It was a funny thing, boredom. Eating away at the she-cat for so long. It was one of the few things she had grown all too accustomed to and had come to expect out of her everyday life. Boredom, laced within the constant web of fear and dread that spouted from every inch of DeathClan. Day in and day out she would sit on her paws, crouched behind the tall patches of grass in the swamp or the dumpsters in the twolegplace, staying out of sight from, well, everyone else. She would wake up, hide, fetch whatever small morsel of prey she could find, hide, wolf it down before anyone saw her, and go to sleep, hidden away from the rest of the world.
At first, boredom suited Saphira. It seemed so natural, so easy, so scripted and routine. It kept her alive, and alive was always preferred to happy. At least, until it had started to crawl up her spine with unease. Her life had grown dull, and every day she questioned why she even bothered to get up in the morning, other than to just survive, and slip back into boring old habits and routines. Sighing, the mottled she-cat yawned and stretched her claws, tucked away in a cluster of bushes at the outskirts of DeathClan. Closing her icy blue eyes, she lay her head in her paws and waited for the sun to bleed out and fade from the sky.
