After finally a long two days of digging out every last leaf and berry from the herb storage and checking every corner of every plant, Anemonemist had finished. Every herb in the medicine den was either thrown out for being too dead or saved for being just right. It felt good knowing she had completed one of her small goals as RockClan's new medicine cat, but also that her entire mission was one step closer. Now that all the old herbs had been swept up and organized into piles, and the medicine den itself had been given a through sweeping, she could place every herb back in the storage in a neat and organized way. Everything would be set up by name, she had decided. From 'a' to 'z', every herb was to be returned to the storage. And it would stay neat and organized as long as Anemonemist was RockClan's medicine cat.
Then after that was done, she would go check on the herb patches once more and see what should be left to regrow and what could be taken. Maybe she would bring an apprentice or a warrior, maybe even two, to assist in that job. For with the upcoming terror of snow, each and every plant would most likely die and then regrow... so it was important for RockClan's future that the available leaves and berries were plucked and stored away, leaving the rest to grow properly.
Only now, she was taking a much needed break outside the medicine den. Dusty eyes scanning the fresh-kill pile, she wished some RockClanner would see her need for food and deliver a mouse or sparrow to her paws. With so much work already done, didn't she deserve someone to be her little minion for a few hours?

Raggedwolf had taken a very large interest in Rockclan's new medicine cats. The previous two, one of which had been his brother, had disappeared after failing at their jobs. Normally he would never dare hold a grudge or be so judgemental, but their absence had taken a toll on the clan. Himself included. When a bad wound had gone untreated, he had very nearly almost died. That was why, he had decided to meet these new medicine cats and weigh them for himself. But nobody could be worse than his brother, surely?
With a mouse as a peace offering, the ragged-furred tom padded his way to the medicine cat den, stopping in surprise when a she-cat made her way out. He supposed this was one of the new medicine cats, and made a beeline for her. With a respectful nod, he dropped the mouse. "Hello there," he began carefully, sizing her up. "Are you the new medicine cat?" ISHY of THQ & ADOXOGRAPHY

Ah, CloudClan was on her side today. Peering up at the unfamiliar RockClan warrior as he met her silent wishes, she couldn't help but smile. Either he was a mind reader or just simply lucky enough to guess what she had wanted, this tomcat had found himself a small spot in her list of 'okay, this one isn't that bad'. How long he would stay, however, depending on his next words.
"Yes," she replied to the question. Of course she was the new medicine cat. Couldn't he tell by the thick scent of marigold and lavender on her fur? Splitting piles of herb after herb for the past few hours had certainly did a number on her scent, and Anemonemist assumed that this scent would stay. Which, wasn't quite a bad thing for her. For she loved the smell of a fresh patch of catmint, or even some goldenrod. Mouse-bile, however, could remain locked up in the far reaches of the medicine den for as long as she wished. "I'm Anemonemist. You?" Dipping down, she snatched a small bite of the mouse and savored the taste. After such a long day, it was certainly appreciated. And she made sure to voice that. "Thank you. I needed a bite to eat on my break."

Raggedwolf let out an entertained purr, and simply shrugged at the she-cat's confirmation. It had been fairly obvious that he was standing before one of the new medicine cats, but it wasn't in his nature to presume anything either. When the she-cat introduced herself, the warrior couldn't help letting out a small chuckle. "Anemonemist, that's a bit of a mouthful" He teased, then flicked his ears back bashfully. "Though I suppose Raggedwolf is the same. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, I swear. It's a lovely name." Sooo....He'd managed to ruin that friendship before it started.
With a resigned sigh the young warrior sat back on his haunches. "It was a peace offering, and I think right now is a lovely time to offer peace, considering I've known you for about two minutes and have already managed to insult your name. Accidentally. And I didn't mean it, again." ISHY of THQ & ADOXOGRAPHY

