PetalfurHey we never did finish our battle training thread. So I was thinking we could finish it here?) Icepaw padded out into the open of the barn area. She wasn't used to it at all. This area was weird to her, nothing like home. She quickly found where her mentor, Petalfur was and padded over to her. "Hello Petalfur? Sorry to wake you but...we never finished training." She meowed softly. Her voice close to a whisper.

The young Bengal sat observantly as her apprentice's scent reached out to her. Petalfur smiled, dipping her head in greeting. She still felt wary about Iceclan's temporary home, seeing as they did kinda steal it from a whole group. Petalu's body tensed at every turn, expecting a cat to be launching it's fangs at her throat. All this tensing didn't do too well on her soar right leg, though, of which had been injured mysteriously in the avalanche. Despite her hopes, it had not become less painful.
"Of course!" She replied immediately, standing and stretching. A complete day of training would be good for both she-cats, Petal believed, especially since anything could happen at that point. "How are you doing?" Petalfur inquired as she flicked her tail towards the barn exit and began the trek into the wilderness.

"Adjusting to our temperary home is hard." She meowed honestly, all the loners, and clan cats together? She didn't feel a good vibe with that. "How about you?" She asked.

How was she? Petalfur shook her head, her gaze lingering on the ground for a few moments as she walked. "Same," she responded, striding over a divot in the ground. "I just keep turning what that loner said, over and over again, in my head, about how they think we're entitled to everything. In some what, I guess, they're right." Petalfur shrugged, looking at the sky as she stopped in the middle of a grassy clearing. "I'dunno, I just keep thinking: are us clan cats really any better, or different at all, from loners, and rogues, and kittypets?" She sighed, shuffling her feet as she prepared for training. "Anyway, tell me what you remember? Demonstrate everything you remember from our last session and we'll continue from there."

Icepaw thought for a moment. They hadn't really covered much in the time before the avalanche. She suddenly then remembered the had learned a basic move. "Can I demonstrate it? It's hard to really remember. I think maybe it was called a basic strike?" She questioned herself.

Petalfur nodded. That sounded like something she would start with. Occasionally cats would tease her on her preference of chronologically going about tasks. She could have cared less.
"Of course," Petal responded. Standing before her apprentice as a kind of living dummy. "Give it all you got."

Icepaw nodded keeping her paws sheated of course. She lowered herself into a hunters crouch, balancing her hind legs and then bringing a powerful paw down just in front of her mentor. Perfect and precise motions.
"How was that?" She asked.

"Perfect," Petalfur praised with a warm smile. Her apprentice had always been a quick study. "The next one is simplistic one that you'll probably get instinctively. If a cat knocks you over onto your back, curl your hind legs up under you and rake your claws down their belly while pummeling their head and face. This will disorient your opponent so its harder for them to counter attack, and will allow your to make some fresh wounds." Petalfur motioned for her apprentice to lay on her back, then positioned herself over her.

Icepaw nodded and lay on her back while her mentor postioned herself above her. "Like this?" She asked quickly before trying the move for herself. Ice curled her hind legs back and racked her sheated claws across her mentors belly while pummeling her head not hard enough to cause enough damage as a real battle but just enough for training.

"Close," Petal responded, nudging her apprentice's head down. "Keep your neck concealed. It's unlikely that a warrior will attack your throat, but it's good to practice. Rogues won't be so... nice." She then pressed Icepaw's legs down toward her belly. "When you kick, try to make them quick. Snap out, snap in, keep your belly protected. Your pummeling is good, just remember to keep your limbs tight and close to your opponent. If their head gets past, they'll have access to a majority of unprotected body. Try it again."

Icepaw nodded not thinking of her neck being exposed, she was lucky to have that pointed out for her. When her mentor pushed her legs back into her stomach she nodded on the explamation why. At least her pummelings right but she need to be fast while striking so she could protect herself. Could I try again? She asked. She wanted to get this move perfected. Its a perfect move to use if shes pinned down by a rougue and she doesn't want the rougue to have any advantage.

They had once sparred here, in this clearing. Petalfur realized that as her gaze dragged around the area momentarily. She nearly choked on her feelings. Icepaw's voice was a whisper, and it took her a moment to hear what she had said. Blinking feverishly, Petalfur brought herself back out of the trance, smiling as warmly as she could muster at the moment. "Of course. Go for it."
