Frostpaw, as she usually was, was lonely. There weren't too many cats whom she knew in Rockclan, and she didn't often have anyone to talk to. She had expected, when she was a kit, that she would soon know everyone in this small clan. But she didn't. Her only friends, Sprucepaw and Sandpaw were, as expected, busy with training and other such things, while Frostpaw herself didn't really have much to do. It would be nice to be busy for once. Sighing, she flopped onto her paws on the edge of camp and waited, not sure what she was waiting for. Maybe some cat would simply come along? She sure hoped so. It was lonely, all alone in this big camp, with no cats around. ( Spruceclaw)

sprucepaw padded into camp after a recent hunt after dropping the fresh kill on the pile. he looked around the camp sighing at his long day. he just wanted to hang out with some friends for the rest of the day. he spotted frostpaw at the edge of the clearing and padded over to join her. "hi, frostpaw, its been a while with training and all." he said walking over to the she-cat and sitting down next to her.

Frost paw's eyes lit up as she spotted Sprucepaw, padding towards her. Finally, someone she knew! She hadn't talked to Sprucepaw in a while, not since the start of her apprenticeship, in fact. It was nice to see him again, to be reunited with old friends. "Hi Sprucepaw! Yeah, it has. I heard your mentor is training you well?" Privately, she felt a little jealous of Sprucepaw. His mentor was a good one, always bringing him out for training and all. Ivystem, on the other hand... Well, she wouldn't say that she was bad, but she was less around than most. It hurt, that she would probably become an apprentice later than Sprucepaw. But in a way, she enjoyed it, for there would be more time for her to explore the clan, as a curious apprentice. Somehow, she knew that it taught her patience, and that was good for her.

Frostpaw smiled at Sprucepaw, and answered his query as honestly as she possibly could. Ivystem wasn't bad, that was for certain. Indeed, she knew to appreciate the warrior and the lessons she taught her. "Ivystem's a good mentor too. She isn't always around, which isn't too nice, but when she is, she expects a lot. It's hard work, but I suppose it helps me grow too. She's a nice cat, under all that demanding difficulty. When I first met her, I was really scared of her but now it seems like a part of my daily routine. And my training's going pretty well. I've discovered that I love hunting!" She truly did think that Ivystem was great mentor. For all she knew, if Ivystem hadn't trained her, she wouldn't have discovered her flair for hunting, and that would be sad indeed.

He smiled at his friend she could always find a bright side. "It will definately help your patience. and cloudclan knows you need help with that." He said nudging her and giggling. In truth she was very patient but he was joking.

Frostpaw giggled along with him. She could hear the joking tone in his voice, and knew that Sprucepaw meant no offence by it. Indeed, it was nice to have a friend that she could joke around with, and play with. "Yeah, well, you aren't one to speak!" Putting on a mock insulted face, she broke out into a fit of laughing as she reapplied the utter hilarity of her facial expressions. "Well, what had Dappledcloud taught you?" In truth, she was asking this both out of interest and for a more personal reason. She knew that if she was very behind in her apprenticeship, she should probably ask someone for help. And knowing what the other apprentice had been taught would be a good start.

Frostpaw sighed softly as she heard what Sprucepaw had learnt. She had done a territory tour and hunting, but had yet to do some battle training. Well, they had time yet, and she would simply have to make do with what she could learn in time. Ivystem had, in fact, given off some hints that she would be having her assessment soon, and it disturbed Frostpaw that she was still so behind. Was she annoying Ivystem that badly, that the warrior saw a need to get rid of her so fast? Surely not! But still she wondered, and always would. Deciding to change the topic to happier matters, she forced a grin onto her face and spoke quickly, "Wow, you have done a lot! So, what's your favourite thing to hunt? Favourite battle move?" Her mind scrambled for things to say, anything to take her mind off training.

sprucepaw noticed her change in attitude and he felt a pang of sadness for his friend because he was ahead of her slightly. He decided it might be good to take her mind off things. "My favorite thing to hunt is shrew and other small rodents' my favorite move is a jumping swipe dapplecloud showed me. what about your favorite thing to hunt?" he asked trying to change her attitude.

Frostpaw dipped her head in response, contemplating a jumping swipe. It sure sounded interesting! She was fully excited to learn about it with Ivystem, hopefully in the next training session. Then again, she knew that most cats had different fighting styles, and certain moves might not be part of what Ivystem had learnt. If so, then she would simply have to learn it on her own, to be the best she could be. But, back to hunting. Ivystem had taught her how to hunt many animals as part of training. Well, not entirely taught. More like telling her that an animal was there, and to go and catch it. Still though. Her favourite sort of prey to catch was still the same, after all those training sessions. "Mice, I think. It was the first bit of prey that I practiced on, and even though the catch was really messy and I almost didn't make it, I did end up catching it all the same. So, it has good memories for me." Smiling at the thought of it, she turned to Sprucepaw, awaiting his response.

"Yeh, mice is pretty good i went after one on my first day and caught it only by its tail. almost didn't get it. i thought dapplecloud would be mad at me. but she just taught me more about it." He said remembering the good times he'd had in the forest. "So, what have you been up to recently?" He asked her coming back to the present.

Frostpaw grinned at Sprucepaw, revelling in the joy go being with her friend again. "That's how I caught mine too! I have a feeling Ivystem was expecting a little more, but it's still alright. I'll get better at it." She met Sprucepaw's silence with one of her own, both cats reflecting on their own stories. It was surely amazing, how they could learn so many things, and grow so much since they had been a kit. But still, there was a long way to go. And she was determined to see it through, Turning at the other cat's question, she shrugged. "Nothing too usual. Training, meeting other cats, trying to do the best I can. Like what every other cat is doing, in fact." Her life had had fairly little drama so far, but she didn't mind it. Of course, it was hard to live a boring life, but it was also good to have peace. She would rather be bored than miserable, and she was perfectly happy living a good, hardworking life.

He smiled at his friend. she was always content with the grim. "That sound... boring." he said with humor in his voice "i can't believe ivystem hasn't kept you busier than that." He added smiling. "I take it you haven't met anyone special yet." He said thinking of sandstone. he knew who was the right cat for him. he was already working out a way to talk to sandstone about their future after he becomes a warrior.

Frostpaw simply shrugged in response and sighed. It was true that her life was boring, but it was necessary in a way. And she sure hoped that Ivystem wasn't doing this on purpose. But her mentor simply didn't seem like that kind of cat. About to defend Ivystem, she was stopped short as Sprucepaw changed the subject. A special someone? Her mind immediately flew to Spark, and all he meant to her. Yes indeed, she had someone. Smiling faintly at the thought, she got lost for a moment in her memories, only forcing herself back to the present after some time. "Yes, I think I've got someone. Do you?" Privately, she wondered if Sprucepaw had been thinking about Sandstone. They had a pretty close relationship after all. But then her mind flickered to another memory, of a certain border meeting. What if Sandstone is interested in Thunderfox instead? That would break everyone's hearts. Including Spark's. Sighing again deeply at the thought, she decided to put it from her mind for now. She would cross that bridge when she came to it.
