Sunkit

Silentkit walked through the melting snow, staring at the frozen earth as she padded through it. Leaf-bare was coming to an end, and the troubles would lift from Silentkit's head. She honestly did worry a lot about snow, because even the slightest chill could kill a cat. It was enough to make her stay inside the nursery for a while.

But now the snow was melting, giving Silentkit a chance to explore the camp. When she was a few tail-length's away from the den, she quickly saw her littermate, Sunkit. She didn't speak, she only waved her tail in greeting and smiled.

The tip of Sunkit's tail wavered from side to site as he stared at the snow contemptuously. It worried him, as he'd heard many a story of elders and kits dying of white cough, and a worse disease know as Agreencough that could even steal away a warrior. He shivered at the thought as he hesitantly allowed one ginger paw to sink into the white expanse that layered across the clearing. Letting out an irritated snort, he shook droplets off his paws and skimmed along the edge of the frosty substance until he passed by the nursery entrance. Briefly, the young tom paused to peer into the shadows. He spotted other kittens, though felt no drive to wake them so early in order to engage in conversation.

Sighing, he slunk away again, forcing himself to brave the chill of the snow as he plowed through it, soon almost feeling like he might possibly drown in it. Could one drown in snow? He shrugged and shook his head, cursing himself at his foolishness as he bounded forward a few more paces to reach drier land. Now that he was only paw-deep, he took the opportunity to shake out his golden pelt and glare at the snow with narrowed green eyes. Soon enough, a waving tail caught his eye and he spotted his sister waving a greeting. Rolling his eyes in mock reluctancy, he picked a drier path across to his sister and touched noses with her gently. "Does mother want me?" he questioned, curious as to why his sister, Silentkit, had gestured him back to the den. Once again, he peered inside and spotted the sandy she-cat.

Silentkit laughed quietly to herself as Sunkit didn't understand her greeting. She nudged him gently and smiled. "I was just saying hi, dork." She said happily. The reluctance of the snow had faded away slightly, as conversation was an easy distraction from most of her mind. She glanced behind her and stared at the camp.

Her tail twitched as she meowed quietly to Sunkit, "You exploring camp, too?" She asked casually.

"Hey!" he responded indignantly, swatting his sister over the ears with a soft kitten paw. "I'm no dork!" yet he still purred amusedly and returned her greeting with a friendly wave of his own tail. The snow was almost forgotten for a brief second, though at the mention of exploring the camp, he turned his attention upon it once more. "Yep, pretty much. Wanna do something else?" he asked curiously, twitching his ears as he bounded back toward the center of camp where the meeting place was. With his tail, he gestured his litter mate to follow before stepping up and peering at the place Cloverstar made announcements to her clan from. His curiosity peeked, and he shifted one paw to step on it, curling his whiskers in envy at how often the she-cat placed her paws where endless leaders had trodden before her. Glancing at his sister, he gave her a crooked grin before taking another pace upwards until all four tiny paws were planted on the base.

Silentkit felt a tiny bit hurt at her brothers reply, but his amused purr got her hopes up. The black she-kit followed after Sunkit, since she didn't find running her thing. When the two got to the main clearing, Silentkit gawked in amazement at the leaders rock.  

Then Sunkit started to climb it, Silentkit padded up til she was a few mousetails away. "I.. Don't think you should do that..." She said uuncomfortably.

The young Tom smiled as his sister followed, yet as she gawked nervously at him and hesitated, he halted with one paw raised and rolled his eyes at her. "Honestly Silentkit, one day this will be my rock. I better start getting used to it now." he purred amusedly and flicked his tail over her jaws to silence her from voicing anymore doubts. Pricking his ears, he pounded up until he perched at the top. As he gazed out over the clearing, his eyes widened and his jaw fell open in awe. Forcing himself to avert his gaze, he flicked his tail urgently for her to come. "Hey, get up here and take a look" he urged, shuffling his paws on the surface so her stood one the very edge, leaning over to stare down at the clearing. Staring straight down so close to the edge made him feel a little dizzy and off balance, though he managed to stay upright as he signalled to his sister again.

Silentkit was about to speak, but her mouth was covered in fluff before she could say anything. When he signaled her to join on the great rock, though hesitate, started to climb the rock. Coughing to herself as she climbed up, it must be her asthma, or this cold. When she finally sat next to her brother, she immediately flinched and backed up from the edge.

"C-can we go now. This seems dangerous..!"

Sunkit glanced back at his sister, eyes knotted with concern as she coughed a few times before joining him at the top of the rock. He purred slightly and brushed his side against hers before leaning over the edge, peering down at a crevice in the rock. "Hey, there's cobwebs down here" he told her, hoping to give them to the medicine cat. This was the only thing about healing he knew of, so he might as well use it. Extending his paw, he went to wrap them around it, reaching further over the edge. "Almost got it..." just as he spike, his balance wavered and he tumbled forward, crashing through the spider web and hitting the ground. At first he lay still for a second, before he groaned and caught his breath, shaking his head. "Don't worry, the snow broke my fall!"he called in to his sister, now covered in spiderwebs. Though he didn't try to sit up.

Silentkit watched in horror as she saw Sunkit go plummeting to the ground. Her brown eyes grew big and she bounded to the edge, despite her fear of heights. She still remained shocked as she looked down, even though her brother said he was OK. "You could have broken your neck! What would mom say!?" She yelled, an angry edge to her voice, but mostly worry filled her tone.

At his sisters words, Sunkit huffed out an irritable breath and rolled his eyes at her. "Don't tell her then" he suggested, getting to his paws and shaking out his ruffled pelt before trotting over to his sister. He nuzzled her gently and offered a purr before flexing each of his muscles and joints one by one. "I'm fine, see? Nothing broken" he gaze her a goofy lop sided grin before bounding off through the snow. "Come on, what do you wanna do?"

Silentkit watched as Sunkit stretched out each limp, stating that nothing was broken. Silentkit sighed in relief and followed her brother more slowly. The snow crunched beneath her large paws and she smiled weakly at Sunkit. "I just want something to do that isn't dangerous." She meowed with a purr of amusement to herself.

Sunkit shook out his pelt and purred at his sister amusedly. "Alright, what is it you wish to do, Ma'am" he purred, mock bowing as he twitches his tail in an amused gesture. He then went on to look almost submissive as he bowed right down into a crouch on the ground, before shaking his head and rising into a battle stance, tail lashing side to side I challenge. "How about a play battle?" he suggested, offering a fake snarl and unsheathing the tiny claws of one forepaw before lowering the paw and sheathing them again, pricking his ears and staring with intense curiosity at his sister.

Silentkit remained still for a moment and she laughed to herself, twitching her ears as she hesitantly got into a fighters stance. "OK, your majesty. As long as no one gets too hurt." She meowed with slight mockery, rolling her eyes. "Ready?"

As his sister dropped into a hesitant crouch and rolled her eyes, he copied her before smirking amusedly. "Don't worry, I don't bite. Much." he purred amusedly before flickering his tail once and circling her, keeping his claws sheathed and a playful expression on his sly face. "You first ma'lady" he decided, flicking his tail in a signal with a slight twitch of his ears.

Silentkit nodded and thought on how she should attack first for a few moments. She then smiled and ran in circles around Sunkit, changing directions every few seconds. She wasn't much for fighting unless she was agitated, so Silentkit preferred using her mind to win.
