I will my blurry golden eye to focus as I watch fuzzy morning shapes move in and out of my vision. I need better lighting to see well with my good eye, but at least it's something. Besides, I'm absolutely determined to see better with this eye. Either way, I'm perfectly happy with my progress, and my happy smile shows this. Now to find something interesting to do. Because to be completely honest, counting cats after you've just woken up sorta makes you tired again. And so I awaken my never ending source of energy, and go bouncing crazily around the nursery after whatever I can happen to find. Eventually I slow and sit down. On what apparently happens to be another cat's tail. I rocket to my paws with a rather high-pitched "Sorry!" Before whipping around and meeting the cat's blind blue gaze. "Mama!" A grin lights up my features, and I encourage it with bouncing paws and shimmering eyes. I don't really care if I'm a little clumsy, and I believe my family has come to expect it, especially Mousey(Whitekit). I give mama a lick on the cheek and offer a gentle purr, both to greet her like any loving daughter should, and so she'd know exactly where to locate me. "Can we go in the territory mama? Please, please, pleeeeeaaaseee!" I'm bouncing around with my tail waving in the air and eyes wide and hopeful, despite the fact that the right little blue one can't see anything. Palefire may not be able to see me, but she could probably imagine her over-enthusiastic daughter bouncing around like a clumsy loon on catnip. (What a lovely first post between these two, lol)

|| she's so cute! x) ||
Hailspirit napped in her nest, body moving up and down softly with every breath. Motherhood was a lot harder than she expected it to be. She didn't know how Brackensky stayed cooped up in the den all of the time.
Then something plopped down on her tail. She jolted awake, eyes blinking open to more darkness. She sniffed around, trying to find the source of the impact, but a little voice soon followed. "Sorry!" Hailspirit purred warmly, instantly recognizing the voice. It was her youngest, and her only daughter. She opened her mouth to greet her, but was cut off by a lick to the cheek. She trilled another purr. "Hello Flurrykit." She said softly, giggling as the kitten continued. "I would take you, but I have to watch your brothers! You know how much trouble they can be." She really only said that as an excuse. Onyxkit and Whitekit were some of the most well-behaved kits she'd ever met.
She leaned down, trying to get on Flurrykit's level. "Maybe another day, okay? I promise."

(*Wipes tears* Why thank you, I'm touched. She's my pride and joy-and Hail's- xD)
I keep bouncing, making my purr sound a little awkward, and equally hilarious as mama greets me. I offer her an earsplitting grin she could probably imagine despite not being able to see, and I focus my one golden eye on her, ears pricked forward in anticipation. At her excuse, all motion stops, and I plop down on my rump with a disappointed "Awww! But mama! Mousey isn't that bad." I huff and pout sadly up at her, my disappointment clear, though not actually as bad as my dramatic self is letting on.
As Hailspirit leans down to my level-well, almost- I stretch up so that I can peer into her blind blue eyes. At her promised words, I nod, before tilting my head slightly to one side. "Super duper promise?" I ask, ears tilting forward as I will her to say yes.
And then I'm back to my silly kitten self, hopping up and spinning in a circle before plopping down again. "Mama, can the sky cats fly? And are the stars their eyes watching us?" My expression is hopeful, and slightly awed at the thought of the sky cats watching over me. I make a note to be especially well behaved when I finally go into the territory. "I asked Mousey, but he doesn't know. He says my eyes look like stars though!" And then I'm suddenly grinning and peering into her eyes, tail fluttering behind me. "Yours look like stars too!"

"Mousey?" Hailspirit questioned, tipping her head to the side. She giggled at Flurrykit's next words. "Super duper promise." She moved to boop Flurrykit's nose, then sat back with a cheerful smile. 'Hopefully I don't forget. Maybe she could even meet Fangshadow.' She had a feeling the two would get along great.
The warrior hummed softly when Flurrykit continued. That was quite the question. "I'm sure they can. And I don't know about the stars. I guess we'll just have to find out." She wondered where this was coming from. 'Kits these days are so imaginative.' "Really? I've heard that stars are very pretty. You must have marvelous eyes." She chuckled at the next exclamation. "Thank you."

