Thistlefang's eyes lit up as they reached the dark river. It looked so cold and tempting. I don't know how to swim, but it can't be that hard. He looked to her and gasped at her words. "You're right! Ladies first." He narrowed his eyes and bursted into a run, aiming for Fadingnight. He tried to topple her over so they'd both go in together. The tom closed his eyes, preparing for the freezing splash.

Well, she definitely wasn't expecting this. Thistlefang had tackled her and bowled her over, throwing her body into the creek after his. The warrior let out a yowl which was cut off by the water that filled her mouth of which she quickly shut. She had forgotten to close her eyes and when she looked around all she could see was black and small glinting of fish scales. It was terrifying and magnificent all at the same time. Staying down there for awhile she embraced the darkness before she came to again as her lungs began screaming for air and she pushed her way to the surface; sputtering water and gasping for air as she drug her sodden pelt onto the stoney bank.
Automatically she fell on her back and pulled her paws to her face making sure they were still there. "M-mousebrain!" She mewed, her paws shivering in front of her. "I wasn't r-r-ready!" Her voice had a non-serious tone to it, she wasn't mad, just cold.

Thistlefang kept his eyes shut as they plunged underwater. The cold shocked him to the bone, and the warrior quickly swam his way to the top. Gasping for breath, he paddled over to the shore. Swimming wasn't as hard as he'd thought. Pulling himself up onto the rocks, he turned to find Fadingnight doing the same.
The black feline grinned and walked over to the tabby. He sat down next to her and rolled his eyes. "Whatever. You were gonna make me go first, so I just took you with me."

She laid there for a minute, on her back with her head craned backwards uncomfortably, staring at the tom blankly. It was funny to see him so skinny without his plume. "Okay Cloudstick, whatever you say." Sitting up she sat at the edge of the creek and looked down into her own reflection, almost scaring herself... well she did scare herself. Fur plastered to her pelt she drug her paw through the water and scattered her reflection. "I look like a drown rat."
Staring at herself for another minute she went to wading into the water, any fur that was still dry was now plastered again. A fish swam around her forelegs, darting past faster than the birds in the sky. Now the water was more comfortable as her body had become numbed and used to the ice.

Thistlefang giggled. "You look funny." He looked in the water as well, cringing at how sleek he looked. Water droplets flew everywhere as he shook out his pelt. Examining his reflection again, the warrior smiled. His fur was dry and ragged again. "That's much better."
He looked over at his friend with a surprised look. Why was she going back into the water? "Uh, what are you doing?" He padded closer to the bank and peered over at her. There's no way I'm getting wet again!

Standing still she watched the fish intently, they weren't as fast as she expected and she guessed that was because they were just coming out of hibernation. Which made it all the easier to at least attempt to catch one. Thistlefang was lingering on the bank, looking at her like she was mad. "What are you scared of a little water?" She teased, splashing some his way with a forepaw before she went back to gazing at the silver creatures around her.
Tail flicking she braced herself and then batted at one, only to swish them away as she realized how hard it was to move through the water. Well this could take awhile.

Thistlefang flinched as he was flicked with water. Stepping back a few pawsteps, he glared at her. "Rude." Of course I'm not scared of water. But who likes getting wet? He frowned and continued to watch her, noticing her paw movements. What's she doing now?
"What are you trying to do, catch a fish? No one's gonna eat that but you, Prickleface. We're not IceClanners."

She shrugged, still watching the water born creatures. "Never know till you try Cloudstick." At this point she was finding it easier to hook them with her claws and within no time she had gotten the hang of it. Hooking a fish by its top fin she threw it on the bank, quickly running after it and pinning it down. Not exactly knowing how to kill it she bit into the spine and broke it. It was dead.
"And that's the lesson for Iceclan fishing today kits." She laughed picking it up and putting it before the tom. "I dare you." Pointing to the fish with a stray claw. "Take a bite."

Thistlefang cringed as he watched, and nearly gagged as he heard the snap of the spine. He made a face and hesitantly walked forward. "Yuck. Clean your nasty claws." At her dare, he sighed. Well, it can't taste that bad. "Whatever."
Scrunching up his nose, he slowly padded closer and bent down. Ripping off a bit of the fish, he tried not to gag. The tom swallowed it down, shivering as he did so. "Gross. Your turn." His tongue was hanging out of his mouth. "It's so bitter."

Fadingnight smirked at the reaction, of course he didn't like it. His mind wasn't open to the new things as she was. So shrugging she bowed down and gave the silver creature a sniff, it smelled of river water and mud. Wasn't exactly the best combination but that was practically what Iceclan smelled like. So taking a deep breath she sunk her teeth into the white meat and pulled a chunk out, letting it simmer in her mouth before she swallowed it. Her face made no expression, only that she was deep in thought. Then another shrug. "Eh, it ain't as good as vole, but it'll do."

Thistlefang watched her, angry that she wasn't as disgusted as he was. "Are you kidding? That's nasty!" He rolled his eyes and laughed. "...Anyway. Actually, I have something to ask you." He cleared his throat, hoping Fadingnight would be willing to answer.
"Alright, so this cat Brindlepaw was being very annoying. This was... right before I got my name, probably? Anyway, she kept saying she wanted to tell me something but couldn't." He sighed and rolled over, swinging his paws in the air. "She said she couldn't tell me unless she was positive I was gonna say the same thing back." He coughed. "What's that even supposed to mean? She-cats suck."

A sense of deja vu washed over here. The exact same thing had happened to her only days ago. Only, neither of them had picked up on anything and until Sunheart slipped up the two of them had been in complete denial of it. She laughed to herself at the concept and laid herself down on the stoney bank, preparing to speak. Clearing her throat she went on, "Don't be at all worried about that, unless you don't like her back... or love her... whichever one it is." Love was a strong word she didn't use much. Something she only felt once, only hoped to have once.
"Dawe does Cloudstick have a wittle she-cat lover?" Fadingnight teased, smirking the entire time and flicking her tail to and fro.

Thistlefang was taken aback as she began speaking. "Wait, what?" He scrunched up his nose and rolled back on his stomach. He stared at the ground with both a disgusted and confused face. What on earth... Fadingnight must have it all wrong. That can't be what she meant!
As the tabby spoke again, the tom instantly became flustered. He stood up, launching himself towards Fadingnight. "Shut it!"

Well, he seemed angry. Not being able to dodge in time she took the full brunt of the attack and was rolled over onto her back where she laid, the breath knocked out of her. That was unexpected, guess he didn't like being baby talked. So she continued as soon as she had regained her breath. "I bet you would like it if she baby talked you." Fadingnight chuckled almost masculinely. That disgusted her, her voice that was almost too deep to be female. Why was she so awkward?

Thistlefang rolled off of her. He made a grumpy face and slumped on the ground. "I would not!" He retorted, and turned his face so it was just flat against the ground. "I don't know what to say to her now."
