Emberkit ran around the nursery, then out into the clearing of the camp, then ran back into the nursery, doing nothing in peticular. On her fourth run, she passed a new and unfamiliar face. Ooh, a new kit! She thought as she skidded to a stop in the middle of the camp. She watched the other cat curiously, seeing if she would do anything. She looked lonely, or sad, or both. Emberkit padded over to her, wondering what was wrong. "Hi," she meowed once she got within hearing distance. She continued trotting right up to the other kit, and sat down right beside her. It wasnt the usual approach she took, it was unplanned, and very awkward. She scanned the camp with her blue eyes, feeling a little pushy and fast. This wasnt the right approach that she should've took. Hopefully the other kit wasn't bothered by it.

Littlekit surveyed her surroundings with steady eyes, a gaze so different that one would have to look twice to be sure their senses weren't deceiving them. One was pale blue, and the other was a soft amber. Opposites. Her spiky fur prickled further as her gaze settled upon a pair of kittens, one black-and-white, the other cream-and-grey, and she hesitated for a heartbeat before sauntering over to join them, eyes slightly narrowed as she regarded the two.
"Hello," she said at last. Her voice seemed almost singsong, swaying between notes like a melody, laced with a soft rasp. "I'm... Littlekit... Who are you?" she hesitated to add, her eyes betraying her uncertainty, As she froze between words, the general hubbub of the nursery seemed to as well, as if her denmates too were pausing to take in their thoughts.
[hope you don't mind my jumping in c:]

She took a seat beside the older kitten, mismatched orbs resting on hers, fumbling for something to say to fill the suddenly tense silence. "Who's your mother, Ravenkit?" Littlekit said at last, shifting her miniscule, smoke-coloured paws. She raised one over her petite head, wondering how Ravenkit saw her. She was little, like her name so bluntly stated, far smaller than younger kits. Her fur waa dark grey, with darker flecks like rain dappling the earth, and it spiked out in every angle, spiralling around her in shadowy disarray in a breeze. She felt a sudden urge to hide her eyes, fearing that her heterochromia - the curse of having eyes different colours - made her odd. A freak.

"Tinydapple," the tiny kitten mused as if speaking to herself, the rasp in her almost like a soothing purr. "She must be small, like me." she spoke at last, gossamer-like whiskers twitching thoughtfully. Her bicoloured eyes were almost crestfallen as they swept the ground in front of her, ashamed of her petite frame. "Is she your true mother?" she raced over the words in her anxiety to change the subject.

(hey sorry I haven't posted in this for a while, i've been busy being an apprentice)
Emberkit had been watching Ravenkit and some other kit talk for a while, finally she spoke up. "So your mother is Tinydapple?" she asked. She had been daydreaming halfway through the two kits conversation. "Mine is Sorrelpatch, and my brother is Jaykit. Do you know him?"

Lucky. Something like resentment formed within Littlekit. Ravenkit would never know how lucky she was to have a mother, and siblings, in her Clan. "I know him," the small female hesitated to speak, unsure whether Emberkit was addressing her. Her voice was like velvet, yet raspy, and almost singsong, as well as just loud enough to be clearly heard. "Is he a silver tabby?" she added. Perhaps he wasn't the only one... Maybe there were other Jaykit's. Maybe other Littlekit's too... Would they be as small as she was? She slowly closed and opened her lilac orbs, fixing them upon Emberkit's to listen to her response.

"Yea, he's silver, with black stripes, and the most annoying, cocky voice ever." she laughed, knowing that her brother was extremely friendly like herself. "He's pretty strange." Emberkit smiled.

"I met Jaykit not that long ago. He threw a worm and it woke Ravenkit up. She was pretty grumpy about it and she wouldn't shut up... At least I tried," the dark kitten explained. Her fur was neatly groomed and dry, still, it stuck out in stubborn spikes, just like a hedgehog's. "He's pretty strange." "I don't know about that," Littlekit shrugged, her lavender-hued gaze observing the expression on Emberkit's muzzle. In response, a half-smile formed on her maw. "Aren't we all?" She glanced down her fur, a spiky mess as always.

Emberkit smiled. "Yes we are." She looked around for her brother, but couldn't spot him anywhere. "Hopefully he behaves around you, because I'll be leaving to be an apprentice soon."

"...Because I'll be leaving to be an apprentice soon." Her pupils widened with interest at those last few words, frustration flaring for a heartbeat - after all, it would be much longer before the tiny cat would be moving dens - and a small smile graced her muzzle. "Congratulations!" Littlekit celebrated, laying her petite head on her paws, looking up at her denmate. Her smile became wider and more genuine. "Do you know when the ceremony will be held?" The tips of her ears grew warm, knowing how ignorant she must sound to the older, more experienced kitten.