I giggle. "Whitekit of course!" I respond, as though she should have guessed this. He was her kit after all. Another giggle and an ear-to-ear grin follow mama's next words, glad to have her word. I make a little mental note to hold her too it, hardly realising she could well mean once I'm an apprentice. At her book on my nose, I try to nip at her paw, but she moves it away too quickly, as though suspecting this. And so I proceed to stare cross eyed at my nose as though something was still there. 'It feels funny.' I inform myself internally.
I hear mama hum in response as she mulls over my question, and my ears flicker forward as I attempt to echo her. I try three times before realising I should probably respond to her words. And so I spend the next pause between her words trying to think of something to say, yet coming up blank at every door I turn too. And so I amuse myself with pouncing on her tail, trilling a purr of satisfaction as my little white paw brushes her ginger tipped tail.
I pause with one paw trying to land on her tail, and look up at her. "I hope so. I looked in a shiny water circle once. One is gold, like your fur, and the sun. The other one is blue, but it looks cloudy like yours. That one I can't see with. The golden one don't see too well either, but it will." I say this all nonchalantly, clearing not caring about my bad eyesight. I also happen to have a mind lapse and forget the word 'puddle.' By the time I remember the word, I'm back to hunting her tail. Training my little golden orb upon it as well as I can in the dim lighting, which causes it to become fuzzy and blur.

"Oh, I see." She wondered why that was his nickname. Maybe he looked like a mouse? Or pretended to be one? Either way, she was happy to hear that her kits were getting along. Hailspirit spun around in surprise when Flurrykit pounced, her tail dragging behind her under the kit's weight. "You little sneak!" She said jokingly, trilling a loving purr.
The warrior was quiet when Flurrykit described her eyes. 'Different colors? I wonder if that's a bad thing?' She'd have to ask someone later. Her ears perked up in alarm when she continued. 'She can't see in one eye?' Hailspirit could almost feel her heart shattering into pieces. She was afraid that one of her kits would have a birth defect, and it looked like that came true. 'Poor thing. And it's all my fault!' Without realizing it, her ears had flattened and a sad expression was clear on her face. What if Whitekit and Onyxkit had problems too, but they didn't tell her? "Flurrykit, dear, is your eye ever in pain?" She asked softly, a little afraid of the answer.

I giggle slightly at mama's reaction to my snagging her tail, and I trill a purr in response to her's. I get dragged along slightly when she moves it away, before I release it and it moves out of reach. I pout at it briefly, before turning back to mama. She looks worried. Upset even. I frown softly and move in front of her, abandoning my chase of her tail.
...? My mind is blank and confused as mama pins her ears and looks really sad. All I can really process with my little mind is that something is wrong. I sit in front of her and try to meet her gaze, tipping my chin up to double my efforts. "Mama?"
It's silent for a little bit, with mama looking so sad that my little heart shatters and whines. At her words, I shake my head vigorously, and then remember she can't see it. "No. Never." I respond, my voice coming out a little too high-pitched, showing my stress even to mama. When she still looks sad, I stand slightly on my hind legs, which is a little wobbly, but I force my balance as I scan her face from my vantage point, before dropping back and sitting down.
"Mama? D-did I do s-s-something wrong?" My voice is shaky now, and the last word is followed by a tiny whimper. I've never seen someone upset before, and I don't like it. Not one bit.

"No. Never." Hailspirit sighed in relief. 'But she's half-blind. I feel so bad.' She wondered if anything would be harder for her. 'She just has to make sure that her other eye doesn't get injured. I would hate it for her if she went blind.'
The she-cat quickly shook her head when Flurrykit spoke up again. She didn't realize how her mood could've affected the kitten. "No, no, no. You're perfect." She soothed, trying to pull Flurrykit closer with her tail. She wore a weak smile on her face. "I just want you to be okay."

I nod slowly, still a little uneasy, but feeling a bit better. As mama pulls me closer with her tail, guiding me to her, I press my tiny body into her fur until I stop shaking and the sun smiles again. After the silence drags on a little, I break it with a loving purr as I stretch up to lick her chin, which is all I can reach from this angle. Then I wriggle out and wave my tail happily as I face her once more, bouncing around again as though nothing happened. "Wanna play a game mama?" I swear I don't stop purring, so my sugary sweat voice comes out a little funny. I giggle at this and wait, rather fidgety in anticipation for her reply.
(short, sorry)

|| you're good! ||
Hailspirit purred lightly, satisfied as she felt Flurrykit calm down. 'I'll have to remember not to get too sad or anything around her.' She bent down, giving her daughter a nuzzle. "A game would be wonderful. What did you have in mind?" 'I've been hearing many games of "warriors" being played. I wonder if she'll pick that. Or maybe she's sick of it.' The warrior perked her ears in curiousity, knowing that she'd be happy with any game Flurrykit picked.

