It wasn't that Petalfur didn't enjoy visiting the elders, but rather the fact that she felt inclined to. Especially during her couple of moons of kitting, the Warrior noticed just how lazy the apprentices were. Only once did Petal see one scurry in with a vole clamped in they're jaws, but likely just for a story, by the looks of it. That morning, Petalfur had decided to treat her only well-acquainted with elder, @maplefrost to the best of her abilities. So she set for the elders den with fierce determination: The she-cat hobbled in with a warm squirrel balance one paw; Between her jaws was a stick with a large wad of mouse bile. "Maplefrost?" Petalfur called out, unable to see with her eyes narrowed to keep the sting of the bile out. "You'd better be here!"

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN "Where else would I be," snapped a familiar voice in response. Sitting in the corner of the den was Maplefrost, looking slightly more irritated than usual. He'd just spent half the morning trying to reach a tick that had burrowed in between his shoulder blades. Of course, the blind elder was incapable of killing it on his own… and with Windflurry out on a stroll or something, he was left to stew in his own frustration.
Maplefrost turned in the general direction of Petalful and let his tail twitch impatiently. "Out with it, what're you here for?" WORDS: 097 || WRITTEN FOR: Petalfur NOTES - n/a template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Petalfur couldn't hide her amusement at the old tom's grumpiness, which seemed a touch more sour than usual in her opinion, though it could just be her. "The pleasure of your company," Petal teased around the bile. "Oh, and your ticks, and to satisfy your hunger." The she-cat carefully rested the warm meal at Maplefrost's paws and set the stick of bile on a rock so it wouldn't get all over the nests. "What would his master like completed first?" Petalfur asked, resting her tail over her paws as she took a seat, patiently awaiting commands. Template by Meg❤

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN A low growl rumbled out of the elder's throat. Was this insolent youngster laughing at him? He 'accidentally' took a shot at whacking Petalfur with his plume of a tail. There were many ways to successfully handle an annoyed Maplefrost, and this was not one of them.
"I can do it on my own," he stated defiantly. Which was an absolute lie, of course, but he would not allow his pride to be trampled. The calico wasn't particularly hungry. He did need to get rid of this parasite before it drove him absolutely mad. Temporarily ignoring the warrior, he twisted around and started trying to nip at the tick once again. Petalfur resisted rolling her eyes, and though she was slightly humored by Maplefrost's blunt rejection, she did feel a twinge of pity towards the old tom. "Okay, your right," she lied, trying to coax Maplefrost out of his defiant state. "But can you at least give me a reason to get away from my kits? I love them, but they're a handful, and I need half a day to relax." Watching Maplefrost struggle to get rid himself of the nuisance on his back was an interesting sight, but Petalfur couldn't bare to watch it. She tossed the prey back in front of the tom, clenched the bile-stick between her teeth, and approached him again. "Where is it?"

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN "What, are they not apprentices by now? Get the other queens to watch them; go take a walk in the territory or something," snapped Maplefrost. If Petalfur had any sense, she'd take the hint and try again another time… or at the very least, this overbearing warrior could stop trying to treat him like one of her precious kits! That didn't seem to be happening, though. Unfortunately.
"I've got it," repeated the calico stubbornly with a hint of a snarl. He really didn't, but he'd rather ask Windflurry to kill the tick later than give in to Petalfur now. Petalfur sighed. She kind of felt baffled by the fact that anyone wouldn't accept assistance. Petal knew such actions existed, but she'd never had to deal with someone that wouldn't let her help them when they obviously needed it. "Very well," Petalfur responded sullenly. Saying nothing else, she set the bile away carefully, then took a crouch position to wait patiently. She was determined to fulfill the apprentice duties that were being so neglected, but it seemed she needed a different approach.
She's just referring to the fact that they're clingy, since she's always being roleplayed with them. Tharks for the warning anyway, however. Template by Meg

