Songpaw
Rain drizzled down mournfully. It was unusual for it to rain when the air was still chill. Emberkit's ears sagged with the added wetness that hung on them, her soft coat frizzy and clingy, showing her ribs through her skin. It was a gloomy morning. Emberkit sighed as rain dripped annoyingly on her head. She looked up at the grey sky, hoping it would stop soon. The dirt around her was turning to mud, sticking to her paws and making her cream coat brown. She got even more annoyed. This is the worst morning ever, she thought, remembering the beautiful sunrise she had watched just days before. Weather changed so quickly, and that was annoying. She wanted to be an apprentice, out hunting and training, not sitting in mud, watching nothing but the camp slowly fill up with water. My ceremony is coming soon. Emberkit looked around, not a soul stirred. What time was it? Where was everyone? The day couldn't be any gloomier.

Songkit crouched in the entrance of a gloomy den, watching as rain pattered down onto the dirt to form mud, and soon form puddles. Her ears twitched in slight distaste, as well as disappointment. The young kitten would have headed back to her den in order to join the other kits, but it was too noisy with everyone bundled inside. Apart from the cat scent in this den, as well as the nests, you wouldn't even find evidence it was one, it probably belonged to the Warriors, as they would all be off doing something else, or maybe it might have been the apprentices den.
Shrugging indifferently, Songkit cast her blue gaze across the camp, unsure as to weather she should risk the mud or not. That was when she spotted another kit, sitting out in the steadily falling rain. Tilting her head in confusion, the creamy kitten got to her paws and stood with her head and shoulders outside the unfamiliar den, the rain soaking her through in seconds. "In here!" she called out to the older cat, gesturing with her tail to the shadowy confines of the den, flickering raindrops from her ears. "It's quiet, empty and dry" she added, attempting to encourage the clearly irritated kit out of the rain.

(sorry i haven't posted in a while)
Emberkit turned her head to the sound of another kit. She saw that the kit was trying to make her come over, so reluctantly, she padded into the dry den and sat down, dripping from ears to tail. "Hi," she mewed, picking up her tail and looking at it in disgust. The dry dirt beneath her paws became muddy, and she jumped up and moved.

Songkit's head fur was soaked through to the skin by the time the older kit joined her, yet she waited as patiently as she could, which wasn't quite like her. Backing into the den, she moved out of range of the other and shook out her pelt, glaring frustratedly at it as it decides to poof up like a cloud. Sighing, the kitten finds a dry place and begins to smooth out her creamy pelt with long rasps of her tongue, pausing to glance at the other. "Hi, I'm Songkit. Though I assume you'd know that by now." She smirked slightly at this and ran her paw over her head thoughtfully. "You're Emberkit right? Apparently you're to be named soon. Are you looking forward to being an apprentice?" The kitten blinked good-humouredly as Emberkit glared disgustedly at her tail before shifting off the mud patch she'd made. "Try shaking out your coat. Then groom it like I am" she suggested lightly with the slightest hint of a smirk before she returned to washing her back.

Emberkit shook out her coat as Songkit had suggested, making it ouff up in some stops. She started soothing it down, glacing up quickly to talk to the other kit between licks. "I bet being an apprentice will be lots of fun. I watch the apprentices once in a while, see what their doing." She bent her head down and licked her tail smooth. "You know your names, seems like." she smiled before licking her oaw and setting it down in front of her. She wrapped her tail around her paws, and looked up at Songkit.

Songkit didn't speak until her coat was groomed to her satisfaction, which wasn't perfection, but it was suitable. Then she lifted her head, mimicking the other's action of passing her tail over her paws, meeting the kitten's gaze. "Yeah, I would like to get to know our home a little better. Battle training seems rather interesting, though hunting is a good skill. I just hope my mentor isn't bossy, but maybe a little tough. Warriors around here are too soft, even the leader. Oh well, I guess you gotta take what you can get." This older cat perked her interest slightly, and she flicked her ears to listen as she lay down, tucking her paws beneath her chest and blinking slowly. "Yeah, I don't partake in much, but I listen. I hear a name and find out who it belongs to. Could be useful in future. I just pay attentive to what the Warriors say, they seem to know about who's who. And kits know each other even before they meet thanks to queens and siblings." The kit gave a nonchalant shrug and closed her eyes momentarily before meeting the other's gave in interest. The two of them might get along in future, so she had decided.

Emberkit took everything Songkit had said into consideration. She had a good plane in her head, meet all the kits and get to know them. That was she could know almost everyone in the camp. The other kit looked almost like her, with her cream fur. The difference was the color of either stripes, and Emberkit's heart pattern on her nose. "Are you ready to be an apprentice yourself?" she asked Songkit.
(I'm gonna be a warrior soon, and your gonna be an apprentice soon too, so many just a few more posts then we could make a new thread. I could be your mentor, if you want.)

(im just going with whoever is made my mentor. we should finish this up now though, then start another after the ceremonies, we'll have to pretend it was a long time since though, as when we started Ember was a kit, and Song was only new.) The young kitten blinked at the older cat, before shaking her head gently. "No, I am nowhere near old enough to begin my training" she responded plainly. Unlike other kittens, she faced this as fact, and did not mind waiting as much. This, however, did not mean she wasn't excited to become an apprentice. She now realized, Just as Ember had, that they were fairly simalar, in looks and in viewpoints of this clan and its cats. Songkit herself was beginning to view the other somewhat as a future friend. Though for now they would remain aquaintances, as this was simply a passing conversation.

Emberkit looked out at the drizzling rain, seeing that night was beginning to fall. "Well," she sighed. "Maybe I'll see you again. Since your not too close to being an apprentice yet."

Songkit twitched her ears and followed Ember's gaze to the outside world. The rain seemed to have become a thin drizzle by now, and many young cats had retired to their dens for some rest, while others were finishing up they're meals. Still looking outside, the kitten shrugged. "I'm sure we'll chat again. But for now I best head back to the nursery. Don't want to upset mother or my siblings." Getting to her paws, she headed out into the rain. "You coming?" she questioned before bounding away without a second thought.

Emberkit watched the other kit go, then got to her own paws and bounded off into the rain and over to the nursery. Once she got inside, it was warm, dry, and extremely crowded. She settled down next to her mother and started to doze off.