I perk up at her purr, and find I've calmed down completely now. I echo the sound with a small rumble of my own, and brush against the muzzle she touches me with. Grinning all the while. I frown when she says I am to pick the game. And so I then gather my thinking face, and imagine what games I've played so far. Then I remember something I made up with Mousey, and so I grin and decide on that. "Okay, so it's like playing his and seek, but you gotta spin around three times first. And I gotta close my eyes to make it harder."
I grin at her and bounce a circle, before brushing past her so she knows I'm leaving, offering a small mew for her to follow. Then I bound out into the camp, and sit just out of the way of everyone. "Okay. I'll seek first. You got till I reach ten to find a hiding spot. Okay?" I grin up at her, move away slightly, and close my eyes. Then I proceed to spin in a circle three times, quick enough to make me dizzy. When in stop, I keep my eyes closed tight and wobble slightly, stumbling and releasing a giggle. "One....Two....Three....Four...."

"Sounds fun. I'll be right behind you." Hailspirit smiled at the touch, getting up and following in the direction she bounced off in. She nodded at the next directions. "Got it." She listened to her spin around, then set off for a hiding spot.
She chose a large boulder near the side of camp, the same one she'd tried to climb so many times as a kit. She lowered herself down in the dirt, small frame easily hiding behind the rock. Even so, her pelt stood out among the dirt and it wouldn't be too hard to see her at the right angle. The warrior listened closely for the sound of pawsteps.

"...Eight....nine....Ten!" I giggle and stumble slightly with the fact that my eyes are still screwed shut. This time, instead of walking into the nursery wall like I had with Whitekit, I instead lift my head and fast the air. 'Let's see...Milk scent that way, so that's the nursery...umm...prey scent that way, so that's the fresh kill pile."[/b][/color] I note the certain places I should avoid, before bouncing off in some random direction I assume is clear. This time, instead of being greeted by a rock, I stop just before one, and lean forward, bumping my nose. Then I sniff around, circling the Rock and squishing in between it and another rock. 'Mousey's hiding place' I note, trilling a purr at the memory of greeting his shoulder instead of his face. I wander on, my little white paws making no sound as I pick up the scent of mama.
Grinning deviously, I sniff out the Boulder she is hiding in, somehow brushing past it without collision. Then I pad around it quiet as possible. As soon as I feel warmth radiating off mama, I make sure not to touch her, and instead back up a step. I move a little further around, then I run up and spring for her back, making sure not to hurt her. To announce that it's me that has found her, I trill a purr and mew "Found you mama!"

Hailspirit froze as the sound of pawsteps neared. She giggled, feeling the kitten land on her back. "You got me!" She slowly stood up, trying to balance Flurrykit on her back. "Hold on tight. I think this'll be fun!" She purred, beginning to walk away. She moved at a slow pace at first, ready to turn around and catch her daughter if she fell.
She started moving a little quicker, wondering if Flurrykit was having as much fun as she was. "Just tell me when you want to stop." She called back, twitching her whiskers.

I giggle in response to her own, and am about to get off, when she tells me to hold on. I frown in confusion. "Ok!" I say with another giggle, crawling forward and latching my tiny little teeth into her scruff. She begins to stand, rather awkwardly as she tries to keep me balanced, and I hold on with my paws and raised my head to accompany my laughing fit. "Woah! Where we going?" I laugh happily and holding on as she begins to pad slowly forward. I'm still laughing, and most likely earning odd or amused looks. I brush them off and return my amusement and excitement with enthusiasm.
Mama picks up the pace, and I grip on and manage to stop my laughter enough to speak. "Faster mama, faster!" My ears flicker back and forth, and I readjust myself in preparation for her to pick up her speed. I'd never seen a cat do this before, it's quite fun. I'd heard that the hairless two legged things ride huge creatures called horses. And they apparently sit on their backs like this. I giggle against and reach my neck out to give mama a lick on the head, purring.
