Assessment Time! (p-Icepaw)

Melodysong walked into the apprentice's den, following the scent of her newly appointed apprentice.  She now had two apprentices, but Icepaw was almost done with her training, and Melodysong figured it was time for her assessment.

She looked around the den and finally spotted Icepaw.  "Icepaw!" she shouted. "It's time to finish up your training!  Assessment time!" she said, and padded outside the apprentice's den and waited for Icepaw.

Icepaw awoke to her new mentors call, it was time for her assessment, time for the ending of her training. She was very happy and excited for this assessment. Well who wasn't, everyone apprentice dreams of this day.

Icepaw quickly padded out of the apprentice den and towards Melodysong. "Good morning, Melodysong." She greeted kindle.

[Melodysong]

(I saw that you have a training thread. Is .. i think it's petalfur, your mentor?)

"Good morning, Icepaw. I hope you're rested up. Go get something to eat, and meet me right outside the barn so we can have your assessment." said Melodysong, and grabbed a mouse for herself before heading out of the "camp."

(Yes but Petalfur is very inactive and we had finished training in the old terriotory but reviewed it.)

Icepaw nodded and grabbed a mouse and ate it quickly but carefully not to choke. She smiled and padded towards the outside of the camp where she spotted Melodysong. "What first?" She asked excitedly.

[Melodysong]

"First is to go on a quick hunt. Get as much as you can before the sun reaches the point in the sky where it's directly overhead. I'll be watching from the shadows. Go!" she said with a laugh.

[Icelily]

Icepaw dipped her head understanding and darted into the territory where the grass was longer. She lowered into a hunters crouch when the scent of prey hit her mouth. She kept her balance and stalked forward until she mas close enough to leap and kill the mouse ethically. She built up energy and leapt landing on the prey quickly giving it a quivk blow to the neck and killing it.

She smiled as she buried it to grab later like she knew to do and looked at the sun. She still had time to catch more prey. She sniffed the air looking for prey when she scents a vole. She didnt think she'd see one here, but it wasnt a water vole so she guessed she might as well get it. She lowered into a hunters crouch stalking it til she ended up close enough where her paw could hit it. She quick strtched her neck out, able to bit it and bit the air pipes. With a small squek it went limp. Buring it quickly she went to find more prey.

[Melodysong]

Melodysong watched Icepaw silently, and followed his trail, while hiding in the shadows. She took note of Icepaw's catch, and resumed her watch.

Icepaw sat still for a few moments before scenting another mouse, spotting it immediatly she dropped into a crouch and stalking towards it. As she quickly approached it, she noticed it spotted her and was getting ready to dart. But with quick cat-like reflexes she easily lept and caught the mouse breaking its back when landing. She wasn't that happy with the kill but she got it. Buring it quickly she went out for another suspecting that Melodysong would signal her if time was up.

In a matter of seconds another scent hit the roof of her mouth, vole. She scanned the area spotting the small vole not as fast this time. The vole must of been born a few seasons ago. It was a tiny critter. But she caught that too killing it and heading off for more.

Melodysong smiled to herself as Icepaw caught even more pray. She figured she'd let him hunt for a bit longer, and then move on to the next part of the assessment, fighting.

Icepaw quickly found a mouse and then two farm birds killing them quickly and buring the in the same spot of the other prey. She then checked the sun, seeing that it was now sun high and directly over her head. She quickly decided that she coule catch one more peice.

[Melodysong]

Melodysong had been about ready to tell Icepaw she'd caught enough, but the apprentice just continued hunting. She chuckled a bit, and continued to evaluate her new apprentice.

Icepaw quivkly found one last piece of prey which was a puny vole, but of course prey was prey. She caught it quickly after hesietating for a moment and trotted to where she had buried all the prey from before. After she finsihed she sat, waiting for her mentor.

[Melodysong]

Impressed by the kill her apprentice had collected and honestly getting quite bored of watching Icepaw hunt, Melodysong approached from her "hiding place" among the grasses and smiled. "Nice job. Next is fighting. Let's see what you've got. Attack me." she said. She realized that she'd never fought with Icepaw before, which gave them both a slight advantage over each other. They didn't know each other's strengths and weaknesses. Melodysong's was her speed; she dodged attacks easily and might possibly be the fastest cat in the clan. Aside from her fast reaction time and speed, she didn't have much else going for her. She wasn't the strongest...

Icepaw spun aroune to face her mentor, her claws unsheated but then sheated and nodded to her kindly in thanks and understanding. "Ok." She meowed. Icepaw was strong and fast so she could attack and dodge quickly and in strong movements. She lowered herself to the ground thinking of how to attack. She quickly leapt into the air in atempt to attack Melodysong on the flank and knock her to her back.

Melodysong easily predicted the attack and jumped sideways, dodging Icepaw's attack. "Come on." she said, giving her apprentice a challenging look. "Surprise me. It won't be easy.,"
