and even then I felt like things were happening so fast. I mean, the other day I had slipped over at the stream trying to catch a minnow, and came back to camp looking like a walking snowball! Funny, right?" she snorted. "Of course, I'm willing to address any responsibilities laid onto this new path. I feel confident that I'll be able to serve TreeClan accordingly."
Averting her gaze to glance at her leader, Magnoliafrost felt her fur grow warm.
"Ah, sorry, I'm rambling! How is your morning so far? I mean, before I started chirping like a starling." |
