Goldenpaw was bored.
He huffed. Things were slow and uneventful. In a fit of impatience, he'd randomly arranged every single nest in the apprentice's den in a stack. He was impressed with his work, seeing as it had failed to topple over. He smirked at the thought of the faces of the apprentices, realizing they'd have to figure out which nest belonged to whom. There was also the risk of the nests being mangled while they disentangled the pile.
He yawned, stretching out his limbs in the sun. Since it was Green-leaf, the sun's rays were gentle and warming. It was nice... But also tended to make cats rather sleepy. Which wasn't interesting at all.
Things were too static, too mundane for the golden tabby.

Ashpaw should have been mad, but frankly, he was more impressed. Yes, he'd been a little annoyed that eventually he'd have to sort his own nest from the massive stack of moss and bracken, but the fact that somebody had spent the time to put them all in a pile in the first place seemed more important than that. Actually, he wanted to congratulate whoever had done that on a job well done.
The apprentice's den was empty, but there were a few apprentices outside he'd probably be able to ask about the whole thing. It wasn't long till he found one. "Hey, you!" he called to a golden tabby who looked about apprentice-aged. He trotted closer, a bright smile on his face. "D'ya have any idea who moved all the nests in the apprentice's den? They're all in a stack..."

Goldenpaw smirked.
"Do you like my handiwork?" He purred in a question. The other apprentice seemed to have a bright smile, though he wasn't sure if that'd change or if it would stay the same. If it stayed the same, he'd know he'd met someone with a good sense of humor! That'd be a great sort of cat to hang around and chat with.
On the other paw, if his expression changed then Goldenpaw would probably have to deal with a highly irritated apprentice. Oh well. That sort of thing didn't get to him. He'd agitate them a bit more and walk off when he got bored.

"Actually, yeah!" Ashpaw replied excitedly. "I mean, it's going to be a pain to find my nest later, but it's still cool how you got them all to stand up without falling over like that!" Eh...he should probably just make a new nest altogether. His was pretty old at this point anyway. "I gotta ask, where'd you get the idea to do that?" he asked. "Was it boredom or somethin' else?"

So someone with a good sense of humor.
Goldenpaw gave an impish grin. Nice to hear it. He took a short bow. "Thank you, bestower of praise!" He lifted his head back up and tilted it to the side. "Well, gee.... I was kinda bored. I thought it'd be funny and kill some of that boredom we all love to hate." He smirked. "It worked." Then his expression shifted to a frown. "For a few moments."

Ashpaw nodded understandably. Boredom was awful, just awful. He'd been cursed with it enough times to know that. "Well, if you're still bored, maybe we could go hunting or something together?" Ashpaw offered, trying to be helpful. He needed to practice hunting, anyway, and would definitely like some pointers. Things like that just weren't as fun when you were alone. "Only if you're interested, though. Wouldn't wanna force you or anything."

Honestly, Goldenpaw found himself taking a liking to this apprentice whose name he still didn't have, more and more with every passing second.
He grinned impishly. "Well. I'd have to say that's a good idea." With that, the golden furred tom stood up on his own four paws. His tail swayed behind him lazily. "But... Just one problem." He pointed to the gray furred apprentice with a forepaw. "Haven't got a name for you there, buster. Mine's Goldenpaw. Need one to attach to your attractive mug." Through all the while, his smile never faltered even for the briefest of moments.

"Great!" Ashpaw purred, glad to have somebody to hunt with. He stood up, about to start trotting to the entrance when Goldenpaw mentioned there was a problem. "There's a problem?" he asked, smile faltering for a second, since he had thought Goldenpaw was serious. That would have been weird, though, since the other apprentice was still smiling. Confused, he tipped his head to the side for a moment, until Goldenpaw explained.
He snorted a short laugh at what the 'problem' had been, secretly very, very relieved there hadn't been any real issue. He stared at his paws for a moment when he was called 'attractive', obviously bashful, but he quickly shook the feeling away. "It's Ashpaw- I'm Ashpaw," he replied, stumbling over his words for a moment. "And I have to say, you're not so bad looking yourself." Ashpaw tried to hide how embarrassed he'd been to say that- was it too much?
"Shall we get going?" [[ ashpaw is way too gay for his own good, wow ]]

Goldenpaw noticed that Ashpaw didn't even wait for him to finish speaking!
Seemed to be a tom of action. He seemed a little put down by the prospect of a problem. Oh, c'mon! Surely he'd get the idea that Goldenpaw was hardly one to be serious and glum like that! Then again, they'd just met, so he figured he could cut the guy some slack.
Though, the snort and laugh was promising. Perhaps his fears that the darker furred tom's humor was less so than he thought it was, were unfounded. At the compliment, Goldenpaw started purring and took a dramatic bow. "Why, thank you gorgeous!" Goldenpaw loved to give nicknames. Though, he couldn't think of any for this tom at this moment. Oh well, he was sure as they went out to hunt he'd come up with a good name. For now, he could stick to all those lovely compliments to get that dark fur nice and red!
He began to walk past Ashpaw, on the path out of camp, before stopping and looking over his shoulder with an impish grin. "Well? We're not getting any younger over here!"
((Don't worry! Goldilocks over here is pan af. Also the muse fairy has visited on this post))

