Oakpaw moved her weight from paw to paw, trying not to squirm too much as her bent legs ached more and more and sneaking glances at the sky and her mentor as she tried not to fidget. She drew some comfort from the fact that Robinfrost had to shift positions too at least once, but after that he froze completely. Resigning herself to a while of discomfort, she tried to copy his stillness until her shallow breathing even seemed too loud and she'd stared at the limp mouse for so long she thought her eyeballs were made of glass.
At last, the great bird seemed to spot their catch. She was just glad it hadn't flown away by then, and tensed up, watching as it soared closer to the earth and consequently to them. It was even larger than she surmised up close, with beady eyes. She met Robinfrost's gaze as the giant talons descended towards it's catch, heard the hiss of breath from Robinfrost, and then she was moving before she could even process it, shoving herself over the bush with half-asleep legs and tackling the bird from the other side, her breath and heartbeat in her ears as she pushed all her weight towards the ground, digging claws into a giant feathery side.

( merry christmas! what did u get? )
Robinfrost felt Oakpaw take of at his side, but he didn't spare a glance over his shoulder as he leapt towards the bird. The hawk let out a strangled cry as his paws touched down on its feathery body, and it flapped its wings ferociously to try and get them off. The cloud of dust that it's wings stirred up caused the deputy to momentarily lose sight of his prey, but he shook it out of his eyes and tore at the hawk's wings.
The animal was strong, but the two of them were even stronger and soon the bird was squirming on the ground with Robin standing firmly on its wings. "Would you like to do the honors?" He suggested, nodding towards the hawk's neck.

(merry christmas! i got a new guitar, which i'm pretty psyched about. you?)
The giant bird lashed out immediately, flapping a huge wing that even lifted her from the ground slightly. With a most un-warriorlike squeak, she pressed her full force into it's wing, her needle-like claws digging through feather and flesh as she fought to keep it pinned to the ground. Thankfully, she and her mentor seemed to be doing pretty well against it until Robinfrost could hold it down easily.
Would you like to do the honors? Slightly surprised, she looked down at the eagle, breathing heavily, and with a nod, snaked forward to nip it hard in the neck. Its sharp beak scraped against her ear as she held on through an interesting-tasting flow of blood until she was sure the beast was dead.
She straightened up, her snout now dripping. She felt sort of feral with all the blood, which was interesting, but she licked the eagle blood off her teeth and tried to wipe her maw, resulting in a crimson-stained paw. "Wow."

( niiice. i got a kiTTEN )
Robinfrost watched as Oakpaw dipped her head and bit into the huge bird's neck, waiting until the body was lifeless before she drew back with a mouthful of blood. He stared down at the body, small pants coming from his mouth. Wow. He looked up, a small hint of a smile crossing his face as he nodded. "Wow," he agreed, bending down to sniff at its feathers. Killing a hawk was no small feat, and Oakpaw had every right to be proud.
"It's too big to carry back on our own. I'll send out a patrol to come retrieve it," he said, stepping off the bird's mangled wing. The carcass could easily last a month, and he knew the Clan would be excited. He motioned for Oakpaw to follow as he set the mouse next to the fallen bird, and began heading down the steep mountain path.
"We're done for the day. You did well," he praised, looking over his shoulder. "I'd suggest getting a decent night's sleep, as we have battle training tomorrow. In the Grassy Clearing."

(WHAT DETAILS OML)
Oakpaw hopped around the hawk, feeling jittery. Her ribcage had that tight excited feeling and she nodded absentmindedly to Robinstar.
"Thanks," she murmured, grinning at him. "All right. I will!"
