As the golden sun began to rise on the horizon, the sky turned from a violet sea into a mix of deep blues and oranges, each fighting for control of the whole canvas. Spottedkit smiled as he watched the stars fade away, as if all of them began to fall asleep as day broke. He was just about to step outside to try and get some breakfast when a rustle behind him made him turn his head. Another kit was there, in the sea of mosses and feathers. He smiled and got to his paws.
As he padded up to the kitten he grinned even further and let out a little purr. "Hi there, I'm Spottedkit." He said quietly, as not to wake up the other kittens that were still asleep amongst the moss and their mothers' warm fur. "What's your name?" He asked quietly, hoping the kit wasn't too sleepy to speak with him.

Never one for wasting the day away, Lionkit had risen early, eager to do something other than sleep. The soft beauty of the leaf-bare sunrise was an added bonus, and one that quickly had the young tom distracted from his trek to the prey pile. It wasn't until another cat called out to him that he realized he had stopped walking entirely, and had been moving his tail back and forth as he lost himself in the open morning sky. Mimicking the newly introduced Spottedkit, the tom spoke in a voice just above a whisper. "Nice to meet you," he said, stepping forward so that the other tom could hear him more clearly. "My name's Lionkit."

The tiny cat rose from her slumber with dainty paws, gaze studying her surroundings and flicking to the sun, cresting the horizon as the stars departed their home in the once dark sky. Rays of light began to stream through thin cracks in the nursery walls, bathing the kitten in warmth. Paper-thin ears twitched speculatively as soft voices drifted from outside, one of which that was vaguely familiar. With a brief stretch of her limbs, diminutive Littlekit slipped into the few fading shadows that remained of the night and padded outside. "Hello, Lionkit," she greeted. Curious eyes rested upon the second kitten. "'M' Littlekit, who're you?" she dared to query, a soft rasp lacing her words.

Spottedkit smiled as Lionkit exchanged greetings with him. They seemed to be roughly the same age, although due to Spotted's own smaller size, the other tom may think differently. "Lionkit, that's a nice name. It fits your pelt, and it sounds brave, too." He purred, finishing just as the other she-cat walked up. She was really small, but with how she walked and talked she seemed older than what her size represented.
Spotted dipped his head at her. "Nice to meet you Littlekit. I'm Spottedkit, and this-" he pointed his tail at Lionkit's fiery pelt "-is Lionkit. I was just about to go get some breakfast, would you two like to join me?" He asked politely, looking at each with optimism.

Before Spottedkit had a chance to reply, a familiarly tiny figure strode from the shadows of the nursery. Flashing Littlekit a smile by way of greeting, Lionkit turned his attention back to the other tom. "I was heading that way myself, actually. It'd be a pleasure to join you," he replied, striding forward to bring himself closer to both Spottedkit and the prey pile, his golden pelt catching and reflecting the faded morning sunlight as he moved. He stopped a moment to enjoy the brisk winter air, and turned his attention back toward the nursery's entrance to see what Littlekit would say to Spottedkit's invitation.

(Uhh, let's just skip Little for right now? It's been a few days and she hasn't been on since she replied. Maybe we'll give her a bit more time after we both make a couple more posts!)
Spottedkit smiled at Lionkit's response and began padding towards the fresh-kill pile. He looked to see if the other two were coming, and then he grabbed a mouse from the pile. It was small compared to most of the prey, which was saying something. Leaf-Bare had really taken its toll on the prey. He settled down a fox-length away, in a bit of sun, and looked to see what Lionkit had gotten. Spotted would have offered to share, but his own mouse was the perfect size for just him.

(Yeah that works for me.)
Turning back to face the prey pile, Lionkit padded forward once more, studying the pile to see if anything in particular caught his eye. He noticed the mouse that Spottedkit had chosen for himself, and winced a bit at how small it was; thought the clan hadn't suffered anything unusually brutal this leaf-bare, it would still be a relief when newleaf came back to the forest. Lionkit decided on a scrawny squirrel, something that could fill a kit, but not much else. Sitting down beside Spottedkit, the lithe young tom took a bite of his breakfast before he said anything more, savoring the taste of the prey even if it was a bit sinewy. He turned his emerald gaze upward, admiring the simple beauty the sunrise provided once more, and then focused his attention upon Spottedkit. "I don't recall seeing you around the nursery before now. Who's your mother, if you don't mind my asking?" Though his question was blunt, Lionkit's tone retained its usual amiability, and his gaze was friendly, reflecting the small smile that sat upon the young tom's white muzzle.
