Blackthorn padded into the den, tired after a long day of setting up patrols and training. He yawned and made his way to his nest. Happy to finally be able to settle down.
The deputy lay down and fell asleep.

Hawkbreeze thought it was time to see Blackthorn again. The tabby cat left CloudClan into the real world, finding Blackthorn and entering his dreams. "Hello, Blackthorn." he said with a smile.

Once again Blackthorn woke in a weird world. This was again another dream. "Please don't be a cat that's wants me dead.. Please be-... Hawkbreeze!?" He ran over to the CloudClanner almost as if he were a little kitten again.

Hawkbreeze gave a laugh. "Yes, it's me." The tabby had both his eyes back, and he had the appearance of himself as a warrior. Handsome, if I do say so myself.
"I'm doing fine. It's crazy up there. How are you? Got a special someone yet?" He winked. "You know I want grandkits with a fine mother."

"I.. I can't believe it.. He felt like he could cry. His ears flattened and his paws trembled. He couldn't seem to keep himself composed, which was very unusual for the deputy. He opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out.
He smiled slightly at Hawkbreeze's next words. "Pfft.. You've already got tons, but I guess you never met them did you.. But there was someone. But it didn't end up going anywhere." He had broken up with Foxtail, and he hadn't told Sound yet. Things would just be a mess. He'd tell him sooner or later. It was best not to upset Voleblaze any further. He sympathized the spirit.
"Maybe in the future. Who knows.." He mumbled, keeping the rest of his thoughts to himself. "I named one of my kits after you. His name is Hawkkit.. But he's an apprentice now.. Hawkpaw. He looks almost exactly like you."

Hawkbreeze gave a small laugh. "I still want some." He then nodded. "I know. Voleblaze was talking about it." He then paused, nodding. "I know. I was there when he was born. I almost cried. It's a shame his mother can't be known."

"Haha.. Maybe, maybe." He cocked his head. "Mm.. He came and visited me in a dream.. very angry.." He explained. "Hawkpaw is the closest thing I have to you.. I-I miss you.." He added.
"I swear sometimes, I mistake him for you. Sometimes I wonder if it's possible for two cats to seem so alike. I don't think there's anyone like me."

Hawkbreeze snorted. "Sounds like him." The tabby gave a gentle smile, padding over to touch the tom. But, he couldn't touch him, could he. He merely sighed. "I miss you too."
He flicked his ears. "Well, I know someone who was like you. My brother, Blackflame. He died before you were born. I named you after him. You act and look just like him. Minus the eyes and tail, that is. You're basically his second shot at life, like Hawkpaw is my second shot."

"Black..flame?" He'd heard the name before, maybe. If he did he was probably very little but he'd never met the tomcat. "Well.. I had a full bushy tail. But Nightshade gnawed it off.. You are the only person I have told the true story of how my tail was severed.. The badger attack was a cover-up." He didn't want to play any games with Nightshade.
"How did Blackflame..die?" He'd never heard this either, and he was curious. His head felt like it was spinning. Did he carry two spirits or something? How did this kind of thing work. "I'm.. just trying.. to make sense of this.." He blinked.
"H-Hawkpaw too?" Man was this ever confusing.

Hawkbreeze gave a nod. "He died from a badger attack. Multiple badgers. He couldn't stand a chance." He sighed. "I should've been there with him when it happened. I could've saved him. Then again, you may not have shown up to FireClan for me to take care of."
"Yes. Hawkpaw as well." He paused. "Can you do me a favor, Blackthorn?"

"A badger attack.. How ironic.." That was way too much of a coincidence that had been the same story for his cover-up about his tail, and Mintfrost had died from a badger too. "I guess.. everything happens for a reason, right? I don't understand this, at all, to be honest.. I don't know how to process this.. It's confusing. But if it meant I could have met you, and everyone else in my life. Whether or not they died. He went on.
"I just wish Blackflame's second life hadn't been so rough.." Blackthorn's past and even his present had been a rollercoaster and still things hadn't been all to good. Only small things seemed to bring him joy. Hawkbreeze, his kits, his family. "Of course Hawkbreeze, anything. What do you need?"

Hawkbreeze shrugged. "I think he's enjoyed it. I thought he would be a good leader. You became a deputy. That's a high honor." He grinned, but his grin faded at his question. "I want you to hold a vigil for Blackflame. He never got his vigil. Too much chaos was going on. Please, let him get a vigil he deserves."

"I-I'll do my best to live a good life for him!" He proclaimed. "I promise you.." He mumbled. He flattened his ears in embarrassment from the praise. "Maybe one day Hawkpaw will become a leader or deputy too.." He cocked his head.
"A vigil? He never got one? That's preposterous why would a warrior not get a vigil.. Of course I can give him one! I'll call the Clan for one as soon as I wake up from this dream."
