Natalia nodded. "Home is where the heart is." She said. "Ever heard that before? Might sound a bit... Sappy... But it's true. There might be some... Unpleasant characters around... But there's also cats here who honestly? I'd fight for them. I'd lay my life down for them." Honestly, at this point... She was reasonably sure she'd fight for even someone like Pain, despite their rocky start.

Esther shook her head to the question, then stayed quiet as Natalia went on. She was a little skeptical of her words. She'd never fight for someone else. What was the point? If it was their time to get injured or die, then it was just their time. Nothing to do about it. "If that's the case, then it's best not to talk to anyone, right? That way you won't ever end up getting hurt or fighting for them."

Natalia huffed. "I was kind of like you once." She told Esther. "I think you'll find that these sorts of things find you." She gave a wry smile. "Maybe you don't see it now, but there really are things worth risking getting hurt for."

"I was kind of like you once." Esther found that hard to believe. She was set in her ways and didn't see herself ever getting hurt for someone else, even a relative. She shook her head again. "That just doesn't make sense." Maybe it was selfish of her for not wanting to get hurt for another's sake. Oh well. She could live with being selfish.

Natalia gave a wry smile. "Yeah. Things like emotions don't make much sense in theory." Emotions... Like love which were the driving force behind meaningful relationships, couldn't be put into words. They couldn't be explained logically. They were something that you felt.

'But it's not an emotion thing. It's just plain stupid to get hurt for something other than yourself.' Esther thought, but didn't say anything. Natalia knew her opinion on this, so there was no reason to go on. She gave her a nod.

Natalia sighed. "Not sure if you're actually going to listen to me." She snorted. "God knows it took me forever to learn that lesson." She eyed Esther carefully. She sighed softly, not the usual tired irritation usually found in her sighs. "Y'know, I'm reasonably sure you won't consider the feeling mutual... But you can consider me an ally."

Esther's ears perked higher. Sure, she was listening, but she wasn't gonna believe the she-cat. It all sounded like nonsense. The ragdoll looked up at her when she finished. "I can?" She stayed quiet, then looked back down at her paws. "Thanks... Natalia."

Natalia nodded. "Yes. You can." She confirmed. Esther seemed like she didn't really understand Natalia and her logic... But that was alright. Maybe one day. Maybe not. She hoped Esther would find someone who could do for her, what Jude did for her.

"Wonderful." Esther didn't know if she'd ever see this she-cat again, but at least now she could say she'd made a positive acquaintance. 'Maybe this is a sign. A sign that I should stay here.'

Natalia gave a slight smile. "See you around hopefully.... Esther." With her tail raised with more content than usual, as she left. She genuinely hoped to meet Esther again.
