Wolfpaw nodded and stood up. He trotted over to the makeshift fresh-kill pile and selected a mouse from the top. It was still warm. 'I think he'll like this.' Gripping it tighter, he headed back to Woollykit and dropped it at his paws. Wolfpaw smiled, tearing off a small piece with his claws and dragging it towards Woollykit. "There you go."

"Thank you!" He exclaimed, looking at the small piece of mouse before poking it with his nose. It was warm!
Excited, he picked it up and began to chew it a little, going kind of slow and savouring the taste. It was the best thing he'd ever eaten!
"Yum!" He liked his lips once he had finished the piece, grinning.

Wolfpaw purred at the tom's reaction. He ripped off a little more with his claws, and pushed it toward Woollykit again. "Eat up. I think your mother will be happy." 'One less mouth for her to feed tonight.'

Woollykit nodded enthusiastically before calming a little and eating the small piece of mouse that he was given.
"She will." He purred, thinking of his mother.

Wolfpaw nodded. He wondered what Woollykit thought of this place. Would he miss it when they moved back to the mountains? 'What if he thinks it's too cold?' The apprentice shrugged to himself. Woollykit would be fine. "Good."

Woollykit nodded before opening his mouth to ask a question, "Is ice cold?" it seemed pretty random at first, but then he explained himself a little, "'Cause we're called Iceclan but it's really warm here and there's no ice."

"Is ice cold?" Wolfpaw looked a little confused for a moment, then tipped his head to the side when he continued. "Yeah, ice is cold." He looked down at Woollykit. "I agree. I think it's a little too warm here. Our real home is much colder."

'Our real home? But I thought this was our real home.' He thought confusedly. If this wasn't their home, why we they here?
"Why are we here if this isn't our real home?"

"Our real home..." He trailed off, trying to think of how to describe an avalanche. "Our real home was attacked by a snow monster. We're staying here for now."

"Snow monster?" Woollykit squealed, cowering a little.
"Why did anyone live there if there's snow monsters? We're not going back right?" He asked fearfully, voice sped up.

"No, it's not like that." Wolfpaw said quickly. seeing the kit getting a little fearful. "It's a wonderful home. I don't think the snow monster will attack again anytime soon. The damage is already done." He thought about the camp, watching it crash down with all of that snow... He shuddered at the thought.

"Oh okay." the young kit blushed, embarrassed at getting so scared because of something that wasn't going to hurt him any time soon.
"So it's not there anymore?"

"Nope." He said, tapping his tail against the ground. They'd have to rebuild everything. Wolfpaw groaned a little at the thought of doing so much work. 'Maybe this barn isn't so bad. I could stay here a little longer.'

"Oh okay!" He purred, "What's our home look like? Is it big?" He asked, curious.

"Yes, it's very big." He answered, thinking of the things their mountain home had that the farmhouse didn't. "There's a lot of trees. And snow hares. There's a river, too."