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN He could practically feel frustration boiling under his pelt when Petalfur stayed in the den, settled down nearby, and waited. Was this really what his life was coming to? All those seasons of work, and now he was right back where he started. Maybe he'd died and been reborn as a kitten when he hadn't been looking. It sure felt like he was one in the eyes of the Clan, the only difference being that they asked him for stories rather than the opposite.
It wouldn't be as bad if he wasn't stuck with this ancient body. Oh, what he'd give to actually be young again. Maplefrost missed being able to see and run around with wild abandon. Alas, that wasn't going to happen. Not unless he joined CloudClan. Perhaps that wouldn't be too awful - he'd be reunited with all his old friends and family, after all. But he could never leave Windflurry.
He gave a defeated sigh. "Just kill the CloudClan-forsaken tick and leave me alone." WORDS: 167 || WRITTEN FOR: Petalfur NOTES - n/a template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Petalfur gave a brief nod of acknowledgment, holding her tongue for fear of saying something that would further upset Maplefrost. Retrieving the bile once more, she approached the old tom at a slow pace, well aware that leaping to action would make it seem as though she had won the argument - which she had, she thought - since Petal wanted Maplefrost to feel like it was completely his idea. She later reflected on this and realized it was probably stupid; the tom was far more wise than she, and likely could pick out her trick blind and deaf in his sleep. Taking a seat behind Maplefrost, Petalfur sat quietly for a few moments, attempting to search the area he had been attacking earlier. There were few ways to ask a grumpy Maplefrost any questions, she was aware, and her contemplation ended at numerous dead-ends. This tick is amazing, Petal thought frustrated, still trying desperately to find the darned thing. "So, how do you feel about the other elders?" Petal asked for the sake of conversation. She genuinely didn't know, since she never visited before becoming a warrior.

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN The old cat's shoulders were tense as Petalfur set to work. That tick was really buried under all his fur; apparently it wanted to make the task of killing it as difficult as possible. Maplefrost frowned to himself. Nowadays, parasites were honestly his biggest enemies… not his father, or Darkstar, or Emberstorm, or even Hawkbreeze. There had been others too. Time might have taken away all of the tom's friends and family, but it seemed to play no favorites, for most of his old foes were now also gone.
His ears swiveled backwards once the she-cat spoke. Was she joking? Maplefrost continued to scowl and responded rather dryly.
"Elders? My mate is the only other one who lives here. Unless you count Redstorm, but he's mostly invisible these days, and he doesn't talk much. Death will do that to a cat." WORDS: 141 || WRITTEN FOR: Petalfur NOTES - n/a template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Petalfur nodded thoughtfully. She hadn't truly been aware of how few elders there were in Iceclan. The Bengal had mostly assumed they were all just, well, away? Perhaps that's why the apprentices are lacking discipline when it comes to care for their elders? Petal thought earnestly. The young she-cat didn't recall hearing about a death that might have truly and directly affected this other cat Redstorm, but Petal wasn't the best at staying up-to-date about events anyways. She assumed it was a death in the family, and despite her curiosity, knew it wasn't her place to pry. "I'm sorry," she said, narrowing her eyes as the tick squirmed out of her perfect trap. "Poor word choice on my own behalf."

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN Lack of discipline, indeed! This den was practically in tatters - only CloudClan knew how long it had been since it was last patched up. It was only really a problem during bad weather, and Maplefrost's joints were constantly aching because of that. Perhaps things would change under the rule of this new leader.
The calico simply huffed in acknowledgement of Petalfur's words. "Haven't you found that tick yet?" he meowed rather impatiently. WORDS: 072 || WRITTEN FOR: Petalfur NOTES - n/a template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Deeply focused, Petalfur parted Maplefrost's fur with one paw , finally cornering the tick. Dabbing the vile creature with the bile, the warrior watched it die, then promptly pulled it away with a sharp claw. "Yes," Petalfur responded, smoothing Maplefrost's fur down then turning away respectfully to her own space. "Oh, it's a shame you're kicking me out," The smiling she-cat said in mock solemnity. "This den really needs some work. Do you want me to come by before we get too deep into Leaf-Bare or am I too annoying for such accompaniment?" Petalfur's gaze wandered around the run-down den, then returned to the elder, awaiting his response.

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN That tick had really buried its fangs deep, and despite the mouse bile, Maplefrost still winced slightly when it was pulled free. He turned back towards Petalfur - obviously he didn't need to see her, given his lack of vision, but he liked to talk in the general direction of his visitors.
"As long as you're quiet, I don't care. Do whatever you want." With that, the elder curled back up in his nest and covered most of his face with his dense-furred tail. WORDS: 083 || WRITTEN FOR: Petalfur NOTES - n/a template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Petalfur would have gladly begun fixing up the den if it weren't for the fact that doing so would be impossible to do without disturbing the elder. "Come on, Maplefrost, that's hardly reasonable!" Petal complained humorlessly. "I can't be completely quiet. How about I do my best? Is that okay?" She smiled again, standing for the billionth time in preparation for the possible haul that she would have to endure.