Anemonemist's eyes narrowed as the RockClanner insulted her name. She, the medicine cat who would one day be in charge of keeping him alive, had been insulted by her own Clanmate. And she had barely even gotten to know him. Her name was something she had combined herself with that of what she was originally called, Anemone, and 'mist' for the way her eyes misted over like she were blind--except with the obvious perkiness that explained she could see just fine. Her name held meaning to her, and she found it a beautiful one indeed. Despite it being a mouthful, as he had boldly teased, it was something she fairly liked.
"... I assume you don't have many friends if your first meeting involves insulting the cat." Anemonemist growled with an annoyed twitch of an ear. He had moved down the list quite a bit, though not enough to label him as someone who infuriated her. Just simply an annoyance, if not rude. Though he at least held enough decency to attempt a nervous response. Anemonemist assumed Raggedwolf saw no benefit in making the medicine cat hold a grudge on him.
With a light lash of her tail, she chose to forget about his teasing. "Forget about it. Your the first RockClanner I've spoken to in an actual conversation since I joined, and I would not like to make you an enemy." she said with a rigid nod. And then a flash of amusement crossed her dusty blue eyes. "Though you could be labeled an annoyance for all I care. Well, never mind. A peace offering it is, and I suppose it's accepted."

Ahhh, he really did need to work on keeping his mouth shut. The tendency he had for blurting the first thing that came to mind wasn't a best one, and he wasn't naive enough to believe others would simply laugh and brush it off. In fact, he was quite sure that he could stand to take a lot of things more seriously.
"The opposite actually," he admitted with a bashful laugh, though he cut it off shortly. Right, friends. They weren't things he enjoyed talking about. It made his heart hurt. He was loyal, right? He liked to think so. And yet he couldn't explain why the majority of his friends were in different clans, and again, why he visited them whenever he was able. That surely wasn't loyal, and it was something he struggled with daily. "Ah forget that, no friends. Forever alone, just me and my miserable personality." Miserable personality indeed. "If you slip me some poison for dinner, I'd understand," he finally murmured with a weak smile.
Thankfully Anemonemist was a more forgiving sort than he, and soon Raggedwolf was perking back up. Right, so very little often hindered him. It meant when something truly did, it was scarily important. "I am? Then my apologies, I'm sure I've made this a thoroughly miserable experience," he apologized again with a short dip of his head. "You know I didn't realize you were joining from outside Rockclan. Though I suppose I should have, seeing as this is the first I've heard of you. How are you settling in?" ISHY of THQ & ADOXOGRAPHY

Anemonemist remained as still as a stone as Raggedwolf, at first, stated he did have friends... only to contradict his own words and go on to claim his personality a miserable one. What a strange cat he was. He must truly have little friendship if he had such low self-confidence, and even mentioned an understanding for poison. What a sickening thing to offer someone. "You should have more confidence, Raggedwolf. For RockClan is quite a small Clan in itself. Also... I didn't mean to insult you so low." Anemonemist meowed with a slow dip of her head. Truly, she had meant to insult him. But not to completely undermine his social status.
"Oh, I've gone through many miserable experiences in my life. Don't consider yourself so unlucky just yet, I've barely gotten to understand your character. And give you a real chance." the white and silver-speckled she-cat said to him. She smiled softly as he mentioned her being a former rouge. "Quite so. But the life of the rouge isn't what I enjoy. Clan life is much more fulfilling. And I am settling in fine, besides the fact that the medicine den was as mess. Dust everywhere, the herbs rotting away. It was disgusting, but I'm glad I have it all cleaned now."

Usually Raggedwolf was a natural at conversation. He wasn't entirely sure what was happening to him, but he chose to blame it on the fact that he'd approached Anemonemist with his guard up. That wasn't how he normally acted. Hold nothing back, and don't do anything you don't fully support. He had thrown himself into a negativity he didn't full understand, and certainly didn't enjoy.
"Ahh, please don't apologize," he finally managed ruefully. "I was the wrong one here, and an apology out of pity doesn't really count. I'm fine now, I promise." That was what he got when he allowed old ghosts to haunt him during a perfectly normal conversation. "Give me a real chance? Are you sure you want that, I'm weird." He grinned crookedly, hopefully letting the medicine cat know that he was only joking this time.
He pulled a face at the she-cat's news, absently nodding. "That's to be expected, considering who the former medicine cats were," he murmured, almost to himself. Then he snapped his gaze back to Anemonemist. "I'm sure you have your work cut out for you, there are some who aren't looking too favorably on medicine cats at the moment. Until a few minutes ago, I was one of them."

