She shrugged. She didn't like talking about herself. It just felt... Wrong, in a way. Though she knew she had to answer. It'd be the polite thing to do, considering he had given her a very detailed answer earlier. She thought for a moment, shuffling her paws. "Well, my only brother is Webpaw." Hailspirit regained her smile at the thought of him. "Silentpaw and Raggedwolf are probably my closest friends." Her smile grew a bit, and a gentle purr rumbled in her throat. She loved all of those cats dearly and just thinking of them brightened her mood.
"And now that you are a warrior, is it everything you expected it to be?" She nodded. "Pretty much. Though there were a few surprises here and there." Hailspirit tapped her tail against her paws. "Say, Ripplepaw... You never did tell me who your friends and family were."

[So due to the fact that this account was made so long ago I actually can't figure out who Ripplepaw's mother is so until I work that out I'm just going to ignore the family part of the question I guess?? cx]
The tom listened politely to the warrior. It was obvious by the way she talked about her family and friends that she cared for them dearly. He smiled. "I've met Silentpaw before... however, I believe she was a kit and it was a brief meeting. I guess I'll eventually see her in the apprentices den." He concluded. "I don't know Webpaw or Raggedwolf, but I'm sure they're wonderful cats. Maybe I'll run into them someday!"
"A few surprises, huh?" He asked, although he didn't expect her to explain herself. "Right... Well, when I was a kit, I had a really close friend named Ashkit... I became an apprentice before her, but we stayed really close and I'd visit her. However... she isn't around anymore. I've met some cats here and then, but Ashkit was really my closest friend." He mewed, frowning slightly. No need to dwell on the past. "But, I've not really been good at making friends anyway." He admitted, giving the warrior another sheepish smile.

She nodded once. 'I bet Webpaw and Raggedwolf would get along with him. I hope he runs into one of the two.' She thought, listening closely as Ripplepaw answered. "Ashkit..." She echoed, as if repeating the name would make her remember the cat. "I've never met her. But who knows. Maybe she'll return." It was weird how often cats would go missing, kits especially. 'I wonder what's causing it.'
"But, I've not really been good at making friends anyway." "That's alright. You're my friend, and a cat doesn't need too many friends to be happy." 'You just need good ones.' Hailspirit sniffed the air again, trying to find the tom's scent. She wanted to remember it. 'I hope we become close friends. He's so nice.'

Maybe she'll return.
Ripplepaw smiled solemnly. It was doubtful, but a little hope couldn't hurt... Seeing Ashkit again would be nice. He tried not to ponder on what happened to her too much. Overthinking things just led to more questions.
Ripplepaw's eyes lit up when the warrior called him a friend. "I guess that's true. I'd rather have you over a bunch of cat's I barely know..." he admitted. He had met a few cat's that he had tried to be friends with, but it was usually short lived.
Ripplepaw pondered for a moment how Hailspirit inherited her blindness. 'Was she born with it...?' He was sure that if he asked, it probably wouldn't offend her, but if something had happened recently to cause it... that might be a touchy subject. Either way, he knew that Hailspirit was managing just fine, blind or not.
"So, if you don't mind my asking... were you born blind?" he asked the warrior. She probably had gotten the question a lot... Maybe it was annoying to her. Maybe she thought less of him now? The tom's face began to heat up. "Um, you don't have to answer. I'm not trying to pry." He explained quickly. "Or offend..."

"I guess that's true. I'd rather have you over a bunch of cats I barely know..." She smiled. "Same here. You're easy to be around." As far as she could tell, he was an honest cat. Those were the best kind, because you never had to decode what they really meant.
Hailspirit began grooming a paw as they went into silence. She wondered what he was thinking about, or if he was about to leave. But she didn't hear him get up or move his paws, so it couldn't have been that. 'He could've just gotten distracted. Maybe a butterfly floated by.' She rested in that thought and continued to lick her paw.
The warrior placed her paw down, surprised by what Ripplepaw had said. She'd never been asked that before. 'Was he... Thinking about my blindness?' She wasn't really offended by that. There were only a few blind RockClanners, so of course he'd be curious. "Yeah, I was. My brother had to help me get around for a while until I got used to it." She chuckled a little at the end, thinking of relying on Webpaw 24/7. 'I'm sure he hated it.'

