Spiderleaf waited, her tail twitching anxiously as her two kits scurried about her paws. Well this was awkward. She'd never mentioned to Robbie that the reason she wanted a stay in Iceclan was because she was expecting his kits. She made sure to give birth outside the clan, but it was kind of hard to hide. While Spiderleaf herself was thrilled, she couldn't deny the difficulties that the children were sure to cause. So while her protective instincts warned her to take the kits back to Rockclan and hide, there was another part of her, the part that knew she loved Robbie, that needed to tell him. Robinfrost yawned and stretched as he padded out of the warrior's den, glancing at the prey-pile hungrily. He would have gotten something to eat, except for the fact that he was already late for his meeting with Snap—she said she had something to tell him. He wove his way among various IceClanners, nodding in greeting to a couple. It wasn't hard to find his best friend.
"Snap— Spiderleaf!" He cut himself off, hoping no one had heard. If someone knew that they were close friends, they'd realize something was up. As he walked, the deputy noticed two kittens tussling on the ground at her paws. He halted a fox length away, frowning curiously. "Who have you got here?"

Snapkit had stopped following Spiderleaf when his attention was caught by a rock. More specifically, how pretty a little crack made its surface seen, the shadows of it darkened by the rising sun. Snapkit was like this in a way, his attention could be caught by anything others would look over, as he always managed to see the beauty of life without trying. When Robinfrost appeared though, the brown and white tom snapped to attention.
"Snapkit, sir!" He squeaked obediently, his brown eyes wide as they gazed upon the deputy. He'd been told enough by Spiderleaf to know this was his father. "It's nice to meet you, father, sir."

I bounced around Spiderleaf's paws excitedly. Ever since she'd told Snapkit and I that our father was Robinfrost, I'd begged to meet him in person. My heart pounded against my ribs—partly from excitement, and partly from nervousness. Who wouldn't be nervous meeting the face of IceClan? I mean, he was basically leader—everyone knew that. Wildstar hadn't been seen in moons. Or so I'd heard.
It was taking a while, so I averted my attention elsewhere. I'd hear when he came up anyways. I glanced over at my brother, a frown appearing on my face. "What in Darkpool are you doing?" I asked, my eyes flicking towards the rock. "You're so weird—" I cut myself off as I heard a voice, whirling around to meet the sight of Robinfrost. The deputy, and my father. My amber eyes widened a fraction and I stared.

Spiderleaf smiled when Robinfrost appeared, absently herding the kits closer to her paws. Snapkit seemed to wander away without realizing it every time she turned her gaze, and already Edgekit was difficult to control because of how boisterous he was. She was surprisingly lost for words, and acctually felt a little saved when Snapkit spoke up. She gestured to the little kit, her voice small, "What he said."
Her gaze was troubled, though she wasn't regretting the kits at all. "I didn't tell you the whole truth, I'm sorry. I wanted to come to Iceclan now because I was expecting, and I wanted them to be born with their father. I know how important family is to you." THIS IS THE NEW YEAR

Robinfrost searched Spiderleaf's face for an answer, fictional eyebrows raised as he waited curiously for her to respond. He opened his mouth to ask again—perhaps she hadn't heard—but he cut himself off as one of the kittens spoke in a squeaky, high pitched voice. "Hello," he responded with a curt dip of his head. He returned his gaze to Snap, hoping she'd answer any questions. But what Snapkit said next surprised him.
"...Father?" He asked, a frown on his face. He looked between the two kits—one of which looked shocked to see him up so close, as if Robinfrost was some dinosaur at a zoo—and Snap. "I think you're mistaken… Snapkit, was it?" Snap. Had that been on purpose? His mouth opened slightly, and he chewed on the inside of his cheek. They wouldn't have been named that unless…
Spiderleaf has been looking a little large. He sucked in a wavering breath, clenching his teeth together. "Could I talk to you?" He asked, his voice low. "Without them here?"

"I am not!" Snapkit replied, lifting a paw to flick his brother's ear in protest. "You're the weird one, invoking the Darkpool of all things. Next thing I know you'll be swaggering around saying, 'My pelt is black, like my soul." The last part he intoned ominously in a deep voice, swaggering around in a terrible impression of his brother.
Once again distracted, he almost missed the tension between his parents. If it weren't for his empathetic nature, it may have gone right over his head. "Um, father sir?" He interrupted meekly. "Are you displeased with how small and weak Edgekit is? I promise he'll get bigger." Then he glanced at his brother and smirked. "I think."

"You're right," I grunted in response, bumping my shoulder with his. "You're the weirdest." I corrected, tilting my head to the side slightly. "Just because I said the word Darkpool doesn't mean my soul is black. Ohh, such a bad word! Oh no!" I mocked, making my eyes wide as I stumbled around, mocking my brother. However, when my father approached, I stopped and turned to watch him.
Robinfrost seemed shocked. I wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing, but I knew I'd do my best to please him. Even if he didn't like me. "Yeah. Pops. Dad. Daddy. Whatever you want to call it," I responded, whipping my head towards Snapkit. "I'm not small or weak." I told him, narrowing my eyes challengingly. "I'm probably bigger than you! Mom, who's—" I looked back at the two when the deputy asked to speak in private, and I gave a small chuckle. "What do you think they're gonna go do?" I asked in a hushed voice.