Anemonemist gave him an odd look. "I was not apologizing. You were in the wrong." she said stiffly, her chin raising up almost in defiance. "I was simply stating I had gone too far. But I was not apologizing." Yes, she should have outright said she were sorry. But she hadn't. Perhaps her gestures had given him that idea? Certainly she felt a little bad for her words, but she had no inclination to take them back, for he had indeed insulted Anemonemist's very name.
As he went on and admitted he was weird, the RockClan medicine cat's eyes widened slightly. Weird as in personality, which was said to be 'miserable' by himself and 'rude' by herself? Weird as in...? She was taking that thought too seriously. Raggedwolf was kidding. With a light roll of her eyes, Anemonemist addressed the joke with a soft smile, supposing that this would help the awkward situation on their paws. "Well, Raggedwolf the weird, as long as it's not contagious I see no harm in talking to you. Unless it is able to latch onto me. Then I will kindly ask you to step back a few paces." she teased with amusement once again returning to her dusty blue eyes.
Though, Raggedwolf looked distant at the mention of the former medicine cats, and Anemonemist truly wondered how deeply the absence of RockClan's healers were to the Clan. From a glance, it just appeared a few cuts and scrapes were barely taken care of properly. But mentally... had the fear of knowing that, in a life or death situation, there may be no one to save your life really dug into the hearts of the RockClan cats? "I've heard a great deal about the former medicine cats." she said slowly at first, and then picked up speed once something dawned on her. Her dusty blue eyes instantly snapped back to Raggedwolf. "Are there any wounds that could still need checking from your Clanmates? I know most have simply scarred over, but perhaps... no, I'm sure nearly all wounds of scarred over, and sickness been overcome. I'm working myself into a panic again... sorry." She instantly diverted her gaze. She was certain any scratches or bites needing attention then would have already healed up, and if there were any sick cats, they would have already gone to request a check-up.
"... So I truly have to earn RockClan's trust." muttered the speckled medicine cat with an annoyed lash of her tail. "But, at least you changed your mind. I suppose that means I'm likable?" Though she didn't understand what was to like about her.

And once again he was thrown through a loop. This time though it was entirely his fault, he shouldn't have presumed as much. "I.....Yes." He managed with a shrug, preferring to just put the entire thing behind him now. Though one thing he could say; Anemone's pride was an impressive thing. Though she had earned it, living as a rogue or a loner was certainly not easy. And being a medicine cat wasn't anything to sniff at either.
Waving his tail, Raggedwolf let out a cheerful laugh. "Oh no, perfectly contained, I assure you." If this joking was Anemonemist's way of offering peace, he was going to seize it with all four of his paws and not let go for anything. Unless he was tickled.
The tabby turned a little somber at the she-cat's questions. It was admirable how she jumped to attention straight away, and the incredible change from the haughty pride almost made it adorable. Still, the blatant show of care for a clan she had just joined was enough to convince him; this was a medicine cat he could put his trust him. "To the best of my knowledge, we're all fine," he murmured, hopefully soothingly. "Rockclan is so quiet that we weren't in any real danger." Then he winced a little and shifted his seating position. "Ah, most of us anyway." Yes, he was allowed to be bitter; but not to her. The warrior flashed her a warm smile. "Well you've got mine. I'd say you're more than likable...perhaps a miracle worker?" Anemonemist was glad Raggedwolf didn't see any benefit to fighting her about it, and it was a wise move to simply drop the whole subject. She didn't want to continue talking about such strange things, either.
Continuing on with the playfulness, the RockClan medicine cat couldn't help but laugh lightly at his response. "I would hope so. Otherwise I may have to accept your earlier offer about poisoning your food." Oh. Did she go to far again? She hoped not, for she had no intention of doing such a bizarre and sick thing. Though she didn't know how to display that, besides offering an amused smile.
Anemonemist listened to Raggedwolf's explanation about RockClan with perked ears, and yet one comment made her twitch. "Ah, most of us anyway." She was confused. "I'm glad RockClan is well, but your last comment is odd. Most of you?" she repeated with a questioning look.
"More than likable? Hmm, I suppose that's a good thing. And call me whatever you will. Just so long as it isn't anything bad, then you'll be safe to say it."

