As she leaned in on the tom's explanation, she found his ambition commendable, wanting to serve the clan he loved most in the highest manner seemed reasonable enough...
... But taking all the other territory?? "Aren't... we supposed to be nice to the other clans? Why do you wanna battle them?" She asked, tilting her head slightly. "Wouldn't the other clans go hungry in leaf-bare if we took everything? That'd be mean!"
She hadn't known as much of the other clans as she suspected sedgekit had, but she had always thought the clans were supposed to share, weren't they? Her fur fluffed out as she thought of all the trouble of pushing them out would cause.
"If I were leader, I'd be nice to the other clans, we would share fresh-kill and and play games with each other, it would be fun!" She declared, wrapping her stubby tail around herself as she sat.

"Be nice? To the other clans?" Sedgekit was absolutely aghast - his tail quivered and he gave her a look of shock and horror. She was even more of a traitor than he thought in the first place! "Listen, Hazelkit! If we don't defend ourselves, and we don't battle other cats, that means they will attack us! We have to be the first, the biggest, the baddest cats in all the clans! That way they won't take advantage of us!"
At her declaration of sharing fresh-kill and playing games and having fun, Sedgekit nearly passed out with shock. Well, not really - it sure felt that way though. "YOU CAN'T JUST SHARE FRESH-KILL WITH THE OTHER CLANS!" he yowled. "There's not enough to go around! And yeah, you can play games at the gatherings, but if Cloverstar tells us to fight other cats then we have to. It's the warrior code." With a stern nod, he fixed her with a glare, daring her to say something against the warrior code.

"Well isn't it against the warrior code to steal from others clans?!" Hazelkit hissed, taken aback by the toms confrontation.
Such a stubborn tom! How could an idea like that seem even remotely good? It felt like common sense to the she-cat. It made more sense! How could you be so ready to fight another cat? If we all just got along, things could be so much easier.
She lashed her tail at Sedgekit. Standing up, Hazelkit turned away from the tom, and started back towards the nursery entrance. "I bet if Cloverstar heard you right now, you'd be exiled in an instant!"

"There's nothing in the warrior code about stealing, stupid!" The dark tom spat back, his tail tip twitching angrily as he took a step towards her. "Cats steal from each other all the time! That's why we have fights and wars, so we can take territory and be the best clan we can be. We can't just all sit around and live in our territory all the time - haven't you thought of how nice it would be if we didn't have to scour the entire territory for a mousetail to eat in the dead of leaf-bare? You're as soft-hearted as a kittypet!"
When she got up to walk away, he barred her path with his body, fixing her with a challenging glare. If Cloverstar heard him right now? He doubted the noble leader would do anything of the sort! What, did Hazelkit think that Cloverstar would love to hear about how she wanted to share prey with all the other clans? Raising his tail, he let out a self-important sniff.
"You're just saying that!" He accused, jabbing a paw in her direction. "You're just saying that because I said the same thing! You're not creative and you're disloyal; Cloverstar would be more mad at you than me! More mad by a hundred rabbit hops!"

"Like i'd hear a lecture from some tom who couldn't dodge a mossball," Hazelkit scoffed. "And I'm not disloyal, I just have the common sense to know that fighting every other cat in the forest isn't gonna do us any good, mousebrain!"
The fur on Hazelkit's spine stood up as she swiped at sedgekit's paw, claws sheathed this time.
The nerve of this cat! She had begun to suspect that the other kit didn't know a single thing about the warrior code. Granted she hadn't memorized them by heart quite yet, she could have swore the code wasn't nearly as ruthless as sedgekit took it to be.
Hazelkit puffed out her chest as she lashed her tail, staring down the opposing kit. "What would you know about leaf-bare anyways? And What makes you so sure taking all their territory would even work? Three clans against one? Keep dreaming!"
