A Sweet New Kit (O)

Sweetkit stared up at the elder in surprise and intrest. Not exactly answering he denmate's question she looked up at her mentor mewing "I'd like to here one of your brilliant stories...if thats okay with you?"She asked tilting her head. @maplefrost

[Silvercloud]

Silverkit blinked at Sweetkit's roundabout way of answering the question, but chose to stay anyway for the story. Settling down onto the floor of the den, she curled her tail around her paws, content to let Sweetkit take the lead in the conversation.

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN

Great. Not one, but two kits. At least he already knew one of them from before… and they were obviously learning if they'd brought trout before waking him up.

"Good to meet you as well," grunted Maplefrost. "I suppose I have time to tell a story." He had nothing but time, really. There was far too much time on his paws and nothing much to do with it. He was too old to have any real adventures anymore, but not old enough to be joining CloudClan yet. At least he had Windflurry for company. Life wasn't too awful with her around.

He stretched out one paw, reaching around idly for the fish. "What're you looking to hear today? I believe Silverkit's already heard my tale about the waterfall."

"I have." Silverkit mewed, quite surprised that the elder had remembered her brief visit. "I suppose it would be nice to hear another story. I remember you mentioned something about being carried off by a bird?" Silverkit wasn't too sure if Sweetkit would like to hear that story, or if she had any other story in mind. She supposed that in the end, it depended on Maplefrost. Glancing questioningly at Sweetkit, she waited for any objection.

(It's fine! I don't mind at all seeing as I'm quite busy too.)

Sweetkit smiled at the older cat."Any story you feel like sir is good."She mewed turning and smileing at Silverpaw."Enjoy the trout"She said turning back with a smile. (I dont blame you it's the opposite for me XD )

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN

"Ahh, the bird tale. I can do that," he mused while snagging the trout on one claw and dragging it closer. Maplefrost nodded slowly, taking a small contemplative nibble.

A few moments later, he switched into his storytelling voice and shuffled into a more comfortable position. "Yes. This was back during my senior warrior days, if I'm remembering correctly. I had been patrolling by the TreeClan border… when out of nowhere, there was an eagle's screech, and huge talons grabbed me by the shoulders!"

"It didn't quite carry me off, but it was trying, and I couldn't do much more than yowl and thrash. I would've been in big trouble… except someone came to help. Who do you think that was?"

Silverkit flinched slightly as Maplefrost described the eagle. Were they common in IceClan territory? She sure hoped not. Imagine being carried off, far away, never to be seen again! And if the eagle could almost carry off a large cat like Maplefrost, it would surely make short work of any kit.
Shuddering quietly, she returned her attention to Maplefrost's story. Another cat? Well, they had to have been very brave to consider confronting the eagle. Then again, any cat would do that to help a Clanmate. Silverkit recalled what some other kit had told her about the eagle story. It seemed to be a common story told by Maplefrost. Wracking her memory, she came up with a vague name. "Koisplash? I think some other kit told me about her, but she isn't in IceClan, isn't she? I've never seen her at least. Why would she help you if she was from another clan?" Silverkit assumed that Koisplash was from TreeClan. After all, Maplefrost did say he was patrolling along their border. If she wasn't... Well then that would open up a whole other can of worms.

Sweetkit had no idea she flicked her ear."Who saved you?"She asked wodnering if it was a cat from another clan. It was probably crazy she wondered what Sweetkit would have done if that happened ot her.

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN

The calico twitched his ears. He hadn't expected either of the kits to actually guess correctly. How had Silverpaw known about Koisplash?

Well, he could figure that out later. Back to the story. "Actually, yes, it was Koisplash. She's my half-sister in TreeClan. At the time, she was the deputy there, and it just wasn't in her nature to walk away from someone in trouble. So she ran to help and we started fighting the eagle together."

"Even with the two of us, we weren't doing very well. Except Koisplash had a plan. While she distracted the bird, I went and climbed a tree at the edge of the forest. Then, when she lured it past, I got a large branch to snap. And it worked! The eagle was pinned by the branch, making it easy to kill. Once that was over, though, we weren't out of the metaphorical woods yet. I used to have an awful limp back in those days. Now, you can imagine what running around and fighting a huge winged foe might've done to my leg…"

Sweetkit stared in amazement thinking of the big eagle swooping down and trying to swoop him up.She had never known anyone in the clan had a sibling in another clan."Wow, Your so brave!"She said still stunned.

Silverkit dipped her head in agreement with Sweetkit. It did seem amazing that Maplefrost would think of such an amazing way to kill the eagle. It was quite lucky that he hadn't crush Koisplash too though. She shuddered to think of what might have happened had he crushed the other clan's deputy. Bad things, certainly.
Hearing Maplefrost's last sentence, she unwittingly flinched as she thought of it. His leg had to hurt so much? How could he have navigated the icy, steep cliffs of IceClan in such a condition?
"Were you alright? How did you get back?" Silverkit asked in a flurry of worry. She did know logically that he was safe now, but still, it was in her nature to worry.

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN

"Ah, don't worry about it, I was fine in the end," Maplefrost reassured with a light purr. "My sister invited me to stay in TreeClan until I could head home. It turned out that I didn't get along so well with their former medicine cat… then again, Waspwing didn't poison me or anything, so it could've been worse."

"And that's that! Moral of the story? Always keep an eye on the sky when you're outside camp, and don't go alone. It's dangerous out there. I expect your mentors will tell you the same thing when you're older, though."

The elder had never really been a fan of kits, but somehow these two were starting to grow on him. Nevertheless… the queens would box his ears off if the youngsters stuck around for too long. He sighed and took another bite of the fish.

"Perhaps you'd better head back to your mothers? You can stop by another time, but they'll be upset if they can't find you."

"Aww..Ok thank you Maplefrost "She dipped her head with a small smile. She ahd enjoyed the story alot since she didnt usually have anything to do and it had been interesting. She now new stuff about Maplefrost she hadn't known before.She stood up looking down at silverpaw.

[Silvercloud]

Silverkit dipped her head in thanks too. Maplefrost had to be exhausted, taking care of two kits like that. The old elder had sure had an interesting life. A stint in Treeclan? That was amazing! Maybe she could do that too... Just not under the same circumstances, of course.
Standing up, she nodded again and murmured her thanks before leaving the den, hopefully with Sweetkit behind her. It had been a good day, but she looked forward to her warm nest now.

Sweetkit followed Silverkit out of the den witha a stretch of her legs.She yawned wondering if the older kit was tired to.
