It was a new day. The sun was shining, the air was cold, and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. It was the perfect time to explore the camp. The little kit had never explored around camp all too much, just in the immediate area around the nursery, never any further. So of course today was the day.

Knotkit had untangled his fur specifically for this day. He shook it and relished in his brown fur flopping freely instead of being hindered by all the knots that usually clustered his fur. His fur was clean and he was ready to go. So he set off out of the nursery and into the day. He wondered what he would do, aside from explore.

He had been wandering, wide-eyed, for about five minutes before he found a very large rock. Knotkit decided instantly that it need to be climbed and conquered. There was no way he could just let it go unclimbed, so he crouched down low. With a few quick snaps of his tail he leapt. There were a couple wonderful seconds where he knew he was going to make it, but then he quickly changed his mind as he hit the rock and tumbled all the way down. So much for having nice fur.

Sunkit saw Knotkit try to climb the rocked and walked up to him. "Hi Knotkit! How are you doing today?"

Knotkit looked up at the rock and narrowed his eyes. He bet that it was one of the best spots to look the camp, but it seemed to be very tall, and sadly, he was very small. He was also determined though, and now that he had started he wasn't going to stop.

Knotkit was just about to try jumping again when he heard a voice. He turned to see a familiar cat. Sunkit stood before him, watching his adventure. "Hi Sunkit, I'm doing good. It's my first day exploring the camp, but I'm having troubles climbing this rock." He meowed in explanation. He stood in front of the other young cat and smiled at her.

[Sunpaw]

"Why don't you try getting up there by using the other rocks? They could be steps!" Sunkit meowed to Knotkit trying to solve his problem. "They are a lot lower so they are easily accessible."

As Knotkit listened to Sunkit's solution to his problem his eyes wandered to some of the other rocks nearby. He admitted it would be easier, but easier wasn't the point. The point was climbing, and he wanted to be good at it. So when Sunkit stopped talking Knotkit nodded. "That makes sense." He stated, "But that doesn't mean I'm going to do it." He added on afterwards.

With a smirk directed at Sunkit Knotkit sprung upwards again. This time he found a purchase in the rock and was able to pull himself onto a ledge about halfway up the rock. He could already see so much more than normal. He could see the tops of trees over the roofs of the dens. He still wasn't hight enough though. He wanted to see all the way over to the other clans. Maybe he could spy on them. That would be cool. Knotkit got ready to jump again.

[Sunpaw]

"You're just trying to show off!" Sunkit replied to Knotkit, mildly angry. "I'm going to laugh when you fall." Sunkit started up the rock steps. They were a bit of a challenge, but were a good way to start jumping, considering Sunkit had never climbed rocks before. She was about halfway up the steps when she saw Knotkit hanging off the rock, preparing to jump again.

Knotkit looked around before he jumped again and saw that Sunkit was taking the rock steps. He smiled and called over to her, "Of course I'm trying to show off, but when I get there it'll be that much cooler!" He may have been taunting her a bit, but he couldn't help it. With a small wiggle of his butt Knotkit launched off of his little ledge and up towards where the rock was almost flat at the top. His front paws hit the spot he wanted perfectly, but his back paws missed and thus were left on uneven ground.

He scrambled for a second, worried that he was going to fall and make a fool out of himself. His back paws searched frantically for something to catch on. There was a sharp pain but then he managed to jump further onto the safety of the rock. Knotkit looked down at his paw only to find that the rock had cut him and he now had a small wound. Of course it wasn't big enough to kill him, or even hurt too much, but to a young kit it was awful. Knotkit pushed through what he thought was the worst pain imaginable and tried to show Sunkit that he had hurt himself.

Sunkit glanced back at Knotkit when meowed. He was almost there! Sunkit jumped up the steps even faster. She not want to be beaten by Knotkit, otherwise he would brag about it all day long. She was almost there, 3 steps away, 2 steps away, but then Knotkit landed on the rock. "Ugh! You had a head start!" Sunkit meowed, not noticing Knotkit's injury.

When Sunkit made it onto the rock she hadn't seemed to notice his injury, which was just what Knotkit wanted. He imagined if he showed her that he had hurt himself she might taunt him and say that it was his fault for taking the hard way, and it was his fault, but he wasn't going to admit that. He puffed up his chest to make himself look cooler. "I took the harder way so the head start doesn't count." He stated. His voice squeaked on the word start as he shifted his weight. He flicked his tail over all of his paws, trying to make the movement look casual, but really just covering up his injury.

Sunkit had to admit, Knotkit did take the hard way, and she had to give it to him. She hadn't thought he would of made it up the rock that fast. "Fine, you win." Sunkit meowed with defiance. Then she looked around from the top of the rock. "Wow, you can see everything from here."

Knotkit was pretty happy with his ability to stay calm while he thought he was probably bleeding out. Of course his cut had already began to close and it probably didn't even matter. Then Sunkit mentioned the view and Knotkit remembered the reason why he wanted to get on top of the rock. He looked up and instantly was smiling. The view was wonderful. He could see everything in camp, and even things beyond the camp. He forgot about his small cut and then stood up to get a better look at the view. "Wow." He breathed out.

[Sunpaw]

As Sunkit took in the view, she quickly realized that anyone could also see us from up here. They could get in trouble fast. "Knotkit, we might want to get down before we get in trouble."

Knotkit was still looking at the view when Sunkit said something about getting down from the rock. He was so focussed on all the things that he could see he didn't really think about how they might get in trouble. He waved his tail in a dismissive fashion. "Come on Sunkit, look at this view. Just a few more moments wouldn't hurt." He stated. Of course he had already gotten hurt, and if either of them placed a paw wrong they could tumble off of the rock and that would also hurt. A few more moments could hurt.

[Sunpaw]

"Alright, fine. But if we get caught, it's your fault." Sunkit meowed, slightly annoyed. The last thing she wanted to do is to get caught by her mother. That would be bad.

Knotkit could hear the annoyance in Sunkit's voice. He turned to look at her and sighed. With one last look at the view he padded over to where she was. He flicked her ear with his tail before he jumped over to the rock steps. He hissed quietly when he landed on the rock. His paw ached, but he ignored it and jumped again. "Don't get left behind!" He called back to his friend as he kept jumping down the rocks.