[[ good to hear, since ashpaw is starting to fall after all this sweet-talking ]]Ashpaw couldn't help but laugh at Goldenpaw's theatrics, with his totally unnecessary bow. He let out a sort of indignified squawk when the tabby complimented him yet again, cheeks heating up slightly under his fur. He wasn't used to such praise. "Cut that out, you're makin' me blush," Ashpaw scolded, but he did so in a light, teasing tone. "It's funny now, but it won't be when my ego is as big as the whole TreeClan territory, mark my words."
Ashpaw rolled his eyes before following Goldenpaw out of camp, eventually trotting past him, playful smirk on his face. "Who's the slowpoke, now?" he teased. continuing their banter. He kept just ahead of Goldenpaw, speeding whenever he got close, silently daring the other apprentice to just try to get ahead of him. Just try it.

Goldenpaw only grinned and his imaginary eyebrows bounced up and down.
"Make me!" He couldn't resist chirping. "Hah! I think I can get that pelt nice and red, no matter the ego!" He even waited for Ashpaw to catch up to just prod his side. The mischievous apprentice just laughed.
He pretended to consider Ashpaw's teasing question. "Mm... Still you." He meowed, cackling as he shot ahead of the darker furred apprentice.

Ashpaw faked a gasp of outrage, sprinting to catch up with Goldenpaw. It was the other apprentice's mistake really- Ashpaw had never been good at climbing trees, but running was an entirely different story. He weaved his way through the forest, able to keep pace with Goldenpaw, and occasionally, he threatened to overtake him, though a moment after going ahead he'd fall back in line next to Goldenpaw. "Really?" he panted as they ran. "I think you're falling behind, Goldie!"

Goldenpaw simply lifted an eyebrow, even as he ran through the forest.
The larger apprentice was surprisingly fast, but the tabby apprentice only smirked. He wasn't some meathead without a brain, after all. He knew how to turn the tables. "Tree race! We are in the clan of trees after all!" He called out in a singsong voice, as he leaped onto a tree and began scaling it at a rather fast pace. He'd always been about average in running speed, but the way he could move through trees... It was like he was a squirrel! Though, he preferred to be compared to a bird.
As he perched himself on a rather high branch, he called down to Ashpaw. "Think I got a nickname for you! Why don't we call you Swift?" He suggested with an impish smile. "A rather pretty name for a rather pretty cat!"

"You're on!" Ashpaw called as he stopped and watched Goldenpaw scale a tree nearby. He soon followed, and though he fumbled for a moment to remember how to climb a tree, since he didn't do it so often, he soon got the hang of it. He couldn't help but think that there must have been a reason that he didn't like to climb trees, but he couldn't remember it, having been distracted by his friendly competition. When he reached a branch a little lower than Goldenpaw's, he glanced up at the tom. "I-I have a perfectly fine name, I think," he fumbled for a moment, getting increasingly flustered by the other tom's unoriginal (and yet somehow very effective) flirting. "...but I guess it's kind of nice," he admitted, mumbling it a little quieter. He then set his eyes on the branch he planned to jump to next, and tried to focus on anything other than the heat in his cheeks.
It was then he remembered why he didn't climb trees.
Ashpaw's gaze dropped for half a second and suddenly he realized just how high up he was. The world seemed to tilt for a moment, and his stomach dropped, moments before he did the same, crouching against the tree branch and latching onto it tightly with his claws. He peered over the edge again and swallowed nervously, immediately regretting his decision. "I c-changed my mind," he mewed, voice quivering slightly. "I don't wanna be up here anymore." He didn't really want to say why, even if it was obvious what the problem was.
He was deathly afraid of heights. He was a TreeClan cat that couldn't even handle actually climbing trees. He was going to die of embarrassment. What if Goldenpaw laughed at him? [[ save this poor child ]]

Goldenpaw grinned as Ashpaw began to somehow stumble up the tree.
He didn't seem to be very experienced. He didn't do it much, clearly. To be honest, Goldenpaw hadn't done it much either and he'd taught himself. Dustcloud, his mentor, hadn't really ever gotten around to teaching him anything. So he went around trying to figure things out himself. Of course, with common sense.
Then Ashpaw reached a branch just below and finally reacted to the nickname. Goldenpaw had a cocky grin waiting for him. Hah! His nicknames were great! But he noticed as the tom was flustered, he was also getting quieter and quieter. Then he suddenly started to freak out and clung to the branch. Goldenpaw wasn't sure that was smart. If the branch broke, then you were stuck and broken bones was your likely destination.
"Not a fan of heights?" He asked with a cocked head, his expression relatively neutral with a raised imaginary eyebrow.
