Acornpaw ((So we had a thread a long while ago... That kind of died. I noticed you got on recently, so I'm making a new one.)) Amberflash always wondered how she was supposed to train two apprentices. Foxclaw had been the only apprentice she'd been able to train to warriorhood. Embarrassingly, she'd had to give Redpaw, who she discovered was promoted to Redfang recently, to another warrior to train. She sighed. Hopefully... Things would come out better. Acornpaw had given her a heart attack, with her not seeing him for moons. Though, he'd seemed to turn up again. She stuck her head into the apprentice's den. " Acornpaw?"

(really sorry for the late reply!! my internet was out for soo long)
acornpaw felt horrible for being so elusive. with his not-so-stellar health and his physical advantages, what little training he had took a harder toll than he'd originally thought. fawnskip had warned him about it, and talk of delaying his apprenticeship another moon—give him more time to "grow into himself" and "get stronger"—nagged at his mind. but he was better now. acornpaw could handle this.
"acornpaw?" his head popped up over the sleeping bodies, and he smiled guiltily. acornpaw didn't bother to make himself look presentable as he stumbled his way to amberflash. he looked down at his paws, shame prickling at his skin. he must've caused her a lot of trouble, not giving her warning or anything at all for so long a time. "i'm sorry i've been such a bad apprentice," he mumbled, baby blues looking up and seeking forgiveness. he was going to do better this time, and be better.

((It's okay, don't worry!))
Amberflash saw Acornpaw lift his head sharply at hearing his name.
He soon clambered out of the apprentice's den and Amberflash withdrew herself and backed up a few steps. He seemed... Upset. The reason quickly revealed itself as Acornpaw seemed to be radiating guilt and shame with every fiber of his being, looking down at his paws and giving the older she-cat some sort of puppy-eyes.
Her ears folded back and she gave a sheepish smile. "It's fine Acornpaw... You're here now and that's what's important." She reassured him. "We just need to get back to training right away. Ah... After you have something to eat of course." Amberflash honestly wanted to be a good mentor. She felt like she hadn't ever been able to guide an apprentice to warriorhood the way she felt would be... Well.... Good.

the weight against acornpaw's chest lightened, but there was still a wrinkle on his forehead and a small frown on his maw. this time, however, he was more fueled by determination. "i'm gonna do better, 'cause you're a great mentor, and i don't wanna waste an opportunity to learn from you." his frown turned into a hopeful smile. nothing could stop him.
the mention of food made his stomach growl loudly, and the russet apprentice laughed in embarrassment. "yeah, i second the food thing." the tom hurried towards the fresh kill pile. "have you eaten yet?" he asked his mentor. "cause, um, if you haven't, we can share?"

Amberflash smiled with the slightest bit of shyness, and her ears folded back
"Okay then." She responded, her voice more certain than before. She snorted a bit, hearing Acornpaw's stomach growl. She watched the young apprentice bound over to the fresh-kill pile and then offer her to share.
She folded her ears back and smiled nervously. "It's nice of you to offer... But I'm good. You should eat so you have enough to energy to get through the day."

acornpaw nodded his head and chirped a simple, "okay." he'd always been taught to pay mind to his companions in whatever he was doing, and it seemed rude if he didn't at least try to coax his mentor to sharing a meal. turning away, the small tom rummaged the pile until he came back up with a young hare—not even close to adulthood in the slightest—that was thankfully still a lot smaller in size than he. acornpaw ate quickly because he didn't want to waste more time.
"okay, i'm good," he purred right after he'd disposed of the remains and wiped most of the blood from his face. his teeth were still a little stained, but that didn't matter to acornpaw. "ready when you are, amberflash!"

Amberflash waited patiently for Acornpaw.
She watched as the young apprentice bounded away to fill his belly. He chose a smaller rabbit and ate quickly and efficiently. He seemed pretty eager to dive back into training. Thankfully, he didn't seem to doubt Amberflash's blatant honesty like Creekpaw did....
He quickly returned and seemed ready. Amberflash nodded. "Okay. Follow me." She then began setting a normal walking pace, heading out of camp and into the territory. She planned on leading Acornpaw to a spot in the territory that was away from the camp, but also far from any border Fireclan shared with its neighbors.
