Beechroot did the same. He loved her, but in a respectful way. He knew she had love to give to others and that he couldn't hog it all. "Do you think you could help me to my feet?"

Beechroot leaned on her and tested his paws. "Okay, I'm going to try and walk." He wobbled away from her and made a few steps before falling over once more.

"No!" It came out kind of snappy, but Beechroot didn't mean it to be. "I've always taken care of myself." A lie. His exhaustion and hunger was making him very irritable. It was very unlike himself.