Spiderleaf winced and waved a tail at the two kits to hush them. She felt bad deferring the explanation to the barely one-moon kit, but she'd honestly hoped Robbie would have taken it better than this. Yes she understood his fears, and the complications between their clans, but there wasn't a chance his displeasure would make her regret anything.
With a last glance at Snapkit and Edgekit, she herded Robinfrost a short distance away and narrowed her eyes, automatically turning up her own defenses in preparation for his displeasure. "Alright, let me hear it Robbie. What?" THIS IS THE NEW YEAR

A million thoughts crammed their way into the deputy's head. They were certainly produced from the two warriors—he could see the similarities. And the name Snapkit. She wouldn't have done that if the father were anyone else. But what did that mean? Will the kits stay with me or go back to RockClan? He wanted them to live with him, but he knew it would be better for all of them if they went with Snap.
He he followed his friend away from the kits. "I just… I didn't think this would happen," he responded, glancing at the ground. "I mean, we both know they'll have to go home with you. I'll be a terrible father. I know that for a fact." He blinked down at her. For some reason he knew he wouldn't regret having a family with her.

Snapkit sniffed, though in truth was quite proud of the comment. "Well at least I'm the best at something," he replied with a smile. It didn't really matter to him what that something was. Knowing that he had a skill was heart-warming. "Careful, if the Cloudclan cats hear you they'll suck out your soul as punishment," he warned, then giggled. How backwards that sounded; almost as if they worshiped Darkpool instead.
A little shiver of worry ran through Snapkit when his parents moved away. He could sense the same nerves in his brother, and automatically tried to cheer him up through teasing. "They're probably deciding which one of us to ship off to Rockclan or something, since that's where mother was born." He didn't take his own words seriously, and winked at Edgekit to show that he shouldn't either. "I bet father is just a little shell-shocked. He wont let us become neglected half-clan weaklings driven by angst, it's too cliche."

Edgekit snorted, tossing his head in amusement. "You're hilarious," he told him with a snort. "Oh yeah, definitely. They'll just come down here as ghosts and kill me for saying 'Darkpool'," he said with a small 'pfff' sound. "Darkpool, darkpool, darkpool. Come get me, CloudClan! I'm not afraid of you." He looked up at the sky, as if waiting to see if transparent warriors would fall from the vast blueness. They didn't.
"Oh, I sure hope not. You wouldn't be able to survive alone without me," the tortoiseshell tom giggled, bumping his brother affectionately. "They're probably debating on which one of us has more potential. Me, obviously," he teased, his face growing serious. He nodded, before smirking. "Well I'm not weak, and if you really don't believe me, I'll prove it."
( wow i'm switching perspectives a lot ok )

"Well, neither did I." Spiderleaf replied with a tired shrug. "But when I found out, it seemed pretty obvious they were yours, so I wanted to be here." She paused, and the first signs of doubt crept across her face. "Are you mad?" Not that she could control any of this, but she had been sure Robinfrost would love Snapkit and Edgekit.
She glanced back over to her sons, who seemed to be entertaining themselves well enough. She cheered up just looking at them, and a mischievous light entered her green eyes. "Who says I have to go back?" She purred, turning to Robbie with a smile. "We're a family, so why can't this be our home?" THIS IS THE NEW YEAR

A deep look of worry crossed thee deputy's face. He nodded, watching them. A small amount of fondness crept into his eyes, before turning back to Spiderleaf. "I sure hope not," he responded, raising one fictional eyebrow. He pulled her away, out of ear shot. "Are you mad?" He asked, eyes widening. "I mean, I-I'd absolutely love for you to stay, Snap, but you have a duty? Kits? Right?" He searched her face. "And I… don't want you to get… hurt." He knew he'd be scolded for this. "And them, too."
The deputy looked over at the kits, wrestling. They were so cute. They're mine. I'm a father. He was still trying to process it. He sighed. "I guess… if your set on staying, I'll need to get to know them." He gave her a small smile, glancing over at them. "But…" he trailed do off, an unreadable expression clouding his gaze. "What if they… what if something happens?"

Snapkit groaned and took a step back, as if waiting for lightning to come down and strike his brother. "Great, now we're going to start a war with dead cats," he muttered. Of course he included the 'we'. Edgekit may have been an idiot, but he was still his brother, and brothers stood together.
"I'd survive much better than you! You'd be crying 'mummy, mummy' by the end of the first day," the patched tom countered. He purred and swayed against Edgekit, using the movement to push his brother in return. Despite his teasing, Snapkit was really the small one, though that was because he was a slow grower, not because he was destined to be short. "How about I prove it first?!" He mocked growled, leaping at Edgekit playfully.