He joined Anemone's laughter, partly out of relief. It was a relief to hear, what he hoped was, the medicine cat relaxing in his presence. "Hey, if it's a tasty last meal I can't really complain," he replied with an amiable shrug.
Tipping his head, Raggedwolf flattened his ears bashfully. "During my final assessment I was bitten by a snake, though my mentor insisted I complete the tasks anyway." Not that he really minded the brutal training methods. "After that, there were no medicine cats around to help me out, so for a while I just decided to bear with it. Unfortunately, after about a week I was so close to death and had to be taken to Iceclan for emergency treatment. I still don't remember that time so well, and the leg the snake bit has been stiff and hard to deal with ever since." Not that he was looking for sympathy or pity; he'd been worried about the half-paralyzed limb for a while, but eventually he'd learned how to work around it, and was still a valuable warrior. There was no sense dwelling on his short-comings now.
Tipping his head shyly, Raggedwolf seemed to mull over the question. "Alright, then how about I call you a friend?"

"Good. And the death berries will add plenty more taste to enjoy in your last moments." Anemonemist was not a laughing-type of cat. Sure, she could chuckle under her breath, or maybe a bit louder than that. But nothing constant or booming. Just a quite amusement was more her style, so when Raggedwolf was caught in his laughter, all Anemonemist did was purr and grin.
Though, when Raggedwolf talked about his experience, the speckled she-cat had gone dead silent. Slowly, a frown began to etch it's way across her features as Raggedwolf kept talking, until she was completely enraged that the RockClan medicine cats had allowed such a thing to happen to their own Clanmate. "I can't... that's sick." Anemonemist growled, glaring down at the mouse between her paws. "No cat should have to suffer through such an experience... not ever. And I won't allow it to happen as long as I'm still around." She said that last sentence with such force and determination, that it lodged it's way into her mind. Yes, that was the challenge she set up. As RockClan's medicine cat, wounds were rare. But any that did come were not to be left untreated. That was for sure.
And then her Clanmate suggested calling her a friend. Anemonemist's anger faded away as she lifted her dusty eyes onto his, confused. "Eh?" she muttered, and then realization dawned on her. "Er, uh, yes... I suppose friends would do... er... yes, friends it is." Wow. Her first actual friend. What an achievement.

Raggedwolf chuckled, content to nod in agreement and go along with the joke. "Well you know, if I'm going out, I want to go out dramatically." Death berries would surely suit that purpose well enough, but at the same time, going out in service to his clan sounded like the better option.
He had to admit, the sudden change in Anemonemist's demeanor shocked him, perhaps even scared him in a way. He wondered what she would like like with that expression tearing into battle, rather than patching up wounds. He was very glad the expression hadn't been turned upon him. Though it was a little embarrassing to be in the centre of her ire, or the cause of it. "That's very admirable," he finally replied, unable to hide his surprise. "You'll fit in great here with a determination like that." Feeling he should perhaps offer more of an explanation. He had probably come off as incredibly bitter. "Gullcry was my brother. I suppose that's why I expected his help."
Anemonemist sounded awkward because of his suggestion, and Raggedwolf immediately regretted being so forthright. "Oh...I mean well, that's great and all, but only if you want! Can't really force you into friendship." ISHY of THQ & ADOXOGRAPHY

Anemonemist just nodded. "And drastic it shall be." she agreed, not really knowing what else to say afterwards. It seemed that amusement had all but ended once the two had gotten the point across. And she didn't want to drag on a conversation about how funny it would be to kill someone if Raggedwolf was finished.
Raggedwolf then went on, commenting how the former medicine cat--Gullcry--had been his own kin. With a small tilt of her head, she looked for words to respond to that. Anemonemist knew very little, if anything, about her siblings or parents. She couldn't share in someone's feelings about kin, and yet she did have an understanding of what it could be like. At times, Anemonemist wondered if having a brother or sister would have made life easier. But really, she was fine without any. "I see. So it was your own brother who went missing then." murmured the speckled healer.
"Y-your not forcing me into anything!" Anemonemist countered sharply, and then instantly regretted her tone of voice. The she-cat tried again. "I just--I'm not used to having someone call me their friend. I traveled alone as a rouge and did my own thing. I never... I do want to be your friend, Raggedwolf. I just don't know how friends... act."
