Brackensky took a deep breath.
The air was somewhat cool, the sky mildly cloudy but sunlight still managed to peek out. It was sunhigh, around the time where things would be the warmest. Unfortunately, warmest didn't mean warm anymore. Leaf-fall was here and leaf-bare wouldn't be far behind unfortunately. Still... The air wasn't quite frigid and posing a potential threat to one's physical health if exposed for too long quite yet. She figured she should enjoy the way things were while she could. Soon enough, many cats would be cursing the sky most likely.
She looked around, seeing some cats around. She assumed some cats were in their dens, some out in the territory doing patrols or other things. There were responsibilities and duties after all.
She herself didn't have anything in particular that needed doing at the moment, so she was content laying down near the edge of camp, opposite the exit, watching cats. She didn't even have to turn her head to notice some cat had lay down next to her.
"So. To whom do I owe the pleasure?"

❝ Would you Kill ❞ "Oh you know, no one important. A crazed killer, or perhaps a ghost," Snailpaw replied with a pleased purr, stretching out beside the queen. Sighing in content at the comfortable position, the grey tabby apprentice turned his attention to the stranger. He probably had made an unusual first impression, but that was his specialty.
"And you? I don't believe I've met you before." Craning his head, Snailpaw let his gaze travel over the she-cat. There was a certain milk scent on her that reminded him of his friend Spiderleaf. Noting that, he guessed this new she-cat was also a queen. Probably Spiderleaf's replacement, since she had ditched and left for Iceclan. ❝ To save a life? ❞

"No one important? I'd prefer if you'd leave that to my own judgement."
Brackensky finally turned her head to see an apprentice making himself comfortable. At least he didn't appear to be intimidated by strangers. That was nice. Plus he was interesting and making out to be a good conversational partner. All good things. She studied the tom with calculating eyes. He appeared to be almost adult size. He was most likely close to his warrior ceremony, where he'd come into all the responsibilities he'd have to manage as a true adult within the clan.
Then he inquired as to who she was. She gave a slight polite smile. "Oh, me? Just a traveler who's come to settle. I'm Brackensky, a new queen." She purred. "Now... I do believe since I gave you my name, it's only polite you return the favor."

❝ Would you Kill ❞ Snailpaw was faintly surprised by the she-cat's response, but didn't bother to correct her. No, she was definitely allowed to come up with her own opinion about him. It just seemed to put extra pressure on him now. What if it wasn't a good impression? Ugh, such a tedious pain.
"A travelling queen? That sounds familiar," Snailpaw purred, his eyes slitting in amusement. Yup, exactly like Spiderleaf. Appear one day and become a queen. Though, Spiderleaf had done a fantastic job, so perhaps he didn't have to worry about Brackensky. And since both of his parents were rogues and ex-Deathclan, he couldn't exactly judge her for her origins. "Well, welcome to Rockclan, Brackensky. My name is Snailpaw." ❝ To save a life? ❞

Brackensky appeared thoughtful.
The idea of a queen who had rather suddenly joined the clan was familiar? Hm. She was aware of the fact that a queen had left before she had arrived, hence why she had been given the duty of being one of the queens of Rockclan. Perhaps the queen who had left had a past vaguely resembling her's... Extremely vaguely. She tilted her head to the side. This tom was most certainly interesting. Didn't really seem serious or uptight. That was good. She briefly wondered if they had anything in common. Heh. No bother wondering about it, she really should keep talking and find it out herself.
"Snailpaw... Interesting name." She meowed, voicing her thoughts. Snails were slow... Brackensky was to a certain degree certain that this apprentice wasn't slow nor lazy. Then she nodded. "And... Ah, thank you. I'm quite happy to be here." She meowed.

❝ Would you Kill ❞ Snailpaw chuckled at the compliment. "So I've been told." He'd never encountered or heard of another Snailpaw before, so he was quite certain his name was a unique one. It was just like his father to name him as such as well, the tom was most definitely 'unique'. That was putting it kindly. "I'm half afraid Cloverstar is going to name me Snailgoo, or something scary like that." He confessed.
Nodding slowly, Snailpaw let a reassuring smile cross his face. "Rockclan is glad to have you. Ever since Spiderleaf left the nursery has been too quiet; Sandleaf comes out so rarely these days. If it's not prying, what made you decide to join Rockclan?" ❝ To save a life? ❞ @taggedy | word # | something SNAILPAW

Brackensky purred in amusement.
The idea of a name such as Snailgoo was more than mildly amusing. She hadn't met Cloverstar quite formally quite yet or had a proper conversation... But she was fairly sure the leader of Rockclan was such a cat that would allow another to keep their dignity. To some extent most likely. "Ha. I think you need not worry. I'm sure you'll have a name to be proud of." Then her expression returned to a neutral state. "Though... I should think you would make the name your's. Heh. You might make it a feared name regardless of anything."
She sighed. "Well... I should hope I can help with returning the life to the nursery." Then she appeared thoughtful. "Ah... Why I decided to stay rather than leave? I suppose... I'm perhaps the slightest bit tired of being alone. It's been that way for such a long time. I wanted something to change. Being in a clan thus far, despite my short time as of this moment, has already been leaps and bounds better than the idea of being alone till the day I die."