"Oh, okay. You probably rely a lot on smell and sound, huh? I bet you have, like, super hearing and smelling then!" He told her, nudging her lightly. He realized he was much smaller than Hailspirit; He was only an apprentice after all. "Just kidding, although that sounds pretty cool." he mewed, grinning. He felt a lot more comfortable now that he was familiar with Hailspirit.
"So, since we're friends, I doubt you'd mind if I asked more about you? For all I know, you have a double life as a Treeclan cat." he told in an exaggerated serious tone. "But seriously, what about your kithood? And your apprentice training. Who was your mentor?" Ripplepaw wondered how he hadn't run into Hailspirit before today; He actually wondered that with a lot of Rockclan's members. You'd think in such close proximity everyone in the clan would be familiar with one another.

She laughed. "I wish. That would be awesome." She didn't know how her smelling and hearing compared to other cats, but she assumed it was the same.
Hailspirit laughed again as he continued. "How did you know?!" She tried to sound as dramatic as possible, mouth falling open. It was followed by a grin and a shake of the head. "You're quite the comedian, Ripplepaw." She gave him a friendly nudge.
The warrior sighed, trying to think of how to answer his question. "Kithood was fine. It really improved once I joined RockClan and started making other kit friends." She cleared her throat. "My mentor was Scarletfire, though Windswirl gave me my assessment." She felt like Windswirl was more of a mentor than Scarletfire was, even though she taught her for a short amount of time. "What about you?"

Ripplepaw grinned when he saw Hailspirit playing along with his joke. "Oh, so you joined Rockclan?" He hadn't known that. He'd met some cat's who weren't born in the clan, though. Rockclan seemed pretty accepting when it came to something like that. He hadn't heard of the mentors Hailspirit told him about, but maybe he'd see them around. It seemed like the more cat's he met, the less he met...
"Well... as a kit, I didn't talk very much. I didn't really have a hard time getting along with the other kits, although Ashkit was the only friend I actually made. And, well, here I am now. I obviously lost some of my kithood charm, since I'm pretty bad at making conversation..." Ripplepaw laughed, although it sounded unenthusiastic. "My training is slow... That's probably my fault... but it is currently moving along nicely."
The tom wondered if he had left anything out. Not really. He didn't have much of a story... He was only an apprentice.

"Mhm." She nodded, thinking back to the times before. She was only a kit so there wasn't much to remember, but she could recall feeling really cold. Hailspirit shivered at the thought. She hadn't met anyone else who had joined, though she figured most would keep it a secret.
She listened Ripplepaw speak, trying to imagine him as a small kitten. Of course, to her this only meant that his voice would be a higher pitch. 'Aww.' She quickly shook her head when he trailed off. "You're great at making conversation. I like talking to you." Her ears perked up when he finished. 'Hmm...' "I could, um, I could help with your training." She offered, trying to hide the excitement in her voice. She hadn't trained an apprentice yet, and thought it would be really fun.

Ripplepaw's face heated up at her compliment, and he grinned widely. It was nice to hear that someone actually... liked something about him. And, he realized slowly, he had actually managed to make a friend with someone. He almost believed he would go his life without one... not that he had minded at first, being withdrawn and all, but now that he was talking to Hailspirit... 'That would have sucked a lot...
His ears perked up with interest. "W-Would you want to? Crevicelight is a wonderful mentor, but I would definitely be down to learning some extra stuff!" He thought of how discouraged he had been about his training before. With Hailspirit showing him some extra stuff, maybe he could get better at his training with some extra help... maybe he would finally make some progress!
