I caught the hasty fix in his sentence, but decided to question it after the hunt. In response to his question, I took a deep breath and leaped up as high as I could onto a nearby tree. Scrabbling frantically at the bark, I managed to clamber ungracefully onto a lower branch, then prepared to go higher to leap across and get the bird. I wasn't exactly used to climbing: Eagleheart had taught me to hunt using the boulders as leaping platforms, not trees.

Spruceclaw watched as his mentor jumped at the tree. he ran to the opposite side of the large tree from the bird. he slithered up the tree gracefully although not as gracefully as the treeclanner who had taugh him. he made his way to a branch above the bird so he could stop it if his old mentor missed.

I narrowed my eyes. The bird was on a branch a little higher than I was, but I couldn't go much higher or I would lose my balance when I leaped down. Bunching my haunches, I nodded to Spruceclaw, who was perched quite calmly on a sturdy branch a few tail-lengths above me. I leaped up, batting at the bird with my outstretched claws, but I missed and the branch was too thin. Landing rather heavily on the ground, I saw a flash of wings and saw it was heading toward Spruceclaw. Get it!

Spruceclaw watched as his old mentor leaped out at the bird. he saw the bird take off and he was ready even before she told him to grab it. he leaped out claws out. he felt his claws dig in to the birds flesh as he hooked it and the two came crashing down to earth. as he was about to hit the ground he roled with the fall. it still knocked the air from his lungs. and he coughed and weezed.

I helped to nudge Spruceclaw to his paws again. "Nice landing," I teased, "but that was a nice catch! How did you learn to climb like that?" I asked curiously. Not many RockClanners learned or bothered to learn how to climb, there were so few trees in the territory apart from some of the more stunted ones.
[It's funny that your post count has already exceeded mine xD]

"I... see." I said, deciding not to probe further on the question. I looked up at the sky, which was beginning to darken. "Do you think that bird's enough for today? It's getting late."
(wondering if we should wrap up the thread since we have another one with Cloverstar)
