I frowned. He was right. "I don't want someone dumb mentoring me.. What if they teach me everything wrong.. or if they are annoying or.." The possibilities were endless. I could end up with someone obnoxious, or stuck up, or dramatic. That terrified me.
"We need to talk to more, quick!"

Wolfing down the last piece of fish that he'd snagged, Adder got to his paws and looked around. "Let's spy on the warriors' den," he suggested in a quieter tone. "Maybe that'll give us an idea of who's gonna teach us!"

I ate the rest of my fish too and looked over at my brother. "Ooh! Yes. Let's do that!" I laughed. I had a mischievous grin on my face. "Let's find some good ones. I don't want some lame-os teaching me. Let's check out the options." I flicked my tail.

With a small lash of his long tail, he slunk over to the den in question. A brief investigation around the back revealed that there was a small hole in the rear wall - just big enough for one cat to peek through. Adderkit motioned his brother over.
"Here; look," he whispered.

I noticed the hole when he called me over. I gasped, grinning like a fool. "Who gets to look first?" I asked. "Well I mean you did find it. Plus I'm scared to get stuck!" I motioned for my brother to make the first move towards the hole.
"Tell me what you see."

The youngster shuffled up to the gap, eyes narrowing as he adjusted to the darkness inside. To his surprise, most of the furry lumps inside weren't even awake! A few were sitting up and grooming, but most were fast asleep in their nests. Adder withdrew his face and turned towards Viper.
"They're still sleeping! What a bunch of lazy cats… I don't know if I want any of them to teach me."
