Dapplecloud A drop of water hit my nose, waking me sharply from my sleep. Growling, I sat upright, running a paw over my face. Even in the stone dens, there were cracks where rain dripped through. At least it wasn't late in the night. Glancing around blearily, I saw a silhouette of another warrior, hunched over, not far from where I was. "Hey." I called over softly, as to not wake anyone else. "Can't sleep either?"

Clove was never adjusted to the idea of others close by and found sleeping in the den quite hard. When a voice broke her thoughts she looked up with a smile she new this kitty. She nodded, "Is the wet keeping you from sweet Dreams Dapplecloud?" smiling she took a few steps to they would be able to have a quiet conversation with out the chance of annoying others.

Dapplecloud "Kind of." I said, smiling and purring softly when I realized it was Clove. The warrior had been fitting in rather nicely in RockClan, and I had grown to like her hard-working attitude. "I'll have to patch up that hole in the den roof so the next warrior doesn't get soaked overnight." I purred, gesturing at the thin hole in the low den roof. "How have you been, anyway?"

"Well let me know if you need a paw with that," she grinned she knew few cats in the clan and had a fond respect for Dapplecloud. "Oh I've been swell. Your ways and customs are still a bit forgin but I think i'm getting it." Shifted a bit more letting her prickling fur settle. "How have you been, besides clearly enjoying the weather" she joked warmly.

Dapplecloud "That sounds great." I replied warmly to the fact she was getting used to Clan life. "And enjoying the weather? Well, maybe that's a bit true comparing to how I'll be during leaf-bare." I purred. I shifted a bit so I was out of the dripping rain before I spoke again. "Oh you know, just the usual. My old apprentice, Whitejaw, became a warrior, and I have a new one, Echopaw." I said. "Really, it gets just a little too routine after a while." I added on, joking.

She purred amused as the feline had to move yet again to escape the trouble some rain. "Whitejaw really I've met the young tom. You've done a great job!" she grinned having a deep respect for Dapple more and more as she got to know the old kitty. "Routine? well I'm sorry that must become rather boring no?" she was slightly puzzle how could this way of life be so simple it was all so strange of course part of why she left her old clan of death was because of how strictly the same it was. She almost feared it would be the same with Rock Clan!

Dapplecloud "Thank you." I said respectfully at Clove's compliment. Though I tried to stay humble, I still took pride in the apprentices I trained, and the skills I passed on. "And I was just joking." I added, purring. "Yes, there's always patrols and hunting and little scuffles between the Clans, but new kits are always being born, new warriors being trained. So it's mostly a normal warrior's life, but you constantly meet new cats." I said thoughtfully.

She nodded slowly trying to understand why this life seemed to perfect. Dapple seemed fond over the subject of training. Maybe training was a passion that they would both share. "You clanners are all so close and excepting of one another. Why is that?" the idea of training one to only meet another seemed... strange. Maybe it was because her entire life had been avoiding cats... Turning green eyes to the older feline she hoped for a rather brilliant answer.

Dapplecloud "I don't really know." I said, answering her question almost immediately. In fact, I didn't really know at all. Clan cats trained each other, passed on valuable skills and lessons, fought and fed their Clanmates, and were friends, in a network of interconnections. "I suppose if I were to answer that, it's just that we've grown up around these cats, so it's just a familiar feeling. Besides, friends can be your best weapon, and where would friends be if we were snarky all the time?" I said with a touch of humor.

She tilted her head, she felt a bit left out. They all did have a bond though she wasn't sure how to explain it after all she had never experienced it for her self. Her optics grew wide... "Your friends are the best of weapons?" she said more to her self than DappleCloud. How could this be, her entire life friendship was described as your destruction as the worst thing you could ever do... Though it was meant as a joke Clove was slightly stung. That was her friendship... or at least idea of it. Someone that you could insult and they would return it... "DappleCloud, do you think we will ever be able to become friends?" she peered up at the feline with an uncertain expression.

Dapplecloud (Sorry for the late post. Curse you, Calculus! Curse you!) Slightly taken aback at Clove's response to my jest, I quickly attempted to rectify my mistake. "I'm so sorry, I guess I should have worded that better. Yes, your friends can be your best weapon, both in battle and in support. But friendship in a Clan also secures trust, even a sense of family, even if your own family isn't present." I sighed under my breath, remembering my late sister, Spottedheart, or my other sisters, Silverstripe and Fuzzyfoot, who had been absent in camp ever since our becoming of warriors. I nodded at her next question. "Of course. Anyone can become friends, it just takes different amounts of times for certain cats to warm up to each other. And I know I can trust you: as a warrior, you've proven your loyalty just as well as any other cat. If any other cat in RockClan doesn't trust you yet, I wouldn't know why" I purred.

She puzzled it over in her mind some more till it made some kind of sense. "You fight for then and with them" she whispered quietly it gave them all a purpose and in turn strength. That was something she had never really had, a family like purpose... something to fight for. She listened as Dapple hinted they would become friends in time. "Well I'm glad you have such trust in me," offering a small smile she shifted. Time and bonding? she gave a questioning look to Dapple again. "Does this count as building friendship?"

Dapplecloud I purred gladly and nodded at her question. "Sure it does. Anything can be building friendship, really." I paused, musing over my words. "Okay, maybe not everything, but you get what I mean." I wasn't sure how to further the conversation, so I cast around for a topic. I decided to ask something about her family: I hadn't really known about any family she may have had. "I was wondering... did you get to know your own family? Sorry if this is a sensitive topic." I added hastily.

"Yes I understand" She flicked her ear surprised by the change and choice of topic she smiled. "It's not sensitive at all, I don't mind. And not really I mean I have small memory's of my father and mother but not much more than that. As far as siblings I don't believe I had any." She said it with a steady voice very honest about it. She tilted her head. "What about you, parents?Siblings?"

Dapplecloud I felt bad about thinking it, but I honestly wasn't surprised at Clove's past. Rogues were solitary, which usually meant little connection to their family. "My mother is Silversplash, though I haven't seen her since I got my apprentice name." I began. It was true: my mother had been very supportive in kithood, but had seemingly vanished afterward. "Then there's my sisters, Fuzzyfoot, Spottedcloud, and Silverstripe, though I haven't seen them around often either." I said, shrugging. Really, Clan life moved rather quickly during leaf-bare and so it was hard to try to maintain close connections with everyone.