❝ Would you Kill ❞ Brackensky's encouragement was touching, and to an extent Snailpaw agreed. He was sure Cloverstar wouldn't give him a terrible name on purpose, but 'Snail' was odd to begin with so he was still just a little apprehensive. "Here's hoping," the tabby agreed with a laugh. "You know, that's actually quite inspirational. For being new to this whole 'queen' thing, you've got a knack for it." Snailpaw added, surprised despite himself. He hadn't even been exaggerating. The notion of being able to take a name and make it his through his deeds was incredibly motivational.
"If you ever need assistance, I'm always happy to offer a hand. Not with...birthing or anything. But you know, fixing walls, cleaning nests. The works," he offered instinctively, then added as an afterthought. "And Spiderleaf did promise to return should you need any advice or assistance. If you ever feel like you want to meet her, I can arrange that too."
He listened carefully to Brackensky, engrossed by her story. "Being alone? Well that's never going to happen here. You know for a moment I half-expected you to say you were from Deathclan or something." ❝ To save a life? ❞

Brackensky gave a small smile.
"Thank you." She mewed softly. She had simply been seeking to assure Snailpaw and apparently it come out as rather inspirational. According to him, she had a natural feel for being a queen already. That was a nice thought. She truly hoped she'd be able to do well, to pay back the clan for allowing her to stay. After all, it seemed like deadweight had no place around here. Either you were too young to do something truly meaningful, were already doing it, or had already done it. The words from Snailpaw helped her to truly think she'd be able to earn her place her. She certainly felt like she still had much to do before confidently being able to say she was Rockclan.
"Heh. Thank you, again... Snailpaw." She mewed. "I'll contact you if I find the nursery walls are a bit leaky, pokey... Anything else they may decide to be." Then Snailpaw mentioned Spiderleaf promising to return. Hm? That was curious. He mentioned her going to Iceclan... What was the purpose of her leaving and coming back to visit? Perhaps to ease the transition. Hm...
She gave a lighthearted laugh. "Oh, nothing like that. I was a simple loner before." Then she smiled a slight bit more than slightly. "I'm very happy to hear I won't be alone."

❝ Would you Kill ❞ Snailpaw nodded, accepting Brackensky's confirmation. He was glad that he could be of help to anyone, and being able to help out in the nursery made him miss his friend just a little less. "The camp could be on fire and I'd still come rushing in to patch a holey nursery at your command." He purred.
He wasn't sure whether he was disappointed or relieved that Brackensky had been nothing but a simple loner. "Oh, I see. Was it hard, trying to survive on your own?" He asked curiously, cocking his head. He'd never had to do such a thing, being in a clan at all, but he was independent by nature and sometimes he wished he could. "My parents both used to be in Deathclan before they came here, so you're certainly not alone. Rockclan takes in a lot of people from all over."

Brackensky chuckled lightly.
"I should think a burning camp should take priority... Though it's a whole other story if the nursery is the thing on fire." She mewed, amused. Though, privately she was hoping Snailpaw wasn't serious... She couldn't exactly tell all that well. She decided to assume he was joking.
She shook her head. "Not hard. Just lonely." She explained. While she'd been more or less tossed out as soon as her mother could, she'd been kicked out with the necessary skills for survival. How to defend herself, how to hunt well enough in order to not starve, what constituted as adequate shelter. While her mother apparently didn't care for her own kit, she apparently hadn't been heartless enough to leave her to die. She smiled slightly. "That's nice... " She then thought of what he said to be Deathclan. She knew a little about them, not much. Mostly that they were rather hostile rogues that were to be avoided and would probably shred you if you trespassed. She decided to say nothing of his heritage. Didn't matter, did it? They were all cats at the end of the day.

❝ Would you Kill ❞ "Alright, fair enough," Snailpaw agreed with a laugh. "Luckily we don't get much news of fires around here. Treeclan and Fireclan for sure, with all their burnable stuff. We got lucky in that respect." The last actual natural threat he'd heard of had been one of the larger Rockclan cliffs collapsing, and the previous Hawkstar having to save Redfern and another warrior. Even the Rockclan territory was quiet.
"I can imagine. I think I'd go insane without company. Though I've heard some say I'm a little insane already." He stuck out his tongue teasingly, eyes slitted in pleasure. Though he supposed being a lonely, lonely loner was a bit better than being a blood-thirsty murder cat from Deathclan. And with his own admission it looked like he'd thrown Brackensky through a bit of a loop. "Oh but, they're not about to kill you in the middle of the night or anything," he rushed to comfort her, afraid he'd made the queen nervous. "I'm actually quite proud of them. They were both kicked out at different times, but they're regarded as heroes by the clans." Then again, since that seemed very vague as well, he grimaced. "Have you heard about the time when Deathclan attacked each of the four clans and stole kits from the nursery?" ❝ To save a life? ❞

Brackensky smiled.
"Eh. I think every cat is a little crazy, even a slight bit. Otherwise, you're a total stiff." She joked. Then she chuckled as Snailpaw seemed to think she'd been caught off guard and was worried. Heh. She could be startled or surprised, but generally she took things in stride. "Oh, I know." She replied, not nervous at all. She gave a curious look. "I must say... That's quite amazing." She smiled.
His next statement made her narrow her eyes. "What do you mean?" She asked, a hostile tone accompanying her question. She knew the event had obviously already come and gone, but the very idea made her blood boil. From what she could tell, the clans in general treasured their young and were a far cry from her own mother. Take a kit from a mother who didn't even want the brat? Sure. That's good. But from a good mother who's ready to tear out your tongue and shove it down your throat? That made her angry.
